This is most excellent news, I knew you guys would come through for me - thanks!

Just hope they're quick on the turn-around...

Ah well, better that than having to explain to the FD why I've spent £200 on another xbox.

Top banana, they're sending a postage label tomorrow.

Now I'll just have to put my fingers in my ears and go "la-la-la-la-la" when you're playing Bioshock next week.

Should at least have it back in time for Halo 3. Just a shame there's bugger all coming out on PS3 to tide me over....

If you look at the small print, it says that the faceplate edition has sold out (despite the fact that it still offers you the option to buy). There's another item which is just the game for the same price and that still says that it's a preorder for 24 August.

I don't think they actually have it yet - someone's just made a mix-up when the faceplate version sold out.

Well after playing the demo though a few times and having a different view of it every time, I think it's looking like being another tedious, run of the mill claustrophobic FPAdventure with a few upgrades and puzzles thrown in to stop you from binning/returning it straight away. The graphics are hugely varied and the non-player characters look ridiculous and are completely at odds with the detailed environments. What's all the fuss about?

Yawn. Posted Image

I'm surprised this hasn't happened before, but it looks like 2K have cheated to make the game run in widescreen.

I'm surprised that this has passed the MS certification process. Fix in the works already I would have thought, but we won't see it for some time yet.

The widescreen is as how it was intended

And I agree with that being the best way for it, why should people lose out on precious horizontal viewing like in traditional crops for 4:3. The vertical field of view is certainly less important. Why does everyone kick up a huge fuss over something so trivial? It's certainly not worth boycotting the game for.

The install limit on the other hand...

The people boycotting the game are hilarious - the game's ranking 2nd in the all time game ratings on gamerankings.com for gawd sake.

The install limit is fucking stupid, as the only people that have a workaround are the pirates... Nicely summed up in the image on this page on Kotaku (debatably NSFW): http://kotaku.com/gaming/bleeding-customer...inue-292603.php

The demo, by the way, is woefully unrepresentative of the game - more of a tech demo, really. It gives you a tiny taster of combat at its most basic level, but the level design and structure is painfully linear and contrived compared to the rest of the game. The section featured is part of BioShock's introductory tutorial, and once you break out of that it's a much more open game.

Every other area is a freely explorable hub with wings, upper floors and intriguing diversions branching off it, and you can backtrack right to the start of the game from the end if you so wish. There are one or two other occasions when you're forced to lower your weapon, but... bah, I can't tell you why that's not a bad thing without spoiling it horribly.
