Chapter 1 Spoiler: click to toggle Watching her through tinted lenses, he admired her from afar. Currently, she was gesturing wildly to emphasize whatever point she was attempting to make to the flame haired Wakka. Who, sitting astride an anxious Chocobo, looked as if he were about to fall off. Moving back to the Black Mage, he scanned her figure with an assessing eye. From the intricately woven belts of her skirt, to the fur trimmed corset barely restraining her milky white bosom. Her lips were painted a deep plum, her crimson eyes sharp with intelligence, and her silky midnight black hair held up in a bun. She had, however, allowed three long rope like braids escape down her back. She was a magnificent image standing in contrast to the wheat hues of the Calm Lands. Shifting his penetrating gaze from the object of his desire, he glanced over at the young Summoner he was protecting. Yuna, sitting in the shade of a lone tree, was glowing with happiness. Her light laughter carried easily on the breeze. She never noticed his attention focused on her, for her loving gaze never left that of the cerulean eyed young visitor from another place. He was happy Yuna had this chance, for they were almost to Zanarkand and the end of the pilgrimage. Moving his watchful look to the other two members of the journey, he saw Yuna's young Al-Bhed cousin, Rikku, attempting to make the large Ronso, Kimahri, laugh. He admired her efforts, though fruitless. Something caught his attention, whether it was the scream from Wakka, the shriek of the Chocobo, or the elemental shift in the atmosphere, he wasn't sure. But he knew something had caused Lulu to cast her deadly Flare. It was not the aftermath of the magical attack that worried him. Rather, it was the satisfied smirk on Lulu's full violet lips. ^-^v Lulu straightened her back side, regaining her perfect posture. She wasn't at fault that Wakka didn't heed her warnings. "Ah, come on, Lu'..." he would say, but despite his pleas, she remained on solid ground, headache steadily growing to the point where Wakka was the target. Several ineffectual attempts to threaten him to get him off, she had no choice but to show him just what a nuisance he was becoming. Now she smirked, along with most of the other on lookers, as Wakka ran around, pants now matching his hair. Rikku, Yuna and Tidus were all rolling on the grassy field, holding their pained stomachs while laughter bubbled out of them. Kimahri stood, his serious expression still plastered on his face. It wasn't easy to get him to show any other emotion. There was only one other person to get him to attempt to smile. That thought in mind, she glanced at the said person. iNow that I think about it...,/i she thought, ihe looks nothing like Chappu, though their personalities are the same./i As cold-hearted as this sounded, Chappu was dead, so she really shouldn't worry about how much anyone might relate to him. Tidus, tears still in his eyes from his hard laughter, got the courage to speak to Lulu first. "Okay, Lulu, I think he learned his lesson." He attempted to get up, but failed. He tried again, and was more successful. Waking over, he straightened his clothes. That was the oddest thing about him. Those clothes must be so... uncomfortable. How they were able to stand those things, she would never know. He put a hand on her shoulder. "I think you should stop." He patted her shoulder before going over to Yuna. Like the machinations of the Devil, her smirk grew as she lifted her arms, her Moogle falling to the ground to copy her movements. With a small amount of her energy, she sent Wakka to the ground with her all-powerful Waterga, dousing his flames and engulfing him momentarily in water. When the water dispersed, Wakka was seen, face flat on the ground, his entire body soaked. Everyone turned to Lulu, features curious. She gave them an innocent look. "What? He learned his lesson." Rikku sat up, looking at Tidus. "What lesson is that?" Tidus only smiled, knowing very well to watch his hide at what he was about to say. "That no one pisses off a Black Mage Bitch." Lulu did a mock curtsey at him before they all continued to the center of the Calm Lands, intending to rest. As the group ahead began to jabber excitedly about this and that, she let her legs slow in pace, to match that of Auron. He had been so quiet... She looked at him, his tinted glasses hiding his beautiful eyes from her, his stride calm and even... His breaths, however, seemed a bit ragged. Shifting her Moogle in her other arm, she put her hand on his shoulder. "Are you well?" ~*~ Auron did his best to appear unaffected by her warm touch. He was grateful that she couldn't see his eyes, for they would give away everything. "We should rest. The battle with Seymour affected us all." He could see the disappointment in her eyes when he didn't answer her question. Subconsciously, he pushed his dark glasses up on his nose with his thumb. Not that they had fallen. They walked in silence for a while, allowing the others to move ahead. "Waterga was amusing, but what did Wakka do to deserve Flare? You could have severely injured, if not killed him." He would not get her answer now however, for they were under attack. Three fiends stood before them. A Fire Flan, a Nebiros, and a Shred. Wakka joined them with his dangerous Switch Hitter. "Let me at 'em." Auron, however, had other plans. "Let Lady Yuna handle this one." Wakka muttered something unprintable under his breath, earning a scathing glare from Lulu as he left the battle and allowed Yuna to take his place. Doing her best impression of the stoic Auron, Yuna greeted them with, "I don't foresee any difficulty." Lulu groaned, rolling her crimson eyes at the girl who was a little sister to her. Just finish it." Auron ordered as he and Lulu stepped back, giving Yuna room to summon. Five large chunks of ice crashed to the ground before the aeon, Shiva, floated down between them. Flinging her head back, and her arms out to the side, the queen of ice flung her cloak to Yuna. "Hold this for me deary." Yuna, startled by Shiva's sultry voice, held the cloak as requested. "Be strong!," she returned before stepping back to give the aeon room. Three devastatingly cold attacks later, the battle was over. Yuna and her guardians were stronger than ever. Once again, Auron turned to Lulu, quirking an eyebrow above his glasses as he awaited her response to the question he posed before the battle. ~*~ Lulu stopped, the rhythm of her stride broken. Letting the others go ahead of them, she turned to face Auron. "You know very well I would never kill Wakka. The very thought of his brother is enough for me to love him like the brother he never got to be for me." She crossed her arms. "But don't think that just because we're like relatives, is an enough reason for me not to punish him when he's being overly annoying. He knows when he's pushing it, but he doesn't stop, anyway." She turned away from him, intending to follow the others. "Besides," she said, walking a little more slowly, "Wakka is a big boy. He's strong enough to withstand any spell I throw at him... except for Death." The center of the Calm Lands grew nearer, and so did the chance to rest. Chocobos occasionally strode past them and Lulu had to all but glare at Wakka for even thinking of the idea. He walked in mock sadness as he was denied the chance to ride. After all, who would want to face another moment with a pissed off "Black Mage Bitch", as Tidus called her. He was sure Yuna was in no mood to use one of her life spells to revive him. Yuna, giggling, pulled Lulu aside to talk to her privately. "What is it, young summoner?" Yuna gave her a bright smile. "The others and I have been talking..." Lulu nodded. "And... there's something on all of our minds. They voted for me to ask you." Again, Lulu nodded. "Then tell me, what is it you want to know?" Hesitating, Yuna pulled her further away from the group so to make sure they were alone. Glancing around, she finally spilled. "Do you and Auron like each other?" ~*~ "Yuna!" Lulu admonished. "Where would you get such an idea?" She hoped that the heat in her cheeks went unnoticed. "Well, Wakka was grumbling that you liked Sir Auron better than him, and Tidus mentioned that you often stay behind with Sir Auron instead of walking with the rest of us. An-and then, well, Kimahri mentioned that you might have feelings for Sir Auron. He said, as a Ronso, he can smell certain...pheromones?" This time Lulu was positive the redness in her cheeks could be seen across the vast plateau of the Calm Lands. "Yuna." She was going to end this conversation. Then, she was going to give the frigid Kimahri a little heat. iPheromones./i "I do not have feelings for Sir Auron. He is a trusted friend and a fellow guardian. And though I trust him with my life, I do not however, trust him or any other, with my heart. Do you understand?" She was losing her patience with Yuna, which was the last thing she wanted to do. "I understand. I will go join the others." Yuna hurried off to re-join the waiting party ahead. Meanwhile, Lulu stalked over to a certain Warrior Monk resting against the hilt of the large sword he carried. The energy around the Black Mage fairly crackled with her anger and embarrassment. "You wouldn't believe the audacity of those people." Again, Auron raised an eyebrow above his dark spectacles. "Are they correct in their assumptions?" his voice barely audible. brbr Lulu gasped, her eyes wide as she whipped her head up to meet his gaze. The heat once again reached her cheeks. Back at the main group, Yuna exclaimed, "She likes him!" Chapter 2 Spoiler: click to toggle "Urusai!" She commanded, leave no room for debate. She was in no mood to speak of her love life. While Yuna and the rest may think she and Auron would make a cute couple, she thought otherwise, thinking she would rather just die and marry Chappu in death, no offense to Auron. She had to admit to herself that Auron was one of her favorite types, dark, strong and handsome, but...
She mentally shook her head to clear it. No. She won't think of him that way. He is a trusted friend and guardian, nothing more. Tidus and Wakka went up to get the rooms, and Lulu stayed quiet, listening to the others' conversation. Tidus smiled at Yuna. "Hey, do ya wanna... I don't know." He was obviously nervous and kind of hesitant as he spoke. "Maybe... look at the stars with me tonight?" Lulu blinked. And he actually got the courage to ask her for a date in front of everyone... A smile touched her lips. Those two... But as soon as it had appeared, the smile fell into a worried frown as Yuna accepted the offer. But what would happen if they should fail Spira, and Sin defeats them? Yuna, Tidus, Rikku... everyone will be gone. Kimari, Wakka... Auron... She didn't have anymore time to bite down on that thought as Wakka came back with the room arrangements. "All right, now. Da rooms only have two beds so we'll be split into parties of two." He looked at the list. "Me an' Tidus will be in one room, while Rikku and Yuna share the other, ya?" They all nodded at this. "Kimari has asked for his own room, for some reason, so..." Her turned to Auron and Lulu. "That means you two are sharin' the last room." Lulu's eyes widened in shock, her cheeks threatening to turn a few shades towards the color of her blood. This was not happening... Moment of pause for authoress to evily cackle Auron just nodded his approval before taking the key that was dangling from his fingers. The others recieved their respective keys, and separated off into pairs and going to their rooms. Swallowing the nervous lump that had made itself comfortable unknowingly in her throat, she followed Auron, at a much slower pace than the others, to where she would have to spend the night of nervous glances and unsure looks and, most of all, the heat that not only rose in her cheeks, but other places as well. Following everyone up the stairs, she did her best to control her body, but it wouldn't listen to her. Damn those pheromones, she thought as she kept walking. Their room was the nearest, so it didn't take long for everyone to say good night. Now here she was, in a room-bedroom. Spending the night... with Auron. Trapped, no way out of it unless to arouse suspicions. She just stood there in the doorway as Auron made his way to one of the beds, farthest from the door. His voice was rich and dark and he made a comment. "I get the bed by the window!" |
