It looks like the next Burnout game is going to use the same sort of persistent world as Test Drive Unlimited.

Did anyone else notice to dead body floating in midair on the Assasins Creed demo, a bit embaressing on such a top title, no wonder the women doing the talking started giggling so nervously.

Epic seem to have exclusive deals for the Unreal engine with MS and Sony.

I am not convinced by the bikes in the PGR4 trailer, the feel of actually riding a bike is very hard to get right in a game. Very few have acheived it so far, most end up with them handling more like cars. We shall see.

There is a Burnout Paradise vid out there that actually (FINALLY) shows damage modelling akin to that of a crash test simulator...it's a sequence at the end of one of the latest vids. Still, I doubt it'll tempt me as Burnouts are too quick for my ickle mind.

EDIT: The crash physics I'm talking about are at exactly 2.00 mins into this vid:

That is very impressive Juz, I just don't know if this new game is going to be different enough from previous games to make me buy it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 "simultaneous worldwide launch, spring 2008". I will believe that when I see it. More like "simultaneous worldwide(except Europe because they dont mind waiting) launch, spring 2008"

I'm not sure it'll be different enough for me either (in this case, "different" read "slower").

I think that the CoD 4 movies are looking fucking astonishing, and all at 60fps :o

PGR4 looks kinda nice, and the idea of bikes and cars is kinda appealing, but....you know? ANOTHER racing game?

PGR looks lovely, but the biker in me just says - WHAT THE FUCK, when the rider takes a corner hanging off the bike with his leg stuck in the air. I mean come on.

I liked how PGR was moving away from the kudos bollocks. It's a shame it will be going back to more about looking cool, than having any knowledge of how to take a corner as fast a possible.

Other than that I think Microsoft showed more games I am interested in as a whole. I'm too lazy to worry about that Wii step/scales thing - although in something like a skateboard game it might be cool. Or if it could be utilised in Pilotwings somehow. Like the birdman sections they had.

The Home thing on PS3 looks dire. Convoluted nonsense that people will play with for 5 minutes before getting bored.

I'm getting grumpy in my old age. Having said that I'm enjoying the Ace Combat demo immensely, and it looks incredible.

E3 is not what it was - the world's press aren't looking at it in the same way, so I don't think any of the companies feel they need to make any mindblowing announcements.

Ditto.

But it's a no-win situation for race game devs innit? I mean, we've all pretty much had it with "straight" racing games so they have to come up with summink new.

I fuckin despise the cone challenges in the PGR games as they just remind me of doing a CBT Part 1 to the max.

EDIT: I forget mate - are you riding a bike at the moment?

Well here is my E3 round up.

MGS4 looked awesome. It's like a fucking top movie. Trouble is it may well play like one too lol. But you have always got to be interested in what a visionary like Kojama will come up with. The tech certainly looks impressive and I loved the music score that played.

Killzone 2 looked superb. Visceral, gory, beautifully lit, tremendously stylised.

Call of Duty 4 and Assassins Creed look pretty damn splendid on the multi format front.

Haze looks prett damn ace on the FPS front too with its drug addled jungle antics. Along with the next Unreal game Sony has secured two crafty and maybe very important timed exclusives.

Little Big Planet, Lair and Heavenly Sword all look cutesy quirky, graphic whorey and slashy epicy respectively again on the PS3. Drakes Fortune too continues to impress with its adventurey potential.

Microsoft seems to be a bit deflated and a non show on the exclusives front. Halo 3 and Mass Effect being the only noteworthies worthy of my attention and I cant say I'm that jizzed up with either of them yet.

No bike for me at the moment sadly - I'd love an R1 if I could afford it.

Yeah the cone challenges are rubbish. I wish they would junk tedious stuff like that. I'd have gotten all golds in PGR3 if it wasn't for the shitty bits like that, that I just couldn't be arsed with. The thought of doing them on a bike fills me with dread.

Oh and when I did my bike test, it was just 15 minutes of riding around the block while some guy stood on a corner watching. Those were the days :

My CBT Part 2 (in 1993) wasn't quite that easy - they'd moved onto the bloke riding on a bike behind you with a 2-way radio thing.

I'm not getting the use out of the Daytona at the moment, not even cos of Emily's arrival: it's this shitty fuckin weather that's screwin it for me :(

Yeah - cone challenges on a bike or in a car = teh suX0r.

For me the cone challenges are the best bit. But then I love a challenge, especially a semi freeform one like this that requires a little invention, and the fact that you have to learn the nuances of controlling your particular car make this quite unique among games.

I guess they just don't fit in with the rest of the game.

Exactly.

Make an add-on/download pack that consists of driving-test like challenges by all means, just don't try and mix tedious precision driving bits with a game that's pretty un-serious in every other respect.

Stuntman sounds like a whole game of precision driving. Hopefully they'll have the car physics and control up to scratch to keep me happy.

What you mean you can't do that???

But seriously i think PGR4 looks sweet. I'll look foward to doing a wheelie onto someones car.

I was also a fan of the cone challange because we all know how tedius 'real' racing can get *cough*forza*cough*

Nintendo had a poor showing

Sony had an excellent one, so many sweet looking PS3 games coming

I'll have to check thos burnout vids out
