I got my 360 on launch day, £399 at Game with 4 games, it broke down in march and I got my current one back in around 4 days.. ok thats the history.

up until now I'm plodding along trying out new games and thinking nothing... until tonight, I was playing Black on my friends ancient ps2. a game that looked stunning and blew me away

I was thinking 'my god this is better than anything on my 360' No.. I'm not going to rush out and buy another ps2 but it made me think.. what games have really impressed me.. what blew me away... and I thought and I thought..

To be honest just the one game... Oblivion.

Cod2 is cool buy hardly next gen, pgr3 was ok, most games have been 'meh' or 'ok' at best.. I can only name very few good ones.

We are almost a year on and whats coming out... rehashed junk and crap ports. I'm rather disappointed in it right now and I'm not sure I'm the only one.

Having a look in the 'coming soon' list at game, do I see a mountain of killer games? no.. tbh nothing stands out. I am a huge Tiger Woods fan but I don't see myself buying the cut down and priced up 360 version.

all in all, I'm a little down right now.. so cheer me up and tell me it'll be all right and some AAA titles are coming soon.

I just watched an extended Assassins Creed demo on Gamer TV and that looked flippin lovely, and would suit you more than me as it's all Olde Worlde and shit.

Gears of War still looks the danglies and is out soon. The mass panic of Crackdown looks like fun.

Bioshock is looking absolutely stunning.

COD3 is out pretty shortly.

I dunno what else to say, really - I think it's been a stunning 1st year, with more to come (GTA IV, Halo 3).

Hmm.

I'd like to disagree with you, but while I've enjoyed quite a lot of games on the 360, there's been nothing outstanding, although I've been enjoying a cheap copy of Ridge Racer 6 that I picked up.

More disappointingly, there's not a lot coming before Christmas that looks crazily original or amazingly good either: Gears of War could be great; I have a feeling that I may put quite a bit of time into Viva Pinata; Crackdown has now been delayed to the other side of Christmas, but other than that, looking at my 'wanted' list, it looks distinctly cross-platformy. Although we're not actually getting the other platform until March...

Jocky's most wanted for Xmas 06
20th October: Splinter Cell: Double Agent - For the multiplayer
27th October: Pro Evolution Soccer 6 - So I can whup SteMacD's arse.
10th November: Call of Duty 3 - Loved CoD2, so I'm hoping for more of the same, it's being developed by the studio that did Big Red One, which was pretty good, so here's hoping.
17th November - Gears of War - Squad shooting, looks lovely, should be excellent for online play.
24th November - Rainbow Six Vegas - Previous Rainbox Six's have been good in multiplayer, this one's coming from the same studio that did the co-op tastic R6 Black Arrow, and, you can map your face on your soldier using the camera, along with shed loads of customisation options for your online soldier.
Viva Pinata - Um, it looks cute?

The thing is, there's only two first party games from MS this Xmas (Gears, Pinata), and only one other game that's a 360 exclusive (DOA Xtreme 2, debatable as to its credibility as a game). By this time in the PS2's life we had a Christmas that included Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and a little game called Grand Theft Auto 3.

MS need to break the Japanese market to get Capcom/Konami more interested in developing for the 360.

GTA Biker, get yourself a copy of Ridge Racer 6 and Dead Rising. Those two, along with Amped 3 would be recommendations as you've not played any of those games (looking at your gamercard).

Gears of War could be great, but it is just more shooting people, and surely everyone is getting a little tired of the genre now? Call of Duty 2 was great last year, but '3 this year? It can't be any different, surely? I think I could happily not play another FPS for ten years :) Having said that, IF the co-op modes in Rainbow and Gears are good then I think they'll be worth a shot. Most people bought a 360 for the online games (I know I did), and so far they haven't been great. I am not a fan of deathmatch, so anything with a decent co-op mode is worth a look in.

Ridge Racer.. never, I'm a simulation fan and I hate silly drifting arcade driving games ;)

Dead Rising.. I'm not sure, I'm not a great fan of zombie games, I'll consider it.

I'd like to disagree with you, but

You would.....why? :(

Juz, you're right about Assassins Creed, I did forget about that, the video looks stunning. tbh I'd kill for a 360 version of Black right now, I'm sure it would sell well. shame they aren't doing one.

Because I have really like some of the things that MS have done with the 360 (online integration etc), and they make all the right noises, and I really don't want to feel I need to buy a PS3 to play anything original.

But you've played Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout Revenge! How could you not like arcade racing games?

I've had my 360 since launch and i've been pretty underwhelmed overall :( .

It's definately been my least-played console to date (its been lying dormant for the last five or six months). My Gamecube got far more use in its first year and I don't really remember that as a memorable console. I actually think I played my Mega-CD more which is very worrying indeed!

There has been hardly any 360 games that I have wanted to part with 40/45 english pounds for. COD 2 gave about 2/3 weeks of manic enjoymant but PGR3 failed to grab me at all. I even tried Oblivion (not a fan of the genre) but it was another disappointment - that's down to my taste though i suppose.

IMHO the 360 has had a poor year and the lack of innovative releases seems to reflect the direction that the games industry is taking (costly development stifling originality and the dominance of a few huge companies). It makes me think that Nintendo may have the right idea about the future of gaming with the Wii. Hopefully, anyway, otherwise i'll have to take up another hobby like gardening or internet grooming

Very true, ok you're right... BUT I have a huge dislike for the RR series since I played several of them on my now long gone ps2.

For the love of God - poor ol' Retro's trying to drop as many hints as possible that he knows something (and I'd probably say it's earth-shattering, going by past experience), and no fucker's biting!!!!!

ARRRGGGHH!!

Tel/Anyone - get that GTA IV countdown timer sorted NOW!

I know GTA IV will be my most anticipated game on the 360 that's for sure. I just hope (fingers crossed) that it's more of the same - with an even bigger playing environment than last time.
