Skills and Limitations

This will be used to list the skills and limitations you can pick at the start of the game as well as some that you may acquire later on. Naturally there will not be a list of every skill in the game (as, after all, those are determined randomly), but each time I add a skill to the game, I'll try to add it to the list as well.

Naturally, you can't pick a skill and/or limitation that would cancel out any other skill/limitation you have. (For instance, you can't be "Blind" if you have "Night Vision," since then you can't see at all. However, you can have "Night Vision" and "Bad Eyesight" also, since you see as well at night as in daylight--you just can't see all that well in the first place ;) ) If you have a question about whether two skills / limitations / etc. are compatible, you can ask in the Questions / Announcements / FAQ thread.

Starting Skills
--Persuasive: When you talk to people, you're really good at making them see your point of view.

--Leadership: People are more likely to follow you if you tell them to go somewhere.

--Good with Gadgets: You can take any electronic device and figure out how it works even if you've never seen it before.

--Ability to throw fruits at high velocities: This can come in handy...

--Fast: You are a very fast runner. You can get to places faster than other people can.

--Omnifluent: You can speak and understand any language, even ones you've never heard before.

--Very Flexible: Your limbs bend further than most people's. You can squeeze through narrow spaces that most people would have trouble getting into, and you can slip out of ropes, between cages in bars, etc.

--Very Healthy: Your immune system is amazingly well developed. You have a high resistance to illnesses and diseases, including poisons.

--Hard to Deceive: You can tell when a person's lying. You just can. Somehow you know that they aren't being truthful...

--Stealthy: You can quickly and silently get into places without attracting much attention.

--Scavenger: You are better at finding hidden items than most.

--Accurate: When attacking with a ranged weapon, you're more likely to hit your target than most.

--Strong: You have an unusual amount of physical strength.

--Excellent Hearing: You can hear sounds that most people can't, such as the difference between leaves rustling in the wind and being brushed by that person who's trying to sneak up on you...

--Magically Inclined: You can learn magical abilities more quickly and use them to better effect than most.

--Knowledge of Obscure Trivia: You've devoted your life to seeking for and memorizing totally obscure and generally useless factoids and other such nonsense. Occasionally, however, it might come in handy...

--Lucky: Only two of the numbers for your Luck roll need to match your lucky number in order to get a lucky effect! ^_^

Inherent-Only Skills (only available to those who start with them, except in special cases)
--Night Vision: You can see as well in the dark as you can in daylight.

--Telekinetic: You can move small objects with your mind. You may be able to move even larger ones as you develop your abilities.

--Empathic: You can communicate telepathically with other people who share the ability to do so.

--Good Sense of Smell: Your sense of smell is so well developed as to allow you to identify and locate things by scent.

--Self-healing: Your organs and tissues regenerate over time, so long as the damage isn't too critical.

--Two Forms: You have the ability to transform into a second form (such as, say, a bat) for a short period of time.

--Armored: You have a layer of nearly-impenetrable armor that shields you against physical attacks (and possibly falling from great heights). Only a tremendous blow can penetrate your armor.

--Chameleonlike: Your body naturally adjusts itself to blend in with its surroundings, giving you a natural camouflage.

--Resistant to <x>: You are resistant to damage from a particular type of attack or other harmful effects of that nature. (Physical attacks don't count; that's "Armored.")

--Liquidy: You are a living liquid; you can slip through any crack and around any obstacle that hasn't been sealed.

--Noncorporeal: You have no physical body. You can't pick up objects (unless you're also Telekinetic), but you can also slip through walls and aren't harmed at all by physical attacks.

--Can Fly: You have wings or something else that gives you a natural ability to fly.

--Modular: You can easily add onto or replace parts of your body with other components.

Starting Limitations
--Bad Eyesight: Distant objects appear kinda blurry when you look at them...

--Can't Read: Other people say that those funny black squiggles mean something, but you couldn't figure them out if your life depended on it.

--Technologically Inept: All those buttons, knobs, and flashing lights seem to confuse you.

--Weak: The opposite of strong. Large objects that most can lift with a little difficulty require a great deal of effort on your part, if you can lift them at all.

--Slow: For some reason or another, you can't run as fast as most people. It takes you longer to get to places, and if you're in a large group, you're the one holding everyone back.

--Gullible: You're easily taken in by anyone with a nice smile and a friendly voice.

--Colorblind: "Push the red button!" "WHICH ONE'S THE RED BUTTON?!?"

--Hard of Hearing: People often have to repeat themselves in order for you to hear them.

--Ham-fisted: When in hand-to-hand combat (i.e. no weapons), your blows are uncoordinated and hard to direct.

--Weak Constitution: You get sick easily. Also, the effects of poisoning are worse for you than for others.

--Clumsy: You have a tendency to knock things over, bump into people, trip over your own two feet, etc.

--Blind: You can't see at all. You have to rely on your other senses or a guide to get around.

--Deaf: You can't hear at all. People have to use hand signals, writing, or other methods to communicate with you. If you're Empathic you can still "hear" other Empaths in your mind, but you can't hear when someone tries to speak with you.

--Not Persuasive: For some reason, people seem less inclined to listen to you when you are trying to convince them of something.

--Crazy: You often see or hear things that aren't there. This often affects your actions.

--Delusional: You suffer from some sort of delusion (such as "I am Napoleon reincarnated," or "All purple things are alive") that colors your behavior. (You'll have to announce the delusion if you pick this trait.)

--Magically Inept: The opposite of Magically Inclined--it is very difficult for you to use magic, and when you try you're usually more of a danger to friend than foe.

--Uncontrollable Abilities: If you have any magic or psionic abilities, they may fire at random. When / how this happens is usually determined by your Luck rolls.

--Unlucky: The opposite of Lucky; if any two of the numbers in your Luck roll match your unlucky number, something bad happens! >_<

Inherent-Only Limitations
--Needs <x> To Live: You need a steady supply of something in order to survive. The longer you go without it, the weaker you get. If you don't get it within a certain timespan, you die.

--Bulky: Your body takes up a rather large amount of space. It can be very difficult to get around, and most rooms, elevators, doorframes, vehicles, etc. aren't designed with you in mind. Life can be very uncomfortable sometimes.

--Susceptible to <x>: You are particularly weak to one type of attack or other condition (such as light). Others can take advantage of this.

--Cold-Blooded: You're most active in warmer temperatures. If it gets colder outside, you start to get more and more sluggish. Once it reaches a certain point, you go into hibernation until it warms up again.

--Can Rust: If you're exposed to water or a damp climate for a long time, certain parts of you may begin to corrode, limiting your actions until it is fixed. Too much rust may immobilize you completely or cause you to fall apart.

--Can't Smell: You can't smell anything at all. In some cases this can be an advantage ( :p ), but in situations that require you to identify that something is amiss by smell (a gas leak, for instance), you're at a severe loss.

--Foul Odor: You have a characteristic scent that gives away your presence and typically repels people.

--Heavy: Climbing up ladders and ropes (among other things) requires great physical exertion, and you're more liable to fall through a weak spot on a floor than someone else. Also, it takes two or more people to carry you, unless one of them is Strong.
