I've been crazy busy all summer but things are finally settling down a bit.

We decided to sell our house while the prices are high - especially in our neighborhood - and mortgage rates low. It was 5 bedroom and 3 bath near schools and only 12 years old. The boys helped us abuse it pretty good through their teen and young adult years, but they moved out along with my second cousin or whatever renter. So we ended up patching many holes in walls, painting the interior, new carpet, landscaping makeover, lots of other little repairs, etc. I think the total was around $30K in the end. Fortunately the exterior was painted just a year ago. We also hauled away around 30 minivans of stuff to donate and about 10 more pickup truck loads of donation and trash. We didn't consider it "cluttered" we considered it "deep." I got rid of virtually all my electronics and telecom stuff I've hoarded for years, and my key machine and collection of thousands of key blanks. Much of it was obsolete and you can buy anything on the internet now and have it delivered the next day, for the most part.

There was actually a surprising amount of drama and stress even after we thought it was "sold" and we were done.

Just last night I took discs of files to the other 2 homeowner's association board members. I was the secretary for about 5 years and it's nice to be done with that. We've had the same 3 guys doing that for way too long because none of the 35 other owners would volunteer.

For now we are renting a friend's basement while looking for a smaller, cheaper home in a less desirable neighborhood. We hope prices will drop - maybe if we elect one of the idiots running for President soon that will help! I'm torn between buying something all fixed up nicely or trying to renovate a fixer-upper. I get a 2-month paid sabbatical at work for being there 10 years in June, but I don't think the body will be up for doing too much construction myself.

I've had a big project at work that's about 2 years overdue now that is finally coming together as well.

The Rheumatoid Arthritis has gotten a fair amount worse over the last couple years, so I skipped being a camp counselor this fall for the ministry that caters to families affected by HIV and AIDS - lots of adopted and foster kids in that group - really nice folks and a really diverse group. I'm still mentoring one teen but am not going to be able to go hiking as much as he would like.

Lots of weird stuff at church with the new Pastor, so we left along with most of the other folks who had been there for very long and in leadership roles. It's been really hard looking for a new church that isn't too conservative and has more contemporary music. At least the HIV ministry folks are really happy to have gotten our 10% tithe since we don't have a church to give to right now.

Sorry to have been away for so long! What's going on with the rest of the little family here?

I am just glad that things generally are going ok for you Trevor.
Seems that not many bother to come around lately and haven't
seen Warren for ages? :(

Hope you can find a nice place to live :)
