http://www.rockstargames.com/ the logo for the 5 doesn't give anything away sadly.

There aren't many companies that can pull off an announcement of an announcement, but you just know those Rockstar servers will be hammered on Nov 2nd.

Looking forward to see any details. For the first time in many years I haven't had any insider info on the game. Gonna try my best to see what I can find out though.

Going on past announcements I guess we are 10-12 months away from release?

edit: it would be awesome if it was due for release April next year. By that time it will have been 4 years since GTA IV's release and a short run in time to release from this trailer would be fantastic :)

I just hope that they remember to inject some actual, you know *fun* back into the game this time. I found GTA IV to be by far my least favourite of the series so far...and it was a jerk-o-thon in places too (but that's nothing rare for a console GTA game).

Thought it was almost a foregone conclusion that it was a return to LA/Hollywood/San Andreas this time?

Yeah LA is pretty much guaranteed. I was wondering more about the era it was set in. I was hoping the logo might have given a clue.

Still, I have no doubt I'll be blown away by it. I know people thought the shooting was vastly improved in Read Dead Redemption, but the world itself is boring as fuck to be honest. Never felt any compulsion to replay it once I had finished.

Ah well, the "mystery" is over, it is LA, or more correctly wasn't it called Los Santos in San Andreas? Looks like there's room for a huge cityscape, Californian (whoops, I mean Andreasian) mountains, wind farms, vineyards, crop dusters and maybe even jet planes in there so it must be huge, maybe a "re-imagining" of San Andreas itself. I can't flippin' wait. :coolspot: <- that's my happy dance.

Can't wait either mate. I think it's clear (and will please Juz no end) that they look to be bringing some of the fun back to GTA. The jetski's, crop dusters, fighter jets.....all looking good. That plus a location that clearly has some diversity to it.

One of the first comments I saw on another forum (or may have been youtube) was "Uncharted 3 pisses all over it graphically. Totally missing how GTA is a HUGE world, and anything you see, you can usually get to.

Shame there wasn't mention of a release date though. And interestingly they didn't mention platforms either. I have a sneaky feeling we were watching either a P.C or more likely, the Wii U version in that trailer.

Yup agree with both you old farts on everything. Couldn't help but get excited all over again.

I'd put money on Retro's summation that this was either PC, Wii U or "target" renders as it had no hint of the jerkiness of IV. Love to think they've smoothed it all out and made it look this lush but...

It's been mentioned in several places now that its likely you play as several characters. Many are speculating that the older guy is Tommy Vercetti from Vice City (not sure myself) and that the black guy we see is an older C.J from San Andreas. That plus the bum being Nico (not really sure it looks too much like him personally).

But the thought that it brings together the three main protagonists from three older games would indeed be pretty cool I think. But a couple of fly's are in the ointment. One is that the Housers have said they would never work with Ray Liiotta again - although having someone else voice him after all this time wouldn't be so bad. However, the guy who voiced Nico isn't likely to ever work for them again either after he whined like a bitch about his pay after he saw how well GTA IV sold (tip for you mate - do some fucking homework on a series you are going to star in) and so having another voice actor for him so soon after IV might be a little odd.

Either way, its fun reading posts spreading across the net now and seeing screenshots where people have found little clues as to what might be in the full game (the police car logo show a possible pic of bigfoot for example)

Analysts are also predicting (I know, I know) that they may well be aiming for a May/June release. The game does indeed look a long way toward completion from that video.

edit: Just seen a screenshot from the video where the guy is hammering the for sale sign into the ground outside his house. The sign says "for sale" and is right above a large house number "2405". Does that mean For sale 24th May" as the guy who posted it has suggested?

I don't care about voice actors tbh.

Any chance that this could be a "target render" for the XBox 720?

Nah I've given this some more thought and think it is the usual case of hd videos looking great on p.c screens because they aren't blown up to 42/50 inch screen sizes.

Rockstar have a knack for making their games look great in trailers. It's not really doing anything the 360/PS3 couldn't pull off I don't think. After all, the city has far less huge buildings in it, and so I'd expect the draw distance/quality to be really good.

I thoroughly loved San Andreas...including hanging round those woods where cars would just silently roll in...and looking for a Bigfoot!

Rockstar have released some new screenshots this week. Possibly prompted by the positive reaction to Sleeping Dogs, and so wanted to remind people they are still the kings of the open world?

Anyway, hype is through the roof in my case now. Cannot wait. Sadly I lost touch with someone a couple of years back and so haven't heard much news on this game at all.

Super hyped for this game now after the new details released the other day. Link to scans here: http://fast1195.imgur.com/grand_theft_auto_5_gi_reveal

I'm a sucker for huge game worlds, and apparently GTA V is bigger than San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV combined. Which is pretty fucking big!

Key points are that it features three main protagonists whose stories criss cross a la GTA IV. You can apparently switch characters at any time to follow their stories.

There are mountain bikes, BMX bikes, planes, jet skis....you can go scuba diving. There is a full golf course which they seem to say you can play golf on!

They talk about making missions more involving, citing the bank heist in GTA IV as an example. Which for many was a highlight of GTA IV.

It does concern me about how it would all fit on one disc on the 360 though, and I do wonder if it will involve a disc swap at some point. It all sounds fantastic though - at least to me :)

Not just you, homes! Sounds fucking amaaaaaazing!

Disc swap? Nah, just ship it on 2 or 3 discs and then install em on the HDD...sorted. Or, and I can't believe I'm saying it, just get it on the PS3 (assuming they've finally cracked its ridiculously complicated architecture).

My only concern with GTA V (and it really is my only concern) is that the frame rate will be as shit as all the previous ones have been on console...would have wet my pants if MS had just paid R* $25m to have this as an exclusive 720 launch game.

:(
