In case anyone misses them, as well as a choice of 2 free games from a list of 5, there are also 3 (not very good) films that you can download. They are Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, House of the Dead 2, and maybe the best of the 3? Resident Evil: Degeneration (the CG movie). They are only available for free this weekend and then you have 30 days in which to watch them. They are available in both SD and HD. Once you start viewing, you have 48 hours to watch them as often as you want.

Also it has been noted by many people that if you had multiple accounts (i.e U.K, U.S and Jap) you can download the free games on each account and thereby get pretty much all the games offered. You can't make a new account for those territories though, they need to have existed before April 1st 2011.

I personally grabbed Infamous and Ratchet and Clank and I hadn't played either.

I was going to get Infamous and Dead Nation but after reading some of the posts on the playstation forums it looks like the download of infamous can't use the saves created with the disc version.

I'm trying to get Infamous and Wipeout, but they're downloading at a rate of about a megabyte an hour so the PS4 will be out before it's done! :D

I downloaded Ratchet & Clank + Wipeout (UK account), Infamous + Dead Nation (US account).

Played inFamous to death, but traded it in so happy to play that again, R&C is supposed to be uber-short, that Dead Nation looked nice for about 10 mins and then bored me stupid, and Wipeout HD/Fury acts as if game development sat still since 1995.

GREAT SELECTION!!!

Thinking the same and guess quite a clever tactic by Sony

Know loads of people with either very slow (under 1mb broadband) or a fairly tight limit (some with both) who just will not be able to take advantage

In an ideal world they should have just popped the games on a blu ray and posted it out (my Casion Royal only took a couple of weeks doing something similar)

They should have just put PSN points on everyone's accounts so that you could buy any game you wanted, joined PSN plus (though quite why anyone would be that insane is beyond me :) ) or bought DLC for existing games.

As people have pointed out though, it is a crappy choice. I don't mind Ratchet and Clank, but isn't the last game in the series the best one? Infamous isn't doing a thing for me so far, and what is worse for a graphics whore like me, it looks fucking shit! I mean seriously, cars and detail popping in out of nowhere. If you can't program a game that copes with detail like that, just don't put it in in the first place.

Shouldn't complain too much though, as it was free after all. And a bonus for Sony, it made me switch on my PS3 and use it for gaming!

Mate, I have to say that I just had to try inFamous again last night, and thoroughly loved it - that game just worked for me.

It clicked immediately (on the demo way back when) for me like Crackdown did...maybe give it time bro?

Edit: just to say that I've been playing inFamous all night! Finished this mofo and played it to death 2 years ago now, but thoroughly loving being back there. Guess I'm easily pleased!

Good point m8, but there are two slight flaws with that plan: 1/ it would have made sense and kept people happy instead of making even more PS3 owners jump ship, and 2/ it would have had about 99% takeup, meaning Sony might have had to buy a new mainspring for their server.

Harry's got Spirits Within on DVD and I've watched it twice (well, probably more accurately "fallen asleep to it twice") and failed to understand a thing either time, so I got House of the Dead 2, and Resident Evil: Degeneration-which I watched last night, and it's pretty damn good, apart from the crappy lip sync. It's like one long high quality Resi cut scene complete with occasionally daft dialogue but without the annoying herb collecting, item juggling and shite shooting mechanic!

Games-wise I got Killzone Liberation and Pursuit Force for PSP as I'd played the others and LBP (I must be wrong about this, and wanted to give it another shot some time) and Wipeout HD Fury: Sat Still Since 1995  (best subtitle ever, and SO true - sadly no Prodigy Leftfield, Orbital or ChemiBros though, so I can't see me playing it).

Don't forget the free PlayStation Plus games too (and other than inFamous they're probably the best of the bunch, certainly the more addictive of the ones I've tried); 'Babel King of the Blocks' 2D block-dropping puzzler with this-gen physics and the brilliantly titled 'The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character' (the title pretty much reviews the game.) The problem with all these puzzle game time wasters for me is that they always hit a wall where they cease to be enjoyable as the level design gets too bloody hectic or requires more precision than brain surgery...
Subtitles are available on Teletext page 888

@Juz, I do intend to stick with inFamous to see where it goes. But coming off the back of Crackdown 2, the platforming/climbing just feels very restrictive. The guy clearly wants to stick to certain sections of walls and drainpipes and I find it weird after being free to do pretty much what I wanted in Crackdown. But I guess as his powers improve, so will the freedom?

Diddly, totally forgot you can get some free stuff on PSN+, I must have a nosy as I thought I saw mentioned somewhere that Street of Rage is on there, and I'd certainly be up for a blast on that.

Like a tool I totally screwed up Resident Evil: Degeneration. I forgot about the 48 hour thing and watched the first couple of minutes to see what the quality was like. And of course that started the 48 hour timer!

Yeah, inFamous off the back of Crackdown 2 would seem a bit "sticky"....my prescription: play summink else (preferably an FPS) for a while and then go back to it.
