Here check this out. It seems that on May 15 people are calling for a one day boycott of gas. Here check out the link and see for yourself. And here is a link for debunking it as well. Do what you think. I'll more than likely end up doing it by accident. Boycott Debunk |

If I don't buy gas on the 15th, I will just buy it on the 14th or the 16th. A one day boycott isn't going to do anything. Sadly. |

Gas is a necesity. the ammount of time it takes to boycott it sufficiently to cause it to realise it's error would result in overcrowding of public transit. |

Pfft that is why you live in a place like here it is very rarely crowded. I keep forgetting American's call petrol gas and measure it in a gallon instead of a litre. |
| No, just no. | |

I've been boycotting gas for the last 15 years. I don't drive. (Yes, I'm old enough to get a learning permit if I want one, but for personal reasons I'm gonna wait at least a year to do so.)

I didn't read whatever the link was but, I always laugh when these scams come up. Unless you actually stop using the gasoline, it makes no difference when you actually buy it. On the other hand, if you started riding a bicycle to work, or took public transportation, you could actually make a very tiny change in the over-all gas consumption. I don't drive any more than I have to, and that's the best I can do. |

I ride a bike, unless the weather sucks, in which case I walk or take the bus. I don't have a car nor a license to drive one. |

He, wish I lived some where with decent public transportation. I live so far back in the boonies that public transportation is pointless. |

"Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time." --Steven Wright Seriously though, if someplace is within a hour's bike ride and the weather's not too bad, I take my bike. But don't put any conservation efforts on your own part down as trivial--if everyone tried to make small changes in their oil consumption, it would make a huge difference in the long run. As for the boycott, it probably won't hurt the oil companies financially, but it will get the message across that consumers are upset. So, go ahead and make that statement!

Actually, I agree with DD on this point. Oil companies won't care if you boycott it for a day, because you're still gonna buy it some other time. And with most major companies, the only way to get a point across is by hitting them financially. As long as they can still sell to people, they won't care if you think it's environmentally unsound. The world's not upset enough to get off of oil for long; eventually, it might happen, but for the moment we're still consuming oil at a large rate. Also, on the topic related to oil consumption, I personally don't believe that we're causing global warming (well, not much of it anyways). What the mainstream media doesn't tell you is that Mars is also warming at a very similar rate as the Earth, and there has been a larger than normal amount of solar flares in the past few years. Unless the Martians are also putting large amounts of greenhouse gases into their atmosphere, I doubt that what we're doing affects the Earth's temperatures much. |

Except that walking from North America to Europe is impossible.
I'm sorry but that's more of a joke than a political statement. The oil companies won't care. If you want to make a real statement, do what this guy did... ![]() Yeah, that screams discontentment. |
