Gametrailers have a couple of videos comparing the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Tiger Woods and Tony Hawks. There seems to be very little to choose between the two from what I can see. |

Gamer TV ran a feature a while back where they compared multi format games on PS3 and 360 and their conclusion was the same - there's not much to choose between them at the moment. I guess, though, the gap will widen once they stop making games for last gen as well. At the moment, there's really nothing that excites me on PS3. Of the only two games that I had my eye on, Assassin's Creed is coming out on 360 and Resistance Fall of Man looked decidedly "meh" when they showed it on Gamer TV the other week. I doubt I'll be even trying to get a PS3 at launch. |

That is the good thing about them being similar, as choice of a console is down to the games on it and not which is more powerful. But I am sure that the "fanboys" can quote stats to support why either machine looks better <_< I am also not going to be getting a PS3 anytime soon, I am not a big RPG fan and the likes of Alan Wake and Bioshock are looking promising on the 360. I am not even looking forward to MGS4 and GT5, which the previous games have always been favourites of mine. |

Totally agree Aru - GT5 would have been a *must* have if not for Forza / PGR3 and Forza 2 to come. Forza finally weaned me off the GT series by having as many "tinkering with your car" opportunities if not more. I like my 360 and the financial controller has indicated that body parts will have to be sold off if I want to add "yet another" console to the fold (PS, PS2, XBox, 360 and 4 PC's). <meh - can't even read properly this weekend.....> |

There are some actually quite grown up thread over at the AVForums about this Couple of guys there have a PS3 - have to admit that seeing the unit side by side with teh 360 it does look very nice and the dashboard (same sort of front end to the PSP) is also very nice Both seem to be very taken by them, but both seem to question just how much better than the 360 it is and is it worth the money For me I am more than happy to wait til next Summer (and more than likely this time next year) and carry on playing my 360 (when I get one that works that is) |

Ditto...also with the actual "working" bit as well - it's getting harder to tell if it's the actual 360 that's fucked or the games these days - WTF's up with that? Surely the games should be getting MORE reliable as time goes by? |

To add my 2 cents - I don't think we will be seeing much difference between multiformat games on these platforms. Simply because if the game is developed for any of them, it's going to look good enough for porting straight to the other console without any graphical tweaks. I seriously doubt EA et all will be making full use of either console at the moment anyway with any multiformat game. How many games on the 360 make use of all of the processors? I'm guessing not many. I think we'll only be able to compare exclusive titles for the differences in graphics and even then, its not going to be a fair comparison as the games will be completely different. |

Now here's something interesting: http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ridge-racer/3...nces-214519.php Basically, someone's compared screenshots taken at the same points of the same course in Ridge Racer 7 on the PS3 (at 1080p) and RR6 on the 360 (in 720p). The 360 version has more detail and better textures all round. Probably more a testament to the relative development times that Namco had on each console rather than the actual power of the machines. |

And there's been summink published which states that CoD3 and Tony Hawks Project 8 don't run at 720p but at 1080x620....or summink. I miss my C64 Which was 93.1% better than the Spectrum. Fact. |

Ummm..... actually the PS3 shot looks a bit better in many instances. The colours are much more vivid and realistic, it looks a bit smoother and the foliage below the bridge and cloud detail is superior. It looks like swings and roundabouts really (the PS3 shot loses out in one or two building details) with the course appearing to be slightly re-designed but overall I would actually say the PS3 version looks more pleasing to the eye and naturalistic. You need to see these things moving anyway. Really looking forward to the PS3 actually. Motorstorm looks awesome and great fun and Resistance is shaping up to be a sweet FPS. Add to that Heavenly Sword and Warhawk (a game I have long wanted remade) and I think I will be first in line for Sonys slab in the spring, despite having bugger all money. Add to that the fact that I really want a Nintendo piss for crimbo and that means the house will have to remain in a state of mouldy decay for another year..... |
