"Well, we've had no trouble activating the device, but every time we try to do something with it, a blue screen pops up, then it shuts itself down..."

"Have you ran a full systems scan?, If not i suggest you initiate one promptly."

(Lucky roll! ^_^ )

"Initializing systems scan," the scientist-bot says as he sadjusts a few dials on a complex-looking machine.

You wait for a few seconds...

"VIRUS DETECTED," the machine blurts out.

Then, "VIRUS ELIMINATED."

"So that is why it wouldn't let you do anything it was infected.......let me try operating it now, it should work."
"Roses, Daisies, Tulips, and even Lilacs can be deadly to those who suffer from floral allergies. So beautiful to look at and smell but a weapon none the less, whether it be the thorns of the rose or the toxic pollen of a petunia; Flower power is just as mighty as any sword!"

You activate the device.

You hear the crackle and hum of electricity flowing. The object itself is now glowing with energy, and the glow gets brighter and brighter.

Suddenly one of the monitoring devices starts beeping. One of the scientists examines it.

"We're starting to lose control! We have to stabilize the power output now, or who knows what will happen?"

Several of the scientists immediately begins working knobs and buttons at their workstations. Anyone who isn't critical to the operation runs for cover, just in case it becomes a "worst-case scenario."

I impulsively grab the device in hopes of draining off it's excess energy.

As soon as you touch the artifact, it seems to meld into your metallic body. A surge of energy courses through your circuits. It screws up all of your sensors--a piercing shriek echoes in your sound receptors, and your optic, infrared, ultraviolet, etc. sensors are blossom with multicolored patterns. As the wave rolls over you, everything goes silent and dark for a moment...

...But only for a moment. A quick diagnostics report confirms that no damage has been done, despite an energy surge that should have killed you by all appearances. All of your colleagues are now staring at you.

The artifact is nowhere to be seen.

I start frantically looking for it.

"So did we!" one of the scientists says.

"I think it just vanished..." a second one adds.

"Why are you glowing?" a third one chimes in.

"Could it have.........transferred itself inside of me?" I wonder aloud. I begin to notice myself glowing as well.

(Unlucky roll! >_< )

"It's possible," one of the scientists says, "although it's certainly never--"

He is interrupted by a very loud groan from the ceiling.

"Everyone evacuate!" someone shouts. "The roof is collapsing!" Evidently, your little struggle w/ the object somehow managed to weaken the supports...

Your feelings are correct--you don't quite make it out. You reflexively brace yourself to take the crushing weight of the falling roof...

And nothing hits you. Almost as if sensing your intentions, the debris parts around you, falling to one side. However, you aren't aware of doing anything consciously...

You find that you can move perfectly well, and can even climb over the rubble where it isn't too steep.

"That's all well and good," a muffled voice says from under part of the rubble, "but do you think you could maybe help the rest of us get out of here?"

"Of course, i'm not sure if it will work though. But i'll try." I reply, i then try to tap into my newfound abilities to try to move the debris off of my comrades.
