Since this RPG will be very different from the other RPGs on this board (well, on certain areas at least), here is a list of frequently asked questions (or rather, those questions I expect will be frequently asked ).Q: What will this RPG be about? A: In this RPG your task is to assemble the Astral Artifact and figure out it's purpose. Q: What is the Astral Artifact? A: The Astral Artifact is a mighty crystal made from 7 stones scattered around the game world. The stones are the Airstone, Earthstone, Firestone, Manastone, Shadowstone, Waterstone and the Wildstone. Q: Will this RPG end when one player has finished it? A: No, you can keep playing for second and third spots an so on. A ranking list will be created once the first player finishes. Q: What classes are there? A: As many as there are players. Each player will decide for him/herself what class he/she wants to be. These can be standard RPG classes like Warrior, Archer or Mage, or they can be something entirely new, like Space Alien or Refrigerator Salesman/woman. In addition you can decide other traits of your character, like your gender. Based upon your class and trait choices the GM will decide advantages or disadvantages for your character. See also the next question. Q: How do I sign up? A: You sign up by sending the GM a PM with your class and selected traits. The GM will then decide on weaknesses or advantages for your character. These are up for discussion until you've started playing. Until you've started playing you can change your class and traits freely. Q: Will the be separate play threads for each player? A: Yes. Q: Can I reroll a new class if I don't like the one I chose at the start? A: Yes, you can reroll freely until you've made your first move in the RPG. After you've made a move the only way to reroll is to start again from scratch, so choose wisely. Q: What traits are there in this RPG? A: Just like with classes, these are entirely up to the players themselves. One trait that is a must though is the gender of your character. Q: Why is my character's gender so important? A: Your character's gender is as important as you choose to make it. Playing the gender game can have huge benefits, but just as huge setbacks depending on how it's played, so be careful if you choose to venture down that road. Q: Can I make a vastly overpowered character by choosing my traits right? A: Short answer: No. Long answer: Yes, depending on your playstyle. The GM will make sure that with huge advantages there will also be huge disadvantages in other areas (logical ones of course). But by playing your character right you should be able to bypass your disadvantages, but that's up to the skill (and especially brains) of the player. Q: Am I allowed look into the game threads of other players? A: Yes. Actually you are encouraged to do so. You won't be able to discern the location of the stones from them though, as they will be placed differently for each player. Q: Are players allowed to work together? A: Yes, but both players have to notify the GM before the game that they wish to do this. Stones will be placed in the same locations for cooperating players. Cooperating players also share the same game thread. Q: Wow, this sounds like a really difficult RPG. Is that how it's supposed to be? A: No, the GM will make sure everybody will be playing at a difficulty level they can cope with. Just remember that the game won't progress on its own, if you think there's nothing going on it means you aren't looking hard enough, there will be lots of things to uncover and mysteries to be solved. Q: Will I get to kill stuff? A: Yes, sooner or later you might have to kill someone. You can of course go around and kill random people, but it'll bring you big trouble if you kill the wrong people. Q: Can I kill governors and kings? A: Yes, you can kill any NPC you want. Whether it is a good idea depends on the situation though. You can even start wars if you play the game right. But again, whether it is a good idea depends on the situation. And yes, wars will affect ALL players, not just the one who caused them. Q: Why is it so hard to find weapons and equipment? A: It isn't hard, you're just not looking in the right places. Try the local blacksmith or market for example. Edited by Fremskritt, Jun 30 2008, 01:26 PM.
