Been crusing some forums for sailors and came across this GT5 info on a fair few of them. Apparently taken from the Gallic Sausisson magazine Joypad.

-All cars from Gran Turismo 4 will be in Gran Turismo 5, in addition to all Ferrari and F1 cars
-There will be downloadable cars and tracks.
-The cars will take and show damage.
-You, as the user, will have your choice of 4 driving views.
-There will be new city tracks.
-There will be online multiplayer, with 12-20 users being able to participate any one online race at a given time.
-The weather can and will change, on some tracks, as you're driving through them.

I have put in italics internet moaning bastard issues

Be nice if its all true.

I don't think anything will persuade me to buy GT5. I'm right off straight racers at the moment (cancelled my order for Forza 2 after playing the demo and realising that I just wouldn't put the time in to get anything out of it) and, even if I wasn't, I found GT2 and GT3 dull and soulless in the extreme.

I tend to agree with ya.
Straight racers bore me in the extreme these days but if I make room for one its usually a Gran Turismo.

Mainly because there is so much depth to them and I think Polyphony model the cars better than anyone else (GT4 still looks fab).
Lap racing gets boring after a few days in all racing games so its the beautiful car collection, tweaking upgrades and challenges that GT games have to help you beat the tough circuits that makes it worth coming back to imo.

If the "take and show damage" makes it a TOCA replacement i might be tempted. I've not been liking the way TOCA has gone to forcing you to drive trucks / open wheel cars etc, but like others straight up racers bore me now.

Maybe if you could attach sharks with fricking lasers to your cars it would make it more exciting ;) In other news Wipeout for the PS3 is coming...

Completely (ish) off the GT5 topic, but I recently saw a vid of multiplayer racing on Stuntman: Ignition, and, you know what? It reminded me big-time of Rumble Racing.

Straight-up racing can get real old, real quick.

Stuntman's definitely got me interested - prompted by doing some of the races in Crackdown - needing to hook up a perfect run, timing your handbrake turns etc is definitely my thing.

Dunno whether I can be bothered with Forza.

...and the way in which I first came on the Gamespot scene to spout just how good RR was, and met all the Original FL Crew(tm).

Why do I get the feeling that Emily's having to fight for her mother's "attention". ;)

Only just had a peak at this but BY JINGO the E3 trailer looks impressive!

Photo realism is getting closer methinks.

Yes it's beautiful (and always has been), but flippin heck it can be boring.

Plus, STILL no chance of a 200mph into a wall resulting in any kind of (even limited) damage?

To my mind, the GT games have always got the look just right, but it can be a bit of a grind.

Oh indeed it can but then I find the exact same about all traditional lap racers damage or no damage (which is rarely anything more than a cosmetic effect and if it physically ran true it would be pretty much race over) They ALL play the same but I have always found the GT's have a bit more polish, almost like you actually owning these cars for real.

For me they aren't so much a racer but more of a 'tune up and find the right racing line in order to win game' The other cars on the track are merely there to keep you honest.

Hardly next gen gameplay (no road lap racers are), but sort of an eternal test of course and car management.

Good points well made sir!

Yeah - I guess the feeling of ownership is pretty strong - actually it is in Forza 2..err...too.

Some glorious in car footage.
Same old GT of course, its a boring circuit on show and the dude playing is about as good as Maureen from driving school but boy does it look crisp and smooth!

The in car viewpoint is selling it to me baby.
