Firstly Just Cause. Well I'm disappointed. Plain and simple. Is it me or are the controls needlessly fiddly? Going from a parachute, freefalling on to the top of a moving car was never going to be easy to implement. I think the fact there's not grappling hook in the demo (as far as I can tell) makes things overly complicated. Still, there's some nice weather/time effects and the scale of the thing is already evident from this small section. I just feel it's a wasted opportunity, with some drab missions (which I can see being repeated over and over in the full game) going from this brief demo. Test Drive This is more like it The bike is luverly to play around with and on the straights you can get a real sense of speed. Gotta love those engine sounds
Haven't even bothered with the 4 wheeled vehicles yet. |

Im quite pleased with both demos - mainly as based on them thats £80 saved Just Cause has agood idea but I got bored quick enough with the demo let alone the full game - I would rather the developers concentrated on just a couple of dozen sold long missions apposed to the 100s they claim, which seem to be just exact duplucates of each other. Its a game that will be 17.99 within two months I like Test Drive but I just know I will not have the time or patuence to get the most out of it |

I personally think the bike is rubbish in TestDrive (in this demo at least) - I'm sure Juz will agree with me on this
The rider looks too stiff on the bike and doesn't really lean into the corners.Oh and hello - this is where you all went to eh?

Is that like a cross between patience and flatulence?! Do you need both to enjoy Test Drive? I quite enjoyed the Just Cause demo, although I thought the aiming controls were even worse than the worst of GTA. Oh, and what's with the enemies who you can't run over! On the upside, I loved floating about with the parachute and pulling stunts, and the background ambience in the jungle was excellent. Graphics aren't bad either. Still not sure whether I liked it enough to buy though! Haven't yet tried the new Test Drive demo - hope it's better than the last one. |

Well I'm not a 'biker' so I wouldn't have a clue how a rider should move, I just enjoy tearing down the roads on it. I think you can fiddle with the settings to make it handle more realistically, ie. harder to control. |

Gotta be impressed with the scenery, draw distance and the amount going on in Just Cause, and once you get hold of a chopper it's a lorra of fun chasing enemies and shooting 'em up - maybe even better then San Andreas as the missiles lock on from miles away and the rocket trails look cool. Not sure about the "stunt" transitions and the amount of incredible things the hero can do though - he's like an uneasy cross between Steven Segal, Desperado and Spider-Man. Haven't downloaded Test Drive yet, but as I enjoyed the original demo I can only see me liking it more. And Hello Retro - where the hell have you been?

RETRO!!!! How the hell are you, bro? Good to see you again dude
Back OT: Just Cause has gone from "meh" to "Woah!" in the space of about 15-20 play throughs of the demo. Dunno why, but I'm liking it, despite the fact that I can't invert the fuckin controls. I know that it really IS FarGTA/GTAcry or summink, and I'm also wondering if this, Saints Row and Dead Rising will prove too much of a Sandbox overload for me if I get em all. To anyone who's not really liking it: give it more time. TDU - I can see that it might be nice to meet up with you dudes and have a nice, sedate drive and a chat, but it's just waaaaaaaay too sterile for my tastes. EDIT: What a fuckin tool - just realised that all the options other than Start Game weren't actually greyed out after all, just needed to use the d-pad to scroll down em rather than the anallyouge stick.....'TARD! |

Well completely off-topic, but I got sucked into FF Xi when It came out on the PC to an unhealthy degree. So I decided to get rid and try and concentrate on doing something else for a while as I was spending every waking hour in front of the P.C. So I got rid of the computer completely and just kept the Xbox and PS2. I bought myself a new pc minus FFXI when the 360 came out, and I don't miss the game one bit. In fact I struggle to think now about what the hell was so great about it.Sooo, I was sat one day playing on Xbox live and remembered you guys, looked up Final Level and it was gone. No trace at all. I then had my work cut out for me looking up people like Bondiddly and Juzminator - not made easier by the fact you buggers shortened your names (every search came up with hits that years out of date) - and low and behold here you are. Along with the other old names I see. Back on-topic. The greyed out bits Juz - did exactly the same thing this afternoon. Dawned on me they weren't greyed out at all - ooops! I am not sure about Just Cause, it seems nice from what I have played, but I'm worried it might be a little too empty. I kind of liked the open areas that merely acted as seperations between cities in San Andreas. I don't think you can beat little alley ways, shopping malls etc etc. Lots and lots of trees to run through doesn't really do it for me. |

Something weird is going on here... I can't see my post in this thread and my gamercard appears as a second identity on Retro's posts (welcome back, Retro, BTW). The only way I can see my post is by logging out. Is this happening to anyone else?

Has my internet connection gone all wonky, cos, according to my pooter, Zai was the last person to post on this thread before me, but it was actually Retro....and his signature has Zai's Gamercard in it?!?!? I'm tres confoosed  Back OT - I think that Just Cause has gotta be a contender for Best Looking Game Ever(tm). Huge swathes of it just look like pre-rendered cutscenes. I think it's the motion blur and HDR, but it's flippin nice looking. |
