Day 2; Ramping up...

Have to say...might have been a bit off on my initial reads last night (see Day 1 Video). It may simply have been that there were some people (Marty, Becky, Ken) who are on a little earlier in the day (East Coast?), while others come on a little later (Edgardo, Ami, Sugar...West Coast?).

So...some further assessments...

Marty: Although we've had limited interactions...I'm finding he's been extremely easy to talk to and presents himself as very intelligent. Have decided I'm going to try to strengthen things here...I've already sent him a note saying I found it strange that our player images weren't at the top of the page, and asked what he thought of that...with a side note that I hadn't mentioned this to anyone else on the tribe yet, and wanted to bring it up to him first.

Becky: Things have been very surface level...had to get traction here, other than her being cheerful. Looking for that entree to dive deeper...she's involved in terms of frequency, but not necessarily connecting yet...

Lydia: She comments that she's short, and she comments on Russ's muscles. Beyond that...waiting to see where this evolves.

Tanya: Friendly like Becky and Lydia, but not much depth beyond that...but I'm still chipping away...eager to learn more...

Ami: This is an odd one. Some of her posts lend me to think she's a bit new...she said something about accidentally sending someone a PM instead of replying on a message board...and she doesn't reply to messages to me, she starts a new message every time. But...she seems friendly, and actually I have had more "fun" engagements with her than Beck, Lyd and Tanya.

Sugar: Quickly becoming a favorite...even though she didn't show up for a bit last night. I think we're connecting nicely, but she could easily be making this connection with others. But...at least it's fun and engaging.

Edgardo: Another surprise, like Sugar...again, all chalked up to them not getting on until later in the evening. Very pleasant...carries a conversation...looking forward to connecting more.

Ken: Almost forgot him...pleasant, enough, need to get a bit deeper with him.

------------------------

So, all that having been said...I kind of have three tiers of tribemates I'm looking at...

1) Marty, Sugar, Edgardo: By far, enjoying engaging with them the most...

2) Ken, Becky, Ami: Good potential, but need to connect with them more deeply

3) Tanya, Lydia: Quite surface level...but have had less sign of "potential" than Group 2 above...

Very cool that we're getting the best of both worlds: Video Confessionals as well as regular Confessionals. :)

It's interesting (as you've mentioned) that there really isn't any "dead weight" or "outliers" so to speak. Could make for an interesting first vote in that no one (yet) really fits that "so and so has barely been around" stigma as the first cast-off usually tends to be.

Already seeing an existing theme play out in my life that is going to repeat itself over the next several weeks....

Big client meeting is coming next Friday, January 18....and there is talk in the works of going out to dinner with the client the night before.

And this will be the first time that I'll be meeting this particular client....so the pressure will be fully on for me to attend.

If I can't duck out...and on a tribe of fully engaged people......I can already sense the cross-hairs on my back.

And now I'm wondering...am I playing too hard, almost like Russell...putting drills and exercises for us to practice with in our Tribal area?

Oops. Going to scale back a bit. A lot. Damage may already be done, though.

Always a "Catch 22" in the game. While things like that could genuinely help a tribe get their act together and become a cohesive challenge machine..............do people start
to target anyone taking a small leadership role early on?

Such a balancing act this game can be......

Oh...in case the game works a little like an RPG, just letting you know...Russ is subtly looking for a Hidden Immunity Idol in camp. ;)
