I never "got" the other infamous titles but as with anything on the ps3 if it was not by naughty dog I never really played it for more than an hour or two. I'm also not a huge fan of the open world sandbox top style games, with the exception of the fallout / eldar scrolls type RPGs That said I'm still a little tempted to get a ps4 infamous bundle, just the likely redundancy next year and baby in may stand in way ! Thief ? Loved the pc games but there have been 2 recent previews online that have left me cold, comments that the world around you does not react to you and that at times just running full pelt to the target and back resulted in the same outcome as spending an hour sneaking there has made me at least wait til the reviews are up Drive club ? Enjoyed forza but I'm just not enough of a car fan that another car game would likely do anything for me Mgs5 - quite like the fact it's now Sutherland playing the lead but I have never got any of the previous games in the series, they confused the chuff out of me with hour long cut scenes and a confused chronology and a cast of characters I have no idea who are. Also the previews basically say that this is little more than a "tutorial" for the main game (although a big one) again don't sound that good Then we have watch dogs, I really feel as if this will be another assassins creed series and lie said series the first game will not love up to the promises of its previews and trailers. It just looks like yet another open world game with the potential to hack things. It just sounds a little boring to me and I feel, that within an hour or two you will have used all the gimmicks shown in previews. Steal a car, get persued, hack the traffic to escape, repeat. I'm not sure about any of the upcoming games at all ! Titanfall could be something special, but will it have enough to take me away from battlefield 4 ? Also will the always online but still playing through a story thing work ? I'll wait for the online word of mouth I think The probably only guaranteed day one purchase over next month or so I think will be plants vs zombies ! Further afield,, well eldar scrolls online can fuck off with its monthly subscription, not interested, been caught out before and would much rather them have just done a new and next gen single player title Looking at all that I think I may buy lego marvel whilst it's cheap knowing that I'll probably have plenty of gaming time in hands before long |

I've got serious doubts about Watchdogs. I know the general consensus is that it was delayed to maximise AC Black Flag sales. But considering how long ago it is since it was first shown, there hasn't been that much put out there. I think I've seen one mission being played out. I reckon it won't live up to the hype. Personally I think the next truly great game to come from Ubisoft is going to be The Division. I think that will be one of the multiplatform games I'll have to go with the PS4 on. The game world looks so detailed that I'll want to see it in the best possible quality. Edited by Retrovertigo, Feb 9 2014, 08:33 AM.

Praise The Lord! It'd just piss me off for a bit if true, but I wouldn't get an XBO because of it. I'm kinda with you on what you're both saying about the games I've mentioned (except Infamous...it will FUCKING rock), as games that come out at this phase of a new generation always feel....Un-optimized I guess is the best way of putting it. My BIG money is on Mad Max....genuinely believe that Just Cause 2 is the very greatest sandbox game of all time, despite a few little niggles. One of my fav movies (Mad Max 2) + developer of my fav games = potential uncontrollable spooging. |

I'm not quite so sure about Mad Max. The beauty of Just Cause, is that you could do batshit mental stuff. And all the toys that went along with that fitted in just fine. I'm not so sure that the grappling hook for example (which was obviously the best part of Just Cause 2) would work in the Mad Max world. It all might feel a bit grounded in reality? Which would be a bloody shame. I loved Infamous 2 by the way, but thought the first one was a bit shite :/ |

@ Dunk....come now, you can't possibly pretend that this was never gonna happen. You better be selling something else to pay for it though, or your conscience will never forgive you. @ Retro - yup I knows what you mean about the grappling hook; it's omission would be really missed, but probs wouldn't fit in. Oh and I loved both Infamouses...Infamice....Infami...games. |

Am I the only person here who isn't sandbox crazy? Give me linear every time. Even with GTA I just did the missions and pretty much done at that point. The only exception for me was Read Dead Redemption. For some bizarre reason I was quite content to chill out and do dome hunting. But even then my wandering about has a purpose or mission objective. Just Cause 2 came bundled with my Elite after my Day 1 gave up the ghost. I thought it was absolute toilet. Explosions and shooting (in the hammy extreme) and open world, yawn-o-riffic. Consequently I have grave concerns for Castlevania!

I'm normally a more linear type of game player too. Mainly due to playing in occasional half hour stints when I can. So I can easily dip back in and not get confused. However I have found AC4 strangely addictive and often try to clean up an entire island when coming ashore. Not sure which title to go for next, almost completed AC4 now. I'll probably wait and see which one piques my interest the most based of reviews. Infamous / Watch Dogs / MSG5 are on the list... |

See...I'm willing to give MGS a go after being BORED FUCKING SENSELESS by the last one I played with that fucking 40 minute (or whatever it was) unskippable cutscene, simply because it looks fucking amazing...and they keep implying that it's open-world. @ Indie/Tel - I think Tel just summed it up - Sandbox gaming enables you to just dip and do some shit and then bugger off...sometimes a linear game WILL let you do that but if (in the case of the epilogue level in Killzone) the Save Points are miles away it's a pain in the balls to just dip in. |

Shall we have another chat about Ryan Gosling? Not so sure about the dip in and out thing, beyond the mission based play, it doesn't do it for me. Can't quite put my finger on it but I just prefer linear type games. Don't get me wrong, I love exploring in games - after all Tomb Raider has always been my thang! Demon souls and Dark Souls too, you retread a lot of old ground and I fuuuuucking love those games! But it's not open world in the same way with loads of shit to do. Shadow of the colossus was just amazing. And is in effect open world. But is basically boss fights in the same world that you traverse to go from one big fight to another. But it is beautiful and I could wander for the hell of it. I guess that's A LOT different to living and breathing city/island/wherever, car racing, blow shit up open world. Only Rockstar make open world that'd I dip into. And then mission based play for the most part. Difficult to put ones finger on it! Far Cry, Crackdown, Just Cause 2 ... Meh!
