Breathed new life into PS2 and played it fair bit - even have three games on order for it

Its an early edition model (purchased around time ring of red came out on budget release)

Remember some time ago about being able to fit a HD and install games on that and then being able to run US and Jap games

Is this still possible and what will I need to get ?

I have seen things called USB extreme etc on Ebay - now I have a spare exteranl 250GB USB Hd - could this be used ?

You need something like this to get games loaded onto a HDD.

Don't think you can use a USB hdd to be honest although it's a while since I looked into these things.

Ah cheers

Seen things called USB extreme etc and thought that may work differently

Seems would still need network adaptor

Best bet with the adaptor is to look out for older games that came bundled with it. Especially check in places like WHSmiths as you can strike lucky.

It's not as drastic a difference with loading times when compared to a chipped Xbox with a larger HDD but it makes a difference and gives the weedy PS2 laser a nice rest :)
