Demo on Live. Pretty much as expected, it's just like PGR3 but with more stuff & it's slightly nicer to look at. The biggest disappointment was the flat, lifeless snow - it looks so last gen and is completely at odds with the realistic look they were aiming for. Maybe I have just adjusted post Sega Rally, but, in my memory, Colin McRae 4 had more realistic looking snow. |

I just played it for a bit and...... ....I honestly think I've had it with racing games now. Yeah, it looks pretty nice (not astonishing) and the much-touted weather effects (at least in the demo, and I'm willing to bet, in the full game) isn't TRULY dynamic, in that it starts raining at exactly the same time/place on one of the tracks. If there's gonna be dynamic weather, I want it to be utterly random. Despite riding a bike in R/L, I've never been sure that they translate that well to videogames, and this is no different. It's more forgiving than Moto GP, but then silly-physics whenever there's a shunt - something that I guess really HAS to happen with the amount of muppets there are on Live that'll happily ram you all over the shop. I honestly dunno what would impress me in a racing game anymore. |

Depends on how good the textures are! I hope they have "bikes" to ride too. Personally i think straight up racing games have had their day, they wont ever be realistic until you can have multiple TVs and racing wheels as standard or VR... so its games like TOCA or Burnout that will thrive, or the barbie-dress-up games like Hot Str33t racer XXX Ultra-Bling 4 <_< |

Excuse the pun, but how bizarre! Got this delivered today via Tesco's lovely online rental service, and the bizarre thing is that I've had more enjoyment in an hour of this than in many hours of Forza 2. Why is that? It just seems more fun than Forza 2, and I didn't overly rate the demo of it either. |

Hopefully, my copy will arrive today, if our post is ever delivered! (Virgin fucked up my preorder so I had to reorder from Gameplay.) Must say, I'm looking forward to racing round St Petersburg, although I'm disappointed that they haven't redone the Moscow tracks from PGR2. |

I still have mixed views on this game. I do some races and love every second, but then it throws a cone challenge or star challenge my way and I just get pissed off. If they want so many fucking cone challenges then rename it British School of Motoring 4. I am also wary of going online at the moment. I have loved playing Forza 2 online as most people seem a little more mature when playing a "proper" racing game and of course the tracks are nice and wide leading to less mayhem. PGR3 almost put me off online for good, people purposely bashing each other out of the way into the first corner and some of the tracks are so narrow I could see myself getting pissed off very quickly indeed. One thing that has puzzled me since number 3, they make claims for something ridiculous like a million combinations of tracks being possible if you edit your own, yet they only ever have maybe 4 or 5 versions from each city. Why the fuck don't they add more combinations in to begin with to keep things mixed up a little? So ummm, yeah.....jury is still out. I feel like I'm playing it "because I should", being a racing nut and all. |

Ummm...I haven't done any cone challenges yet. Once I do, I predict that my liking for the game will take a massive fucking nosedive: I HATE those fuckin things. The thing is, I'm actually pretty good at driving games (boast boast) BUT I have a very loose driving style -it ain't pretty and it ain't precise, but it gets me the results I'm after...so being forced to drive in a way that's equivalent to somebody telling me to hold my hands in the "Ten to Two" position in a game REALLY fucks me off. I'd rather they just kept the techy, jump-through-hoops bit of it in an entirely separate area, mainly because I don't actually think that it fits with the general FEEL of PGR anyway; it's more the sort of thing you expect to see in Forza. |

The main problem I'm finding is that they might throw a 3 series race your way that includes a cone challenge, a hot lap and maybe a race where earning kudos stops the clock. Now, the hard part is selecting a car that is a good balance for all 3 disciplines and no doubt some will say it adds to the challenge. But, I pride myself of being pretty decent at racing games myself and I want to excel if at all possible when playing them. I don't want each race to be a compromise because the car is great at sliding, but difficult to keep in check when going for a hot lap. I agree, separate sections for each discipline would be the best way to do it. Then all the weirdos who like driving through cones on lovingly created tracks, instead of blasting around them, can do just that

I've said it before - I lurve the cone challenges - it's the only bit of the previous games that made sense of the whole kudos system. |

Don't get me wrong, I love driving the tracks too but I don't think the game rewards you enough for fancy driving - in PGR2/3 most of the challenges were races/time trials, where the way to win was by driving neatly, not like a hoolie, which went completely against the whole kudos system. |

Maybe it's because PGR is more than just a glorified car painting / follow-the-line game... |
