Oh dont be such a drama queen Zai. You have chucked the 'fanboy frisbee' around with abandon and then sat back nicely and watched as if you are some self righteous man of moderation. You can see how it tastes now. Its kind of like marmite. Join in the show and get your hands dirty for once then we might learn a little more about you. If you cannot read anything more than a single dimension into my posts thats not my problem dude. I can't read bollocks all in yours cos you hardly say anything apart from cry FANBOY!! FANBOY!! Disagreeing, agreeing, banter and general replying to posts is what a forum is all about, when people actually have the guts to do it and say what they mean. Retrovertigo is worth ten of you on that score thats for sure. . |

****Slaps Head**** For crying out loud I DON'T KNOW ANY DEVS the post was a parody and a piss take of a previous post by Retro. Fucking Hell I've done my job far too well!. In fact I am going to save that as one of my greatest posts ever! P.S. Cant you PM what you know? Come on, there are far too many people like you and Retro with mysterious developer connections who apparently know something that the internet and all its continual newsleaks and researchers dont.... |

Warkhawk is a good example of onlie game - its fun - its fairly easy to pick up and play and it has a good group of people playing it Its also a good example of an online game by having periods of time where you cant log in and get online (one very LARGE chunk of time this week stopped me from playing it) Now thats the HUGE problem with online games, if the server is down or there are problems then you cant play it - £20 for a game and at times you cant play it when you want ? Bollox Mind its not just a PS3 problem, its a problem of all online only based games For me the PS3 will be used for exclusive games only whilst the 360 will be my multi-platform of choice Im happier with how Live works (for now anyway) and find it much more user friendly - ok you have to pay, but it works well so I dont mind doing so Again (for me) as a games console the PS3 makes a bloody great blu ray player |

No, its way too good for that Retro baby! Anyway, its a bit naughty of me to stir the ants nest and sod off but I have got to set off in an hour for a three day break and some top level shagging. In turn you lot can give me a good shafting while I am gone. I am sure you will all wish me a safe journey, a great time and to return soon for more unbiased and incisive gaming comment.... P.S. Yeah Dunk Warhawk is a real 'stard to log into at times, especially the ranked games which is what I want to play in the main. Its one of the many reasons I have never really taken to online gaming. |

Nuh-uh. If you and others can remember back to pre-San Andreas, I was kinda given the go ahead to blab about all the things that would feature in San Andreas like Jump Jets, BMX's and the RPG-lite elements of managing the lead character's weight and shit....fuck knows how many months before anyone anywhere got close to these details. I often wished that I shoulda linked to that post on every other forum I frequented as it woulda spread like wildfire and put FL on the map, but it would have also brought undue attention on the guy who gave me the info, and, in turn, his pal on the inside. And think about this: when was the last time you heard ANYTHING get genuinely leaked out of R* about a GTA game? They run a tight fuckin ship. So you see - I'd fuckin LOVE to pass on what I've heard about GTA IV, especially in reference to your piss-take fakery about it being shite on 360....you reeled me in, along with many others on here, and I feel ashamed because you always were a sarky old cunt who enjoyed starting fires under people's asses, but this forum's been too nicey-nice for too long I guess - we just ain't used to it anymore. We're turning into silly old farts with no piss-take detectors. |

After the little fanboy fracas that we've just had I had a little think about why exactly I'm not a big fan of Sony and the PS3, apart from obviously not being the owner of one. It's not exactly like i'm an M$ fanboy; you don't know how angry i got when i got the runaround by them when my console broke of its own accord. I've always been a Sony man-although i'd had a SNES and Megadrive before they were always shared and the Playstation was my first sole purchase. already there was rivalry with the Saturn (which my brother had), but short of sega rally and a couple of other games there wasn't a hell of a lot to play on it. Sony had the lead in sheer amount of games released for it. then there was the n64. more powerful than the PSone, but also more complicated and expensive to produce games for-the unusual return to cartridge made the games more expensive. the n64 didn't have market dominance as it was released later, and therefore PSone was more popular. although it's a bit of an anomaly as it housed some of the best games ever made-Goldeneye, Mario 64 and Zelda to name only a few. Here in both markets the Playstation was inferior in capabilities but because of its simplicity, both for consumers and developers, it sold well and created a huge market share before anyone else could step in. also the time when it ran unopposed helped greatly. I have always said that whichever console is released first (excluding the dreamcast, that doesn't count) will grab the market. that showed with the PS2's one year head start on the Xbox, which was no inferior piece of kit. I also said prior to the 360 launch that the delay of the ps3 would cost it dearly, and the delay in over a year has definitely had an impact on its sales, missing TWO christmas periods. the second mistake, which a friend of mine hates Sony for, is that they have press-ganged consumers into buying all this technology in one machine, half of which they don't actually want or will ever use. sure, the ps3 is GREAT value for money if you planned to buy all its components separately, but it's like a 'buy nine get the tenth free' deal at the supermarket. no-one needs all that shit. and no-one really cares that you can use your psp as a remote either-their Sony cross-promotion is sickening. Sony have their own memory cards for their cameras/camcorders etc, they come up with UMD for PSP and then stuff Blu-Ray and all other kinds of technology down their throats. They don't seem to understand that most TVs (even high-def) aren't good enough to receive the full quality of DVD yet, let alone HD and BR... By creating a complicated machine they have made it hard and expensive to develop for, as it has been said earlier, and five months on (is it?) simply nothing in coming in games-wise. I think Microsoft were unwise in making a few things as standard (unforgivable with the HDD), with hi-def components perhaps being a bit cheaper, and i can't see games being made on HD-DVD in the near future so i'm not really too fussed about any extra gubbins really. saw the new 120gb HDD advertised and wondered when i'd ever fill it? i've got a pc to watch films on etc. my 20gb is for game saves and the odd demo, most of which i delete not too long after anyway. who knows, as soon as the new wave of PS3 exclusives show up they'll justify the price tag. but, as i was six months into the 360 release, i'm not convinced yet. PS: sorry about the long post! |

This thread has thrown up some genuinely interesting arguments. I like to think I have never been a fanboy and always purchased from the heart. Barring the playground battles of Spectrum vs C64 (I ended up owning both at different stages). Initially when the PS3 was announced and so was the PS3 I thought I would get a PS3 without a doubt as I have never been a fan of M$ and never had an xbox 1. But I have bided my time so far to see how things pan out (amongst having a baby, enduring an extention and decorating work) and M$ appear to have the upper had. I now have a lovely Full HD set to enjoy it on too. Gameswise the Xbox would be a breath of fresh air for me. A lot of the "exclusive" francises from PS3 now winging their way to the 360. I was drawn by the promise of Blu-ray however reflecting on my pitiful library of DVD's (less than 20) I'm not a big movie buyer, rather watch em once. So I suspect a similar pleathora of HiDef titles will be bought. Once the Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD format is won I'll pickup a yamada or whatever is being churned out for £10 a pop at tesco to suffice. So there ta go, looks like Xbox Elite for me.... |

Good points here, i'll add a few I think the Blu Ray will be an advantage, massive storage for games can only be a good thing MGS4 Built in hard drive in every PS3 means games can be written to take advanage of it. GT5 Built in Wi Fi helps, payin £60 for the 360 one was annoying Much better downloadable games, warhawk is cool Its turning into a TV tuner next year so u can save ur tv shows to it, wud be cool for me |

I can only see one drawback with your post. For a £400+ machine you only actually list 2 games In fairness the downloadable games problem should get better now that Microsoft have increased the memory allowance to a few hundred meg. Increased storage just means more FMV so boooo to that And finally I'm not sure I would want my console switched on all the time either playing games or as a TVtuner. Not least considering the PS3 uses a few hundred watts as opposed to a dedicated recorder which uses much less. And the PS2 was a flakey piece of shite, I'd be scared of wearing it out using a PS3 for so many things (and no I'm not joking!) As you can see, I'm still right

Great debate, and time for me to pop my head above the parapet with a response. The 360 is an amazing games machine with iffy build quality. The PS3 is an amazing mediacentre device that also plays a few half-decent games. I think that's the road Sony is taking and right or wrong it's a bold move. For someone like myself with a restrained budget due to a growing family the PS3 is a god-send. It's allowed me to taste blu-ray for the first time but has also liberated my music and photos from the spare bedroom. My inlaws bought a PS3 purely for the media functionality. Maybe this is Sony's vision? The plans for Singstar, Sky+ functionality and the PSP compatability really notch it up a level. As a games machine though it's severely lacking at the moment. The 360 already has a library of classic games, but you have to have the knowledge and inclination to turn it into anything other than a games console. Great for now, but how good for the future? It's a fascinating war and one that only the consumer can gain from. However buying a PS3 as a gaming-only machine must surely be mad for at least 6 months. |

Get an Elite for the days of today, and have an uncertain future. Get a PS3 for the days of tomorrow, and know where you stand. Honestly, the Elite is a heap of junk in terms of build quality (just had my 2nd one sent back today), having been subject to rather excessive drive noise (way more than normal for an Xbox, and that's bad enough), and 2RROD (not 3RROD yet). 2 = overheated....on top of a cabinet in the open air?! Anyway, don't let me sway your decision - you get what you want. All I know is, PS3 on hella' solid machine, has some fantastic download games coming, Warhawk is the best online game I've ever played, Gran Turismo 5 pounds Forza 2 into the ground and then shits on it from a great height, LittleBigPlanet looks awesome... OK, so Microsoft have a better online service thus far...that will not necessarily always be the case. If you can, get both. They really are both good machines. If you can only get one - do yourself a favour, make it a PS3. |
