They probably have to give you most of the graphics and physics engines, with textures/map/enemies being proportionately less, hence a 30 min game or 20 hour (as quoted by the devs) would need a chunk of space for the base stuff regardless.

Re graphic-whoring, some stuff looks great, but the lifts look ropey as, also if you look up as soon as getting out the bathesphere the big roof has jaggys everywhere. The pram when you first get the revolver dosent do dynamic lighting, walk around it and you dont cast a shadow.

I think some people (in the wider web) are gushing about "teh b3st g@me eVer" without really analysing it properly. I could pick holes in loads of places, but it IS only a demo, and really its nice just to sit back and enjoy the ride rather than checking every corner for tearing. Guess i'm just saying its got a level of hype which i believe is unwarranted at this point.

In other Bioshock news; Toy-R-Us has broken the street date, with gaymers getting their copies a week early! I pre-ordered a "limited edition tin" copy off GamePlay, hope it gets to me before Friday.

Yeah I noticed that you don't cast a shadow...or have any feet, but the whole thing was definitely made more atmospheric by being as good looking as it is.

So...are Toys R Us actually selling it in-store then?

I spent ages downloading the demo but I'm not sure I'm going to bother trying it. I know I want this game after seeing footage elsewhere, so why spoil anything?

I've ordered a regular copy from Shop to (I couldn't see that the tin was worth an extra tenner) so hopefully, if they are true to form, I will get it on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm on leave next week too, so will have plenty of time to play.

Play are doing one with a rather wicked looking faceplate for £39.99. Or is that what's in the tin version?

There's three versions:

The normal version (£39.99 RRP)
The 'steelbook' version (which is in a tin box and costs a fiver more).
The 'collectors' edition (which comes with a soundtrack cd, a making of DVD and a Big Daddy figurine and seems to cost £49.99.

I've given up on Shopto, so it's not like i wanted the tin edition, just want someone who will deliver on time/early and not High Street prices (paid £39.99). I dislike Shopto's user agreement, storage of your card details, and lets not get started on how shocking it is to just browse. Then there is the signed delivery, which is really inconvenient - last time i got my shopto game 2 weeks after release day, because Royal Snail couldnt deliver (although someone was in the house), then couldnt find it, then it got sent back so i had to get it redelivered

The collectors didnt seem worthwhile, not sure why but the UK always seems to get shitty collectors editions. For example the German CE for Two Worlds has a sword (well letter opener), t-shirts and all sorts of extra shit. UK ver is like soundtrack and "making ofs", which were in the german one anyway.

FYI - Liz popped into the local Toys R Us and they just went: "Huh?"

So, I'm guessing the street date ain't been broken at all of their stores.

As far as I am aware, it's Toys R Us U.S that broke the street date. Every picture someone has posted who has the game, has the NTSC version.

I am getting the tin too - the Big Daddy figurine looks really neat. Eurogamer gave it 10/10; a slightly more reliable source than OXM. I only read the last paragraph (avoiding spoilers) and it was about as positive as you can imagine. Can't wait!

I really, really, really want to be playing this next week.

But my 360 is dead and I refuse to pay £80 for a repair and 3 month warranty.

So I'm trying to work out the cheapest way to get one. Do I go for a new core pack £199 or try my luck with a second-hand version. Or is there another option?

What's wrong with it? Three red lights death is now covered under a free extended warranty.

Really? When did that happen?

I've had mine since launch and the three red lights for at least 8 weeks.

I few weeks ago, M$ said they would fix ANY 360 with the lights (provided you haven't opened it up).

Trawl the net for details.
