You should download the new TIGER WOODS PGA TOURŪ 12 Demo! It has a cool new XP System that lets you begin earning Experience Points which you can later apply to your character in the full version of the game!!!

Yes, but coolest new feature is that it also encourages you to spam this half-assed seemingly bi-annual ripoff to all your friends for extra XP, like some desperate Electronic Arts-touting pimp! Still no waitress/lap dancer shagging, Escalade-crashing, career-flushing minigame though.

Either of you guys played John Daly's ProStroke at all? It's really pretty good. Graphics are sort of last gen looking and is a pretty bare bones budget title. But the golf itself is the best I've played since Outlaw. Definitely worthy of a shot if you guys run across it at the gamestore. It's only 30 bucks new, so if you can find a used one it ought to be dirt cheap. |

Yeah I tried the demo and didn't think much of it, visually or controls-wise. If I want to swing like real to play a golf game I'll just go play for real, then the shots go in the right direction and the right distance, I don't have to press 20 buttons to figure out how far I have to hit it, I don't get all the strange aches I get playing Move or Kinect games and no family members, pets or furnishings get hurt during a round. Also, NO danger of seeing Daly pants and damaging my already knackered retinas further. Playing TW12 right now and it's ummm.... okay, very pretty (particularly Augusta National) and they've genuinely improved some of the control issues. The ball physics are way in advance of JD's game, and the way the ball rolls and takes contours on the faster greens has to be seen to be believed. I know a few people have been complaining about other problems with TW12 but one thing that that's annoyed me above all other gripes is that those money-grubbing fuckers at EA actually had the nerve to include premium courses in the tour schedule!; so you have to "skip" them if you don't want to buy them, even if you already "bought" them in last June's game! Am I naive and unrealistic in thinking that maybe things like DLC golf courses, race tracks or FPS maps should work with the next iteration of a game, especially if it arrives within 9 months and feels like an update rather than a sequel? |

Oh yeah, visually it's a dog. But I actually think the controls are pretty good. I don't care for the Move stuff, but alot of people say the move implementation is actually better on JD. I really like the swing mechanic in pro stroke mode where you use both sticks left to right instead of one forward and backwards. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it's definitely alot more difficult and rewarding from tee to green than TW is IMO. Putting is just as easy, but that seems to be a common problem with all golf games. Putting is always stupid easy. I've actually decided to skip TW this year for the first time in forever. To me the gameplay on TW is just crazy easy and with this caddie stuff they seem to be wanting to make it easier. Then that DLC bait crap that I hate. Especially when you realize that the extra 50 bucks in day one DLC that was out there, was just the courses the Wii version gets all on the disk. It's disgusting. In Pro Stroke's favor there's 4 free courses to download for it. Edited by Killer Miller, Apr 22 2011, 04:26 AM.

Y'know, cos all the blurb was hyping up the Move compatibility I didn't even think to try it with a joypad! Disgusting is the word - have you seen the Wii version? They should pay you to play it.

It's a whole different game with the joypad. Evidently I hate motion gaming as much as you, so I don't play. But everyone does say the Move is better on JD. But to me the controller gamplay is sheer brilliance. There's two different ways to play with the controller. One is the typical behind the golfer stance where you just pull the left stick back/forward to swing. Just like Tiger and every other golf game out there. But then there's Pro Stroke mode where you are in first person looking down on the golfball at address. To swing you use both sticks, left to right, to make the swings. Left stick controls the swing itself, right stick controls weight transfer. Then if you want to hit a draw, you don't hit some magic draw button that sets up your stance for you, you set it up yourself with ball placement, your stance, how you swing. It really leaves you thinking out every shot from start to finish. I think it's brilliant. Tiger I can play and shoot in the -20's sleeping while blindfolded. On JD I have to think out ever shot and while you can still go low due to the easy putting, par is in play if you loose focus for even a second. Love it. The full game new is 30 bucks here. It's developed in the UK so probably cheaper there. Worth a shot if you run across it. It's even got free DLC. Edited by Killer Miller, Apr 23 2011, 05:42 PM.
