Hello everybody! -- or, at least, everyone who is looking at the forum.... Okay, so there was some discussion of the anthology being genre specific, i.e. should be limited to sci-fi and fantasy fiction (short stories, novel excerpts) and poems only. If we did decide to do this, we would probably be fairly relaxed as far as what qualifies. "Sci-fi" could include pretty much anything futuristic, stories involving advanced technology, dystopian, even steampunk, versus being ONLY "hard-core" sci-fi. Similarly, "fantasy" would just need some sort of magical/fantastical element. In other words, a story would just need to have an element of something out-of-the-ordinary to qualify. This could broaden the anthology to include stories like suspense and (maybe) horror, just as long as they could loosely be called sci-fi or fantasy. Anyhow, just an idea. Tell me what you think! -- If you dare to venture into the ghost town that is theredberet.com.

Okay, I'm one of about two who dares wander these ghostly streets. Good call. I'm also not aware of whatever anthology you're writing for, so I have no idea what they're looking for. I like your definitions though. Sidenote: HEDGEHOG!! So cute! |

Hey Mercury, The anthology is for Katherine's "Into the World" publishing class at the Attic this quarter. We the students basically become our own small publishing company and are assigned to various departments/editor positions, e.i. the Art Department or Chief Novel Excerpt Editor, and we put together an anthology of our work.Sigh... yeah, it's pretty sad how quiet this place is. I think you're the "ghost" who haunts this place the most. And yes, I love hedgehogs. |

I are teh ghost of forum haunting! OoooOOOOOOooooooooOOOOO!! Bwahahaha! DARN THE SILENCE, WHAT FUN IS HAUNTING IF THERE'S NOONE TO HAUNT!? Hmm...I need someone to haunt if I want a point in the haunting, but if there's someone else here then I won't be "haunting" so much...Well, on the other hand, if we have people SILENTLY POKING THEIR NOSES IN AND THEN LEAVING, then I guess I'll be able to haunt THEM just fine!! At least this forum isn't as bad as the other TW forum, the one for super veteran folks...DEAD. And they ban-hammered me! Yes, they did so because of a controversial (plot forwarding) thing I did in a group story, but I won't get into that... |

I saw the "meet the veterans" page and was curious... who counts as a veteran? Just if you've been writing/taking Katherine's classes a long time, or do you have to be doing TW itself for a couple of years or more? For example, I've been writing "seriously" for about six years and taking Katherine's classes for five, but only done TW EPIC once (and hope to go again, I might add). What is "ban hammering"? |

I have no idea what constitutes a "Veteran"--I think it's several TW events under your belt, but ask Aaron. It could also be "you came and it seemed like you had been there forever because you fit in so well." I don't know. But the "meet the veterans" page here isn't the forum I was referring to. It's...hard to explain. Secret society and stuff. ANYHOW, ban-hammering is when a forum admin decides someone's being inappropriate or whatever, and the admin bans the offender. I don't know where the hammer part comes in, but it's basically "You are bad forum poster! No cookie! No posting either." So now I can't post anything to that forum. Can't start a new topic, can't reply, can't grumble at the rest of them for complaining about what I did with the story, because it interfered with their plans, nevermind that their plans interfered with mine...not only that, but they have posted absolutely ZILCH of their "plans". Sorry, I really shouldn't grumble about them behind their back (or rather, right in front of them if they bother reading this forum...) |

Wow, we are so off topic.... Okay, now I know what "ban-hammering" is. One more bit of random web lingo to add to my meager list. Heh, I was looking back at some older stuff several days ago, and it looks like this place USED to be more populated. I think I've solved the mystery as to why this forum is so empty, though-- it's the dreaded FACEBOOK!!!! We've been abandoned for the cooler, larger, more awesome

Aha! You have hit the nail on the head (fortunately not with a ban-hammer). Yes, Facebook has sucked away members of our forum. I have missed mini events because they were planned EXCLUSIVELY on Facebook. RARG. It's NOT cooler, just more popular, and we wouldn't have lost people to it if we made USE of our better alternative! There are several buttons underlying our forum "community" and happenings therein; you keep pushing them and thus initiating my rant factor. Sidenote: there's some funky internet rule about the relationship between the number of forum posts and the exponential deviation from the original topic. I believe we have proven it. |

Oi! I still come on here! I stagger around a bit, bumping into random topics, but I still poke my nose in. And I agree with the Facebook thing...that and people just...don't get on. It's weird. Oh well...if I had more stories I would post them, but I don't. Mercury appears to be the only one who can consistently churn out literature.

Oh my goodness! Another person! We're NOT alone! Huzzah! (runs around waving arms and laughing hysterically)Hello Emily/The Drunken Knight! Do you care to join our undead ranks and lurk the empty streets and halls of theredberet.com? Yeah... Facebook has really been getting on my nerves lately. I'm not allowed to have a Facebook page, and yet, that's the way virtually all my friends communicate, and the worst part is-- NONE OF THEM CHECK THEIR EMAILS ANYMORE, EITHER! One of my long-time friends (I called her my "literary advisor" because she would help me brainstorm ideas when I'd get writer's block) used to be really prompt at answering emails-- like, within the hour as long as she was at home and not in the middle of schoolwork. And THEN she joined Facebook, and I'm lucky to get a response within the WEEK-- if ever. Sigh....

God facebook sucks...I joined so I could enter a sweepstakes and then they told me I have to be 18. Sigh. I wish I could turn into one of my more tech-savvy characters and cause a major overload in their servers, thus causing me to win all sweepstakes at once...

Maddie--Feh, heck with sweepstakes, just crash FB. I suppose you could win the sweepstakes and THEN upload Boot-and-Nuke to their servers... (B&N, in case you're wondering, is software that tells the hard drive to randomize all data when booted, completely destroying the original function and capability of the drive.) Kayleen: If you need an idea brainstorming partner, I'd love to chat! Email or IM me at yrucrem91@gmail.com or saturncrash@hotmail.com, your preference. I check both emails multiple times a day if home, and if I'm home, I'll pretty much be on IM. (If other folks want to join my "brain trust" of chattage, feel free.) Emily: Hiyo, fellow stumbler! Don't know why I'm the literary fountain, but I am, and I'll take that as a compliment. |

Yay, we have another person! Hi, Maddie! Mercury: thank you for the brainstorming-help offer. I'll keep that in mind. These days, though, I'm reasonably good at coming up with ideas on my own, and considering how massive my project is (nine novels! Yikes! ) it would take me ages to outline the whole series so you could understand whatever random plot point I needed help with, although I guess I could attempt it or just attach my plot outlines to the email.

Ugh... back and I just now noticed this. What gives? Anyway, if anyone doesn't know who I am, shame on you! It's Samuel, the one that accidentally suggested it to be either sci-fi or fantasy (either that or it was Katherine that did it, but I'm pretty sure I accidentally did so). |

Hi Samuel! Actually, I think I might have suggested it.... But something you said may have made me think of it. |
