Yes, I remember waking up in to the morning news about this. It truly is the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in United States history. My condolences go out to all the victims of this horrible attack. |

What really sickens me is the gun control debate that it sparked. People, if you're going to get political, at the very least, wait for a week or so! On another board I'm a member of, we had a member in the exact building the guy killed the most in. I think a collective sigh of relief was released when he posted today. |

I read about it in the newspaper this morning. What kind of irks me is how the gunowners' association (or whatever the name is, 'twas translated in the paper) is pressing for more relaxed firearm laws, so that apparently students could also carry guns to protect themselves from such incidents. Utter BS, if you ask me. |

Because law-abiding students with firearms would not, of course, make the situation any safer or more controlled. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_S...of_Law_shooting First of all, by more relaxed laws you should specify that they're pushing for people with concealed weapons permits to be allowed to carry concealed weapons to school. Maybe there are some people who are exploiting the situation to further their own cause, and that's unfortunate and people like that are the scum of the earth, sure. But the argument is still a valid one and it makes sense. People would be less apt to commit these mass murders and school shootings if they knew that one of their potential victims could be in possession of a weapon. Even for the ones who would do it anyways, students or faculty with firearms could stop the situation from escalating to 30+ dead and more injured. But, enough of politics. Situations like this are awful and my condolences go out to anyone involved in this. |

Gun-carrying bank tellers could stop bank robbers, because they could be scared away. A psycopath shooting random people just to kill could not. Yes, he could be shot down before he kills too many people, but that's just a reason to post more security guards; not give everyone guns. Still, RaceFan is right...a tragedy should not be viewed as an opportunity to get political. I'm sorry. |

Yeah, I'm listening to the video he sent out during the middle of it. Blows my mind that a guy could kill, walk to the post office send the video off, then go back and kill again. |

I've seen this on a couple of other boards. It is a really terrible incident. What worries me is where were the campus guards or whatever they are called? Also vampiredude I'm not going to that thread first of all it looks like you don't care about the people killed and injured in the shooting and because you PMed me. |

I'm thinking they too ran in fear for their life. If I'm not mistaken there was a teacher who blocked the killer while his students escaped. He was killed, but many consider him a hero. |

After you get old enough, you come to the gradual realization that there a certian percentage of Stupid A__H___s (SAHs) in the world. There always have been, and there always will be. The funny thing is no matter how you split up the population, you still wind up with a percentage of SAHs. It cuts across all races, religions, ethnic backgrounds, professions, etc. The problem is that SAHs generally have access to the same things the rest do (including guns). There are few things more dangerous than a SAH with a gun (or a SAH with van-load of ammonium-nitrate, etc.) The question is how do we eliminate the threat SAHs pose to the rest of us? When it comes down to it, I don't think you can (not 100% anyway). You see, SAHs existed before guns were invented, and they will still be around even after guns cease to be used by anyone. Having to deal with the misery that SAHs cause, seems to be part of life. My condolences to all the victims of the SAH in Virginia. I hope that the next SAH that comes along doesn't hurt you. |

I know what you mean Dumble but 8 hours after the shooting Jack Thompson(The guy with the problem with video games) went on Fox before the shooter was even identified as a "school shooting expert"(sounds a tad suss to me) and started blaming it on video games. And bringing up false facts. I haven't actually seen the video since I'm in Aus and am on dial-up I've just read about it.
