right chaps,

a friend of my bro's has just bought a Wii for his little lad so my bro has had a go and has come back to me raving about how good they are.... he is commenting on that it may well be gimmicky and lose its appeal very quickly, so now am on here asking you boys...

whos got 1? and are they worth purchasin'?

I am REALLY interested in Zelda, Metroid 3 and Mario Galaxy

wots Tiger woods like on it - i believe the wii sports golf is meant to be really good, is this anything like it and does it feel like your playin real golf?

any help / comments welcome.... hit me!

Mate, Zelda is so good it's worth getting a Wii just for that. 50-60 hours of gaming bliss, I promise you.

Otherwise ensure you have a fair stock of Mr Sheen as it'll be gathering dust until SM Galaxy hits the High Street.

Wii sports is a party game, not much fun or depth on your own. I'm sure that something else decent and original that uses the waggle will come out, but the real question is whether you're happy with all the usual Nintendo franchises.

I disagree with this. I've found plenty to play on the Wii, and I haven't even opened my copy of Zelda!

Resi 4 is great, especially if you never played it on PS2 or GC, as are Trauma Center, Red Steel, Wario Ware and Super Paper Mario. I love Mario Strikers Charged Football, despite normally hating footie, and you can play that online.

Call of Duty 3 is OK if you can live with the last gen graphics and the overly twitchy controls (the latter had me in a rage until I got the technique).

And, of course, there is the Virtual Console.

I wasn't going to buy a Wii originally, but I'm really glad I did. I do agree with Jocky, though - you do have to like Ninty franchises in the main to get the most out of it, and, however good the single player games are, it does really come into its own for drunken muliplayer fun.

As soon as i finished Zelda and Wario Ware and my family got bored of Wii Sports my Wii hasnt had much use, been playin trauma centre but not much of it.

Been waiting nearly a year for a proper game to come out on it.

Never really played on ours but Lucy often uses it

Current favs seem to be

Mario Party
Brain Training
Boogie
and Wii Sports

Have to say though I may have a go when RE:UC or Ghost Squad comes out

Thats why i havent got one (yet); Nintendo franchises feel stale to me now, new IP might hook me, otherwise it would have to be fully realised motion tracking in a sword fighting game - not the "do this movement for this attack" of Red Steel - and the other flare of interest would be if i could really use it for some excersise-while-gaming.

Overall theres no games out that appeal, so sue me if i like sitting on my arse on my sofa :P

Star Wars - Light Sabre

Fair comment about RE on the Wii Zai, I should have included that one, but given I played that on the GC I'd long forgotten about it. Still can't agree on the other titles you mention, I think (with exception on Paper Mario which I haven't played) that they're ordinary in the extreme. And I'd only ever go near COD3 on the Wii if I didn't have another console - far too meh! ;)

Played mine loads at first as everyone was ooh'ing and ahhh'ing over wiisports when they visited. Then I played Zelda on it, and then....................well, I own a 360, PS2 and also a DS. My Wii gets about as much use nowadays as my ZX81.

I just bought a Wii today, traded in my ps2 and the half inch of dust on it.

Hmmmmmmm new console smell, can't beat it. oh and I love the packaging the way its laid out in the box is nice, not even switched it on yet, going to take it to my mums tonight so the four of us can have a play.

I can already feel Zelda tugging at my credit card ;)

Well we just got home (1:05am) and we left at 6:25 so as you can imagine everyone loved the wii and even though we only had one controller we had a damn fun time.

I've never known my mum laugh so much, it was great fun. I can see our CoD2,Halo, Halo2 nights being dropped for wii nights now.
