Not sure what to think to be honest It seems to be another case of a game thats not really sure what it is Much more of an FPS than Riddick was yet the action and shooting never really feels as solid as in many other FPS games The story though is great and the whole game is put together with some real devotion. I guess at its heart its very much an "interactive movie" - just wish more effort was put into the shooting The weapons feel rather hit and miss in there use - sometimes a pistol seems to take a couple of shots whilst other times enemies can get up after being shot (again and again) Graphic wise it looks ok - the engine certainly seems to be showing its age a little and its not as polished as I thought it would be, but its certainly servicable Sound wise thought the game is fantastic, great use of 5.1 |

You just press the trigger to make it attack don't you? Mine fight over the hearts sometimes, but the right one aways wins - probably my favourite part of a disappointing game (so far at any rate). I wonder if the left one gets stronger later on...? |

At first, I couldn't decide whether I liked it or not, but then I got the hang of the powers and I started to really enjoy it. Setting up the enemies using the darklings is great fun and the sublime use of sound makes for a game with bags of atmosphere. It's not too linear either: if you want to take a break from the excellent story, you can watch a movie or do one of the side missions. By the time I got to the big twist at the end of Chapter 1/start of chapter 2, I was so immersed that it's now in my top ten of the year. The only disappointments are the graphics, which vary from lovely to a jaggy mess, and the aiming which is quite literally a bit hit and miss! There's also the odd bug - for example, don't spend too long on the sofa with your girlfriend, or you'll have to stay there until the film finishes or reboot. I was bit unsure about buying this game but I'm really glad I did now. |

Once you earn the "Darkness Arm"(?) power then you can select it (up/down on keypad) and press and hold the R1 button to zoom a tentacle out to impale and throw stuff around. Maybe you can just press, but i find holding it works better, and yes you must be fairly close. Practice on some lights. Otherwise the tentacles only eat hearts until you earn the powerup. I have to agree thats its buggy. Not sure if thats because i'm playing the PS3 version, which could be down to (shoddy) porting issues, but i know some bugs are in both versions. I gave it a 7, it's a fun game with strong story stuff, but has issues all over the place. However i dont feel i wasted the time of money playing it, so if you like that sort of thing well worth a gander. |

Have to say that just over an hour into playing and I'm bored. Was enjoying Juarez more at this point. |

I need to borrow The Darkness off someone - I'm too tight to buy it, but it seems up my street after I played the PS3 demo. Anyone? |

Well this is maybe for another thread - but why dont we set up a swap / sale thread the one I did with Jocky worked well enough (even if my Mrs did forget to post it) Maybe restrict it til a user has got a 100 posts to allow them to swap or something ? |

The only issue is diminishing trade-in prices if you're lending stuff out...but there again I always forget to trade stuff in anyway. |

Once you get the knack of swinging with the rope it's ok. Took me a good long while though. Then you've just got to get through the two or three sneaky bits with your sanity intact. |

Yeah - But I've only got a few games - sold the rest to dudes at work so doubt there's anything I've got that anyone else won't already have. |
