As promissed to you Ashley, the first 5 episodes (of 6) of Lawrence Hill's and The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's THE BOOK OF NEGROS (Canadian Title) are downloading to my server as I type this. The final part, episode 6 aired this evening, consequently it may be several days before I have its' digital copy downloading.

As they each file become available, I will upload them to my Lock-box sending you the encrypted keys enabling you to access them.

The manuscript was published in Australia, New Zealand and The United States (2007) under the title SOMEONE KNOWS MY NAME; it's original title has only ever been used in Canada where the word negro is not considered to be pejorative when describing black-skinned ethnicity as applied to African Continent descendants.

Aboriginal peoples, or Din'eh as they are collectively called here in Canada, have a special status under our Laws. The word itself is native North American for "The People" and is the only word held in common by each and every native North and South American dialect which is why it was chosen by them to represent who and what they call themselves.

Canada, and indeed all of North America, and especially The United States would not be the same today had it not been for the First Nations Council signing the 1905 Treaty which allowed for the partition and creation of the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon and then Northwest Territories. By signing the Treaty the Council was ceding to the Dominion Of Canada some 3.4 million square miles of land previously known as The Hudson Bay Land Tract, making it possible for our nation to truly traverse from eastern sea to the northern sea to the western sea becoming more or less the land mass known as The Dominion Of Canada today.

In exchange the collected people of Canada guaranteed the Din'eh from that day forth freedom from and relief of all taxation in perpetuity, access to good and sufficient "free" health-care and education and finally freedom from all let and hindrance of any territorial boundary Worldwide. This latter provision required the fledgling Dominion Of Canada to go before the International Court in The Hague, The Netherlands, to have the Treaty ratified and adjudicated by that international body. Once having done so, the Din'eh have been entitled from that day forth to cross any internal or international boundary with nothing more than their Din'eh Status Card, and cannot be stopped or held for any reason in their travels provided they have broken no Criminal Laws other than perhaps local trespass. Through our providing this capability to the Din'eh in Canada, we inadvertently (through equality provisions within our own Laws) codified the same priviledge for all aboriginal peoples wishing to enter or exit Canada. In granting "free" healthcare, Medicare largely as we Canadians know it today was born; but, it would be some 60-years before it was widely rolled-out and adopted by Canadians other than the Din'eh. The same is held true for Canadian access at large to good and sufficient "free" education.

Good.

Spreading a few rays of sunshine and happiness is what it is all truly about; and not too many things do it quite as well as the OLD Looney Tunes.

Just a virus or maybe series of them lasting weeks and interfering with sleep. Our primary data center move is finally complete - that has taken several months to accomplish. About 15 7' tall racks of servers, storage, and network gear, and some of the virtual hosts have dozens of VM's running on them. Our IT dept "officially" supports something like 300 applications (we have a database to keep track of them!) and have offices in 20+ cities. We move from downtown Seattle to south Seattle with under 24 hours of total "worst case" downtime. Some things like email and internet were only down for a couple hours total. Of course the routine upgrades and system failures don't take a break just because we're trying to move them. :-) So . . lots of consecutive 60-70 hour weeks there for a couple months, so that may just possibly have affected health a bit.

Sorry folks! winter weather with all it cold front has not been helpful at all. lost power a couple of time the day the snow storm hit, then 10 inches of snow did not help, and don't get me started on the cold. i think they said it the coldest Feb. in history or close to it, not good for arthritis either. set in the bone and just stay there, could not get out of the house for 10 and a half days, had to shovel my own sidewalk, but it took 4 days to get it done, with the cold air i could only shovel 3 to 4 big scoop at a time. not only because of arthritis, but the cold air was not good for my breathing as well. enough to wear out the body any day or time
be glad to get as close back to normal soon, if there is such a thing as i get older that is. hang in there. i'm gonna try to

Hey Pat... good to see you. Take it easy if you can, or at least try to. You couldn't get out of the house for 10-days; is that because of your arthritis or because of some other physical limitation. I can picture shovelling the snow... you have my sympathies trust me. My breathing is not all there and your speed would be just about mine, although the temperature of the air doesn't seem to be a factor to me.

Your presence is ALWAYS welcome Pat and I do so like to see you here as well but,
the MOST important thing is for you to be safe and in good health.

I do hope that the winter weather is over soon for you and that the power stays on. :)
