So, does anyone here like American hip hop (mostly boring) or British hip hop (mostly lovely!)? Or are you anime types all into classical music or something?

And why is this thread so dead? Is music (*gasp!*) unimportant to you people?

I don't mind the occasional classical music every once-in-a-while, it just has to fit the mood.

Not much of a hip-hop fan myself. Not really into any specific genre of music, but I know what I like, and I know what I don't particularly care for--sort of like Bob.

Particular favorites, however, include THE BEATLES, Simon and Garfunkel, the Monkees, Electric Light Orchestra, and a few one-hit-wonders whose names escape me at the moment.

Hip-hop annoys me...as do rap and country and pop...I'm pretty picky about music, but the songs that I listen to vary in genre from techno to rock to traditional folk to Broadway musicals. And game soundtracks of course. But only a select few.

Fine, fine, none of you people like my stuff...is sad.

So I'll talk about rock. Green Day rules, Nickelback is pretty cool, and Rage Against the Machine is fething brilliant...I really like People of the Sun.

And...um...what else...Hinder is okay, I guess. Talking Heads are cool, so is the Clash, some other old stuff I can't remember...

EDIT: Ooo, someone likes techno! MIA is kinda techno...you should check out XR2 Turbo!

Hip-hop you say? I'm not sure what the difference is between hip-hop and rap so I will allow my brain to exchange the words hip-hop and rap.
I like rap, I like some of the old stuff. If its the new stuff you are talking about then no.
My favorite artist is Eazy-E. I like NWA. I enjoy very much Grandmasta Flash and the Furious Five. I prefer mostly the old clean 80s-90s rap. When it was all up beat. So I guess early Will Smith.

Ice Jedi: Clean, upbeat rap? Sure, but...NWA?! 'F*** tha Police' is good, clean fun, huh? They were great, sure, but I don't know about being upbeat...well, I don't really listen to much early stuff (some Tupac is good, especially 'Keep Ya Head Up') but at least you sorta listen to rap...

Chukchi Husky: Yeah, I like the bass that most Rubbish songs have. And their vocals are just dreamy... ;)

All right, now that I think about it, there is one rap song that I do like--the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song :p

At any rate, to elaborate further, my tastes cover a fairly broad spectrum: '60s-'80s classic rock, '50s-'60s rock 'n roll, early soft rock, the "British Invasion" sound, some early ('60s-ish) bubblegum pop, psychedelic rock, some progressive rock (mainly ELO and late Beatles), blues, soul, doo-wop, folk rock, country, and bluegrass. I also enjoy (but don't listen to, on a regular basis) swing, jazz, disco, big band, electronic, techno, J-pop, reggae (mostly Bob Marley), mariachi, flamenco, and various kinds of foreign folk (particularly Russian and Irish). Oh, and bagpipe music :D

In short, as I said before, I know what I like, and what I don't particularly care for.

And what the hell is J-pop? And how do you have time to listen to all that feth, Spec?

Well, you might like baile funk...it's this weird Brazilian thing, and it would fit all your other weird tastes...

I like old U2. You know, Joshua Tree. I can't stand today's rock, I find there sound to be all the same.
As for NWA, they brought the harsh realities of the ghetto into the eyes of america.

???

If you're apologizing for not, like, contributing or whatever, then you might as well tell us what you listen to.

And if you're apologizing for not buying me diamonds, it's my fault for not giving you my address already...

1. A good deal of it overlaps, so it's not as much as you think it is.

2. "J-pop" is a generic term for pretty much any music made in Japan that uses a non-traditional format (i.e. "Westernized" music; it has its roots in jazz).

3. I might check it out some time.

I'm gonna be insensitive and stereotypical when I say that it sounds like you listen to bad 70's music...

Which is way, way better then bad 80's music. ;)

Wait, Tool, Muse, and Radiohead aren't from the 70's (I think)...whoops...

And what the feth is Queensr˙che?
