60 Minutes is an American television news magazine, which was created in 1968. The program was created by Don Hewitt who set it apart by using a unique style of reporter-centered investigation. In 2002, 60 Minutes was ranked No. 6 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.

60 Minutes consists of three long-form news stories, without superimposed graphics. There is a commercial break between two stories. The stories are introduced from a set with a backdrop resembling pages from a magazine story on the same topic. The show undertakes its own investigations and follows up on investigations instigated by national newspapers and other sources.

Season 43, Episode 9
Story 1: President Derek Baldacci invited Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), House Minority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Senate Majority Leader Georgy Zhukov (R-NH), and Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI) for a conference at the White House to discuss an extension of the Bush tax cuts, which are set to expire at the end of the month. 60 Minutes provides in-depth coverage of this conference, along with the tax cuts in general, interviewing both Terrus and Zhukov.
Story 2: Senator Leila Williams (I-WV) and Senator Stephen Kudlow (R-AZ) argued for a significant reduction in the size of NASA, as well as the scope of its mission. 60 Minutes provided in-depth coverage of the debate, interviewing Williams and Senator Jacob Gustafson (D-MT), the leading defender of NASA.
Story 3: The Republican Party underwent a massive leadership turnover during November. 60 Minutes provided information about the new Republican leaders: Senate Majority Leader Georgy Zhukov, Senate President Pro Tempore Stanley Harland, and Republican National Committee Chairman Christopher Reed.

Story 1/2: Senator Jacob Gustafson (D-MT) proposed a number of amendments to the Department of Health and Human Services budget today, many of which focused on expanding access to care for the uninsured. 60 Minutes discussed the amendments in length, interviewing Senator Gustafson, and interviewing Senator Stephen Kudlow (R-AZ).
Story 3: Point Counter-Point, between Senate Majority Leader Georgy Zhukov (R-NH) and Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI), on the Bush tax cuts.

Story 1: Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI) suffered a stroke this week, nearly collapsing during a town hall meeting. Doctors expected Terrus to make a full recovery but, with a tough medical road ahead, the 30-year veteran of the Senate decided to retire 60 Minutes did an expose on his career in the Senate.
Story 2: The Senate debated the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009 this week, and 60 Minutes provided in-depth coverage of the bill, and the debate surrounding it. 60 Minutes interviewed Senate Majority Leader Georgy Zhukov (R-NH) and Senator Theodore Kauffman (D-MD) regarding the bill.
Story 3: Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI) proposed an amendment to the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009 this week, which would require Marriage License Reciprocity. 60 Minutes provided in-depth coverage of the proposed amendment, and the debate surrounding it. 60 Minutes interviewed Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI) and Senate President Pro Tempore Stanley Harland (R-CO) regarding the proposal; the interview with Terrus preceded his stroke.
