That's bloody impressive so far Jocky. I wondered if someone could do me a favour? Could you take some snapshots as you do one of thses designs? I haven't ever used this painting thing before and wanted to see how something like that megaman is built up using shapes. I know it's a big ask but I have a specific design I want to do and have no idea where to start to be honest. Cheers. |

http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/thread/213264.aspx This is the way I went about it - and if you think it needs any skill then I think you're quite wrong - I couldn't draw a raffle in real life. It just takes time - about 3 hours to do that above. I went a little step further than the tutorial and actually printed off a couple of target pictures - one I drew circles, ovals and rectangles on to get the basic shape, and then I started mapping stuff out in Forza. As the tutorial says, the lighting and shadowing are what make the picture I think - with cartoons that means the odd light spot (very easily done) and then a darker shade of each colour here and there - in my pic look at the spot on his helmet, and the contrast between the left and right sides of his helmet, as well as the shadow on the bottom of the blaster (done with two overlapping ovals). The only other thing I can say is don't get too picky about details and stuff because you'll never see it outside of the editor, and even then it's only you that's seen the source material. Mega's left arm should actually be sticking out to the right rather than bent at the elbow - but if I did that I'd have to draw his fingers, which I'd never get right... |

Bloody hell. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the painting, but that's way more hardcore than I'll ever get. You notice on mine that there aren't any black outlines anywhere, and I'm pretty sure that's the way it's going to stay... Somebody should make a F-L or Gamecell livery - either of those should be quite easy. |

I started last night and lost my temper Was going to attach it to each car Not huge, something subtle along a skirt and possibly below a window, but as said I lost my temper Mind not sure it would go on my Bentley

One of the reasons I haven't tackled painting mine yet, is that I have a very specific image I want to create, and I know i'll struggle to get it looking right. Especially in the eyes of those who know the image. And that will piss me off if I sit for hours. I need a few hours free one evening but having too much fun playing right now. And thanks for the webpage Jocky, looks useful I have to say. I'm actually a good artist but translating what I want using the limited tools could prove to be tricky for me. |

Photos, photorealistic or complex images are possible, but take a long time to do. What ya looking at doing? |

I actually sat and had a look at the tools before and a stumbling block is the lack of a font I had hoped would be there but isn't - a kind of "real writing" font. There is one close but not right and because I want to recreate an album cover (it's a little surprise so I don't really want to say just yet - although it's nothing too fancy) it could prove to be a bugger as the font is key to the whole thing. I could have sworn I had seen the font used on another car though. Seeing the webpage you linked to though, and seeing the shapes available has shown me that the the actual image will probably be easilly doable. Just need to work on how I could do the font. I'm a bit disappinted, that with usb ports on the 360, they haven't allowed a freehand approach via a mouse. I could really have gone to town then! |

Yeah, it's a shame, although for graphical performance reasons I don't think they could currently do freehand or indeed dropping in your own images from a memory stick or something - displaying a bitmap wrapped around a car would probably make the 360 GPU melt, not to mention it would absolutely munch memory. |

Yup - all those cars racing round with hi-res fannies daubed all over em would bring Live to a grinding (squelching?) halt. EDIT: Oh, and speaking of fannies - get a load of this - fuckin LMAO:

The more I play the career mode on this the more it starts to annoy me Currently at level 25 with around the same number of cars in my garage - majority of which are upgraded and tuned The problems I am finding are this (1) Even with all them cars its hard to find any races to take part in. And all the races I can take part in my cars are too underpowered to stand any chance. This the results in half hour of racing round in a circle with difficulty settings as high as they go to earn enough money to go back and upgrade a car. Said car then seems fuck all use for any other races and have to repeat again (2) The menu system feels clunky - I may be missing something but is there any way of changing what car you are driving without having to go back to "MY CARS" ? For example, choosing the wrong model porche for a race sees you having to press B a couple of times, find the car you want, select get in, navigate all the way back to race and then race Game would be a lot smoother if you could choose a car then choose just the races that car is eligible for from the same screen Starting to feel have had enough of the single player game - its more an RPG grind than a racer |
