Hey, I used to work in a 5-star restaurant. You wouldn't believe the kind of crap we would charge 50 bucks for. |

Oh, I would. There's a "fancy" restaurant very close to my house. It's insanely expensive, all the customers are rich morons, the service is HORRIBLE, the place is always loud and the menu is filled with CRAP. I mean, who the hell wants melon or avokado with their meat? Even the stuff that appears to be decent comes out crappy. I ate a pizza with beef carpaccio and pistacchios on it, and it was simply a pizza with beef carpaccio and pistacchios ON it. They were completely free from the pizza, just floating around. |

ROLMAO You don't go to a "fancy" restaurant to eat a good meal at a good price. You go to a "fancy" restaurant to be able to say you ate at an "fancy" restaurant (and possibly be seen eating there). In a similar vein you don't buy a $75,000 automobile to go to work and get groceries every week. You buy a $75,000 automobile to be seen driving a $75,000 automobile. And to drive the point home, you don't spend $2,650.00 on a Prada handbag because you need something to carry around your breath-mints and lipstick. You buy a Prada handbag to show it off to anyone who will look. Most people (at least in the US) buy *oink* just to impress other people and to try to increase their own sense of self-worth. I don't want to shock any out there, but I'd wager everyone here is guilty of that to some degree or another (I bought a used sports car when I graduated and moved out of the house - I didn't need it, but I wanted it). |

Frankly, I feel that way even when I wear jeans. I'll be much more comfortable with sweatpants, they have bigger pockets and they're healthier than tight jeans for a man. But I wear sweatpants maybe once a month and jeans 3-5 times a week. |

Prada??? *perk* You are right Dumble... I don't have a Prada clutch because I can't afford it...but I would if I could. Sad but true. You are also right about going to an upscale restaurant...it is for show more than anything else. The food should be at least good though.... There is the whole "what I want vs. what I need" debate. I would love a jaguar...but I really only need my ford fusion. (plus I can't afford one, although that doesn't stop some americans). Now, as a girl, sweatpants, are a big, fat no no. Some things, like fashion, I just can't bring myself to go the "what I need" route. ;-)

I guess there aren't enough sensible people around. When I encounter soMeone doing soMething generally bad for theM because that's the fashion or whatever, I get the iMpression of theM being kinda stupid. (Yeah, that's right, I guess I have the iMpression that Most people are kinda stupid.) |

I agree with MMMM. ![]() I don't own a single pair of jeans; I personally hate them. Too stiff for me. I wear what others call 'wind pants'. |

What's your problem with blue jeans? I personally don't wear anything but jeans. It's not because of a brand, it's just I don't feel right if I'm not wearing them. (guess that's because I've worn them all my life) Although I do agree about the buying something just because of a brand name and only because of a name. Especially since that name being on the clothing raises the price exponentially. |

Like I said, I just personally don't like them. Not entirely sure why that earns Grash's respect, but oh well. |
