There are many stories in the wizarding world. Probably the biggest is that of Harry James Potter, the boy who lived and conquered the dark lord.

However, Harry's story was not the only central one happening. Whilst he and his friends were struggling year after year, other students experienced their own problems and triumphs. Each student is unique, they all have their past, present and future.

It's time to take a turn in the magical world that wasn't in the original books.

David Barron has revealed to the Herald Sun that a new scene has been added in the upcoming Half-Blood Prince film in order to remind moviegoers that nowhere is safe. Having JK Rowling's approval of the scene, Barron is confident that people will like it:

But this was brought in because Jo (Rowling) was able throughout the quite lengthy book to keep dropping little snippets of what was happening in the outside world - there'd be people reading newspapers and talking about how somebody's parents had been killed, or somebody had been withdrawn from school because their parents didn't think it was safe.

And we're making aware that the Muggle world is also experiencing these disasters, but thinks they are disasters rather than the work of Voldemort.

The book is peppered with those moments, but we couldn't do that quite so easily in the film.

So (the extra scene) comes in the middle of the film and it just reminds us the world is no longer a safe place. Even in what would normally be considered the safe haven of the Burrow, nobody's safe.

You can see a full scan of the article over at SnitchSeeker's website. Thanks to SnitchSeeker and everyone who e-mailed with the tip!

Interesting. Personally I would rather have it as close to the book as possible, though things need to be changed.
It could also work in Deathly Hallows since the Trio are no longer at school.

Anyway by the sounds of it, certainly sounds as if they are pulling out the stops to set the dark scene towards the end, and also sets up Deathly Hallows.

This is very intriguing... I wonder what it could possibly be. *Strokes beard*

Apparently there will be more than one extra scene. I've heard that they will insert quite a few 'actiony' scenes in order to display the rise of the Death Eaters more forcefully throughout the film! This is a decision that exictes me, cinematically it could work beautifully and would really hammer the point home that these are dark times!

Agreed. However they only have a certain amount of screen time. Sure, they can add these extras but that comes at a price of sacrificing scenes from the book!

They have done it before. On the most part I've enjoyed some of the changes they have done. On the other hand the films may have been better with memorable scenes from the books.
