It now looks like Gran Turismo 5 will not now be out until 2008 and GT HD will just be a HD version of GT4 with no cars or tracks (these have to be bought individually in micro transactions) I really enjoy the GT games, but it looks like Forza 2 is going to (hopefully) take its place, with lots of cars that can be upgraded and lots of real world race tracks, and even damage. It has been delayed till Q1 2007, but that is not far off now. |

Where did you read Q1:2007? Play.com (that infallible (?) font of all knowledge) still has it down as 03/11/2006. Hope you're wrong (in a can't wait for Forza2 not just being offensive sort of a way
)......

Thats a bit of a shock about GTHD, you'd think that it would at least come with some cars and tracks unless the actual game is free (bundled with PS3? maybe downloadable?) and you only buy the cars that you want which could turn out cheaper than getting a full game anyway. We'll have to wait and see. Online play? Hope so. As for Forza 2, not interested unless they get the handling right and they do something about that racing guide like remove it after the first couple of championships. Otherwise you end up just following that rather than racing properly. I thought the correct gear hints in GT3/4 were bad enough. The handling in the first one wasn't anywhere as good as in GT4, I hope that they've improved it for the sequel. The customisation was pretty spot on although I couldn't find any styling mods for my Elise besides paintwork so I hope they've included something for all the cars this time. |

Dude - correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the ideal racing line toggle-able? |

I personally like the GT series (in fact I still recall, telecodas I think it was, scrolling banner they made as a count down for GT3). But seeing this picture just makes me giggle. It looks like the work experience lad has just gone copy/paste crazy in the pits. It looks shit!

Indeed it was. Did anyone bother turning it off? Granted, its a good learning tool but if you can have it in any race regardless of difficulty, its a bit silly. There was an option to prevent people using it on multiplayer matches (host controlled) but then if you used that, nobody could race properly because they relied too much on the guide and didn't know the tracks. |

I struggled for fuckin AGES online, with pretty much all the aids turned off as I believed that's what every other fucker was doing....till Volt pointed out that the races were oodles easier with the guide (and other aids) switched on - the thing was, I was actually doing pretty well sans driving aids, but then got super-good with em turned on. As for GT - I really was (and still am, in all honesty) blown away with how GT3 and 4 look(ed) - I still don't think anything has surpassed the way the cars look in those games, but the sterility and lack of damage makes it a "meh" game for me. TBH, with the advent of so many sandbox games, I'm wondering whether or not racing games and/or games with a mission (Dead Rising, despite its sandbox pretensions) are for me anymore....reading between those rather large lines, you can probably guess that I'm not loving Dead Rising. |

lol, I forgot about the scroller I did. As for GT5 being "late". GT3 (or was it GT2000 on the back of the PS2 box) was supposed to be around at the launch of the PS2. So it looks like they are following suit. GT3 was visually very pretty, but after the initial WOW factor it left me pretty cold. I guess I now enjoy the more instant gratification from titles like Burnout than devoting hours and hours on end to upgrade to a new wing mirror. Having said that if I do finally plump for a PS3 it'll probably be one of those landmark must have titles when released. No counter this time though.... |

Actually I'm working on one for Duke Nukem forever. Its based upon a completely new type of computing hardware driven by ultra violet light and cabbages. Once that is developed I can start work on the counter. Still confident I will have it ready in time though... |
