I can see that the game's not for everyone - it's slow paced and not really action based despite looking like a shooter. I just like the exploration and the richness of the environments - stuff like listening to people's audio diaries and hearing their changes over time, and don't particularly want a huge amount of action. Perhaps it's just a reaction to playing Halo 2 again - Bioshock seems quite similar to Condemned, but that game put me to sleep, whereas I'm quite enthralled by Bioshock. |

Let's put it this way: I'd been playing it on the home cinema system with the volume low so as not to wake Emily and enjoyed it - last night I played it via the amp through headphones and fuckin pooped me pants. There's one bit in the garden section that'll result in pant-poopage if the same thing happens to you (it may or may not be a scripted moment). But, yeah - there's other kinda side-missions to do as it progresses - researching stuff - I'll say no more, and then there's some RPG like elements whereby you can...well...make stuff. It works for me cos of the setting - it's fookin stunning. |

It's the first game i've turned the surround sound on for a while, but i've got it neighbour-bothering levels
Some good, stuff and the action ramps up at times, but not the super-killer app it was touted as. I think i'm looking forwards to Mass Effect more, just hope they've eliminated the annoying stuff KotOR had.**** SPOILER QUESTION BELOW **** Question: does the optical camouflage actually do anything? I mean it turns your hand invisible when stationary, but once an enemy has spotted you it dosent seem to turn on - so whats the point? (Edited by Jocky) |

Anyway here's another spoiler question... *** SPOILER ALERT **** (only read if you've completed the game) There's an achievement for not harming any little sisters, but none for killing all the little bitches? Boo. End spoiler. |

So... how good is this Bioshock thingy? is it all good gfx and no gameplay, is it fun but over in a flash? I'm considering buying it but it has to compete with Tiger Woods 08 and Two Worlds for my gaming money. |

Its the best game on the 360. Its all good gfx and good gameplay. Its certainly not over in a flash, but that depends as always on how good you are and how long your gaming sessions last. I wouldn't say its 'fun.' Its more, absorbing/interesting/spooky. And of course those two statements mean bugger all if you dont like first person shooters that rely on slow pace, atmosphere, exploration and collection. But you should DEFINITELY try it.

Hell, I don't even think it's slow; there's VERY little downtime, and you're pretty much always on edge. Corking FPS with supremely accomplished visuals and atmosphere. Top stuff. |

So far I'd say that it's the best game on the 360. It's a first person shooter, but you're only dealing with 1 enemy at a time, 2 enemies sometimes generally, and gunplay/action isn't the focus of the game. It's hooked me with all the exploring/looting you get to do and the general spookiness of the game (without it needing to go BOO at you). |

Its good but going to put myself on line and say its not THAT good For one it has zero re playability (well at least for me) - ok I could go back and do it on hard but the story is going to be the same The story runs out of ideas once its big twist and goes downhill from there - to me it feels a game of two halfs. The to the twist and the game after it. Once the twist is revealed the game becomes very standard in design and throws nothing new at you The game trys to be something other than an FPS but it fails, despite all the bolt ons and upgrades it is just an FPS game. I gave up on the plasmids very early on - the switching between them and the gun slowed things down and soon became annoying - with the exception of when the game forced me to use them I rarely bothered The crossbow is far TOO powerful. Once it was upgraded I never bothered with another weapon and it enabled me to take out big daddies wit ease. Crossbow + Incendary bolt + strafe = no longer getting killed. Also never got killed on the "final boss" battle useing same tactic, in fact he was possibly easier than the daddies. Game felt far too linear - yes I did explore and I did enjoy the way the story moved along with the diaries but I was only ever going along a path - with the odd exception it ever felt like you had a choice on how to aproach the game and each level was old school fps - A to B progression Dont get me wrong I enjoyed my time with the game and up to that twist I was thinking it could have been something special - just after that it left me cold and I was playing it just for the sake of completion |

DOH!! Les Dawson in drag AGAIN?! Man, when are these devs gonna try summink original???! Actually, I like the linearity of it - I've got Crackdown for the freeform stuff so being "dragged" along a story arc is actually quite lovely. It never fails to look gorgeous and there's actually quite a lot of humour stuffed in there too, along with a fair bit of tragedy. I haven't got to a "twist" yet, but am pretty sure I think I know what it'll be...but I may be wrong. |

No, but I'm now waiting for a plot twist rather than it being a surprise... |

I believe all the praise Eurogamer slapped on it was justified, but they failed to acknowledge the holes validly picked by Edge. Thus making it an 8 or 9 that is definitely worth playing, but it will leave you with the feeling that it could, and perhaps should, have been a 10. |
