Stick with the video until past the 2 minute mark :D

I have to say though, after watching the Giantbomb videos, I'm tempted by it for when I have friends over. Plus I think my grandkids would love kinectimals. Would keep them occupied for hours.

 Thanks for that m8 - they didn't make it look that slick at E3 did they? He sure does have a lot of moving parts ;)

I love 1:40, and then he surpasses it totally with an awesomely narly trick at 2:45. :applause:

P.S. having seen that, Deb says I'm offically not allowed Kinect, or at least not any sort of skateboarding game at home as she fears for the safety of the furniture, pets etc. :-/

Well who would have thunk it - an aligning of the stars saw Lucy decide this was what she wanted for Christmas (she is a big Wii player so guess natural progression) but she only told me the day before launch

Bugger I thought - I bet everyone is sold out, but quick look at play saw them still taking orders and thus she now has one - not opened yet saving it for when wall mounted TV but looks a nice bit of kit that im sure she will love

What has surprised me the most, is the abut turn a lot of "hardcore" gamers seem to be doing. On a couple of forums I go on, people were ripping in to it without obviously having tried it. But since they either tried demos in shops, or played on a friends, they want to buy one.

It is still too expensive for me to consider it though. Made worse by the fact it was recently revealed it costs MS $58 to manufacture. I'm amazed that they didn't launch at a lower price considering that it seems to be the biggest obstacle for a lot of people.

Yeah, there is that.

But the truth is that I genuinely can't see what advantage there is to using it.

Its eat my words time - blimey it really is a clever piece of kit

Set it up for Lucy and was genuinely impressed from second it started
The voice recognition is brilliant - does not have to "learn" and was able to pick up Lucy (or me) giving it commands with the radio (or hoover) on in background and during another persons phone conversation

Its motion detection as well is just very clever - so subtle - that dancing game really shows just how small or exaggerated a movement it picks up - its not just a case of making a move slightly similar - you have to make the exact move, and it CAN tell

The only problem though is the room - not got a 6ft clear square in front of TV ? then may need a rethink

Got tis today after my uncle gave me a generous cash present for Christmas (snagged it from Amazon when they had the deal on -£120 with Dance Central)

And you know what? It's bloody good fun. Unlike the Wii where you can cheat at dancing games, Kinect has none of it, you need to be pretty good at doing the moves. Thankfully I'm a natural so I haven't struggled so far - ahem!

People are always telling me I don't need to lose weight as I'm skinny, but fuck me when it takes photos of you, it must add 10 pounds as I look like I have a belly on me, so I'll be using this a LOT!

Kinect Adventures is actually better than I envisaged. It lacks variety, but as a showcase for how Kinect tracks movement, it is impressive. You can do some funky moves onscreen and it replicates them amazingly well.

I'm just not sure where it can head in the next year. I have yet to try Kinect Sports which seems to be the other must have title at the moment, so maybe I'll see more potential when I have bought that.

Gotta love how it recognises you then when you step in front of the camera. And as Dunkle says, the voice recognition is really good. They just need to get more commands programmed in and have the whole dashboard respond to it for it to feel like it is better implemented on the 360.

But yeah, considering I was playing on my own for nearly 2 hours, I had a great time. And was completely fucked by the end of it. Oh and space wasn't as big an issue as I had feared to be honest. The couch is diagonal to my TV and I thought it might get in the way but it was fine. Thumbs up so far.

Whooooo... I read this twice cos I couldn't believe it. Did I read it right, does this mean a major swing in Teleclan brand loyalty, and is Mr. Sony aware of said market sway?

As impressive as the recognition capabilities may be, Kinect games are seemingly all pants as far as I'm concerned, utter pants. The four or five games I've played all lack genuine accuracy, have noticeable lag and all give me pains in places I didn't know I had - as, it should be said, do some Wii games that demand movements totally alien to even fit and active people. Unlike Wii games however, with the competitiveness of some 360 gamers I reckon over-Kinecting could actually kill someone, if it hasn't already. But that would probably just be natural selection working at its best.

My only problem with Kinect is the insistence that EVERYTHING has to be body controlled

Lets make it that all menus can be navigated by the game pad at all times should the user wish

I'm surprised voice control isn't used more in-game to be honest. I've been enjoying Kinect sports quite a bit, but it doesn't have a quick way of getting back to the main menu. Simple voice inputs for "back, menu" etc would really help matters.

Hopefully a lot more will be added when they do the update which supposedly has more fidelity as well.

the main face buttons and a D pad on a seat band
