I have been playing the demo of this upcoming PC FPS and I am quite impressed. To start with it is set in the Wild West, which has been very underused for FPS, considering the amount of guns and violence in this era. There are some clever ideas(two playable characters, that have opposing story lines) and some existing ideas (bullet time, dual wielding) redone really well to fit the setting. It looks pretty good aswell and at last another FPS that shows your feet(not just a floating torso), which not only makes walking across ledges easier, but has allowed them to include a new action of kicking. The overall ambience conveys the Wild West feeling really well and surely everyone wants to walk into a westen town holding two six shooters and shoot the town up. |

Anyone got this? I've been hearing mixed things, but with my current boredom with Forza I'm considering picking this and/or The Darkness up. |

Yeah I love me a good western so I might try and get this on the 360 just as soon as I have got enough money for groceries. Then I can forget about buying groceries and get the game. I can live on gravy mix and dog biscuits a bit longer. |

I've ordered Juarez because I could get it quite cheap (£27.99) and I like the sound of it. Maybe we could do a swap when done? |

It's frustrating. The writing is excellent - good scripting and one of the main characters is a grade A nutter - an ex gunfighter turned priest, who has lapsed back into his old ways to 'cleanse' the town. There's also some very cool bits - there's a way you can whip out your dual pistols and you go into slow mo, with two reticules coming up on the screen, meaning that you can seperately unload your pistols and take out half a dozen guys before they can reply. Also the other character has a bow and arrow that you can snipe guys silently with in slow mo. But at the same time there's some bits where you're shooting at guys in the distance, in the dark where you're vastly outnumbered which is really annoying. There's also an annoying mechanic where you use your whip to grab onto tree branches and swing across gaps. How the hell that ever got past the concept stage is beyond me. Need a bit more play to decide on this. |

thanks for the report. Might hold off for a while then. Just seen a comment that the text is illegible (a la Dead Rising) if you don't own an HDTV. Are you playing on standard def and if so, what's your take on this? |

Yeah I'm on SD, and my TV's sharp enough that I found the text in Dead Rising OK to read, but CoJ's is illegible while I'm sitting on my sofa. It's fine for the plot elements as it's all spoken out for you, but you have to guess for the control tutorials which button it means. |
