The Colbert Report is a satirical television program, which lampoons personality-driven editorial news programs by providing a comedic look at politics and the media. Produced daily by Comedy Central from 2005 to 2010, the Colbert Report is now offered weekly by USBC.

Stephen Colbert hosts the Colbert Report (the T in report is silent). Colbert kicks off each episode with a rundown of recent news stories. Colbert then defines The Wørd, delivering a talking-points style monologue on current events, using a single word. Colbert next performs one of a number of recurring segments, such as: Better Know a District; Cheating Death with Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, DFA; the Sport Report, the ThreatDdown, Thought for Food, Alpha Dog of the Week, and the Colbert Report Special Report. Colbert then proceeds to his next segment, "Tip of the Hat/Wag of the Finger," in which he condones and condemns the recent actions of varying politicians. Finally, Colbert interviews a guest.

Host
Stephen Colbert, 48 (5/5/3/3) is the host and executive producer of The Colbert Report. Colbert appears as a fictional version of himself, who is a caricature of news pundits such as Stone Phillips, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Geraldo Rivera, whose shows focus on "bluster and personality." Colbert's character, a "well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot", is right-wing, egomaniacal, fact-averse ("factose intolerant"), God-fearing, and hyper-patriotic. He claims to be an independent who is often mistaken for a Republican, but uniformly despises liberals and generally agrees with the actions and decisions of George W. Bush and the Republican Party. This is evidenced by one of the questions that he asks of many of his guests: "George W. Bush: great President, or the greatest President?"

Rundown: Colbert discussed a number of breaking news stories. He condemned those nations that attended the international conference on climate change, stating that the meeting "represents the newest offensive in the War on Christianity," since it focuses on science. He applauded the Republican Party for elevating Stanley Harding to the Chairmanship, however, noting that "this nation needs a man that is committed to taking action on the economy -- what's that? He doesn't support...well, what I meant to say was, uh, a man committed to taking action to ensure we don't take any action at all."
The Wørd: Colbert declared the word of the day to be "Space," and used the word to discuss the fight over NASA funding at length. Colbert stated his absolute support for disbanding NASA, stating that "its time that we privatized the entire defense industry. We all know that corporations are far more efficient and competent than government; we should be delegating to them the most important functions of our government."
Alpha Dog of the Week: Colbert congratulated Senator Andrew McCoy (R-LA), who faced a Senate inquiry this week after he secretly met with North Korean officials several weeks ago. Colbert declared McCoy a "true hero," for reaching out to North Korea, stating that "with the Baldacci administration failing to provide leadership for this nation, its time that others stepped up and started making decisions in his place."
Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger: Colbert tipped his hat to Senator Stephen Kudlow (R-AZ) for supporting the elimination of most labor laws, which Colbert said "prevent the abuse of employees by corporations, which is a longstanding tradition in the economic world." Colbert wagged his finger at President Derek Baldacci for not getting a budget passed in time, stating that "you shouldn't have just submitted the budget on time -- you should've submitted it early, so Congress could do its job, by not doing its job."
Guest: President Derek Baldacci visited The Colbert Report to discuss his efforts to reach a compromise with Congressional Republicans to extend the Bush tax cuts. Baldacci expressed hope that "we can find a middle-ground, where we are not sacrificing this nation's fiscal future so the rich can enjoy themselves more, but where we are also not raising taxes on the middle-class in these tough times."

Rundown: Colbert discussed a number of breaking news stories from around the nation.
The Wørd: Colbert declares the word to be "unrelated," and used that word to discuss Senator Jacob Gustafson's (D-MT) proposed amendments to the Health and Human Services budget. "Sure, these amendments will increase insurance access, and quality of care in some cases," Colbert said, "but they've simply nothing to do with funding, and let's be honest, appropriations bills never have any other provisions attached."
Better Know a District: Colbert interviewed former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) about her district in California.
Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger: Colbert tipped his hat at Senator Georgy Zhukov (R-NH) for agreeing to negotiate with the White House regarding the Bush tax cuts, but wagged his finger at President Derek Baldacci for "making it clear you're willing to compromise your core beliefs just to appear bipartisan."
Guest: Colbert interviewed Patrick Dempsey about the new season of Grey's Anatomy, episode 2 of which ran just after The Colbert Report.

Rundown: Colbert discussed a number of breaking news stories from around the nation.
The Wørd: Colbert declared the word to be "full," in reference to the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution. Pivoting from that, Colbert spoke (sarcastically) in favor of gun weapons reciprocity, saying "the Constitution clearly protects states' rights -- and there's no better way to uphold one state's rights than by forcing it to use the laws of another."
Better Know a District: Colbert interviewed Congressman John Dingell (D-MI).
Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger: Colbert tipped his hat towards Senate Majority Leader Georgy Zhukov (R-NH), who moved to rapidly pass a half dozen of the President's budget proposals today, calling his actions "truly exemplary of a bipartisan leader." Colbert wagged his finger at Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI), who seconded Zhukov's motions, declaring "how typical it is for a Democrat to try to pass the President's proposals without any debate."
Guest: Colbert interviewed Andrea Mitchell, host of USBC News, about USBC's news policies, which were based largely off of those of PBS. Colbert and Mitchell discussed the news media, in general, and also specifically discussed Colbert's program.

Headlines: Colbert discussed through a number of local and national headlines.
The Wørd: Colbert declared the word to be "survivor", and used the term to discuss Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI), who resigned this week after suffering a severe stroke. Colbert satirically criticized Terrus throughout the segment.
Segment: "Better Know a Budget." Colbert discussed the President's Defense budget proposal with some specificity in this new segment.
Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger: Colbert tipped his hat at Senate Republicans for "focusing on the issues that really matter in the midst of an economic depression -- like North Korea and gun control." Colbert wagged his finger at the Trans-Atlantic Broadcasting Company, declaring it a "true tragedy for this nation that Bill O'Reilly will be leaving the air."
Interview: Colbert interviewed Senate Minority Leader Matthew Terrus (D-MI) regarding his proposed amendment to the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009.
