Ok my 360 is almost a launch model - so almost as I was one who ordered from Amazon and got it in December last year

Just turned it on and the disc drive stuck as it was ejecting - very strange so I turned it off and back on again. All seemed fine until 5 minutes into a game the console froze

Turned off and back on again - the same happened - console froze 5 minutes into a game

This time upon turning off and on again I was given three red lights around the power button

I have tried removing all cables and hard drive but nothing

What should I do now ? Who should I contact and what will be options be ?

Thanks

Phone Xbox support UK. You can find the number on the website. Then sit, wait, wait some more, and hope the replacement is back before Gears comes out in 2 weeks time.

I know some people that got theirs back within a week, others more like a month. Hopefully it will be a straight replacement as the launch models are known for their problems, so you should see a quick turn around.

You'll keep your current HDD and PSU too, so its a straight console swop.

Nah Microsoft pay everything, including the posting of the box (for you to pack up the 360), and the courier to and from Microsoft. I wouldn't worry too much about documentation, they'll know when the console was bought, registered etc.

Give them a call, just to don't expect to talk to anyone who can speak English :D

Nah taking it online will be enough, although tbh you wont even need to do that. Just give em a call, tell em its a 2005 model and they'll be fine :)

It'll be ok, my launch machine died in march and they sent me a box to put it in.

The courier picked the box up on monday morning and they delivered my new one on wednesday afternoon!! fast :)

*touchwood* this one has been great so far.

Yeah, there's been so many problems that MS have officially recognised the original machines as faulty and have stepped up the replacement program.

I'm expecting mine to break before long, hopefully when they've done a redesigned model that's nice and quiet that I can get it replaced with.

FYI - MS didn't send me the returns box when mine went tits up about a month or so ago - they said they'd stopped doing it.

I have to say that I found their service exemplary, and only ever spoke to British peeps on the other end of their helpline.

Whole process took ~1 week.

Well the women we just had conversation could speak English but to be honest it was easier to understand the Cat than her

Have talked to people who are pissed and been stabbed who made more sense

Called first thing and was told to do the whole "unplug and start again" thing - said done that but they seemed not to believe me and would not deal til called back - gave ref number

Gave it an hour - called back - gave ref number - stated had no record

Go through it all again

Wait

Wait

Wait

Give email address

Wait

Wait

They say will email returns procedure to me

Ask for ref number

They gave me same one as this morning

FFS

Back to waiting

Going to email Amazon see what they say

Well for a very short while I was happy

But seems this replacement 360 (received today) is also faulty

Anyone able to advise ?

The "new" console boots to dashboard fine

It plays Zuma fine

It plays video fine

Games ? Nope - they load but they then freeze

Is this a known problem ? Is there anything I can try ?

Have tried using both the new and old HD - still the same

also tried using the new and old PSU and still freezes

They where great when I originally contacted them

Sent me replacement no problem - just asked that faulty one be returned within 30 days

Problem is the "new" one is faulty too

Microsoft have been useless - still waiting on the email they said they would send on Monday to give instructions how to return. Phoned them today and quoted ref number they gave me - stated have no record - hung up in disgust
