S1, E9 Private Security Westings objects to Mackey's hiring private security, protesting that "those guys will flood this city with blood." Mackey challenges Westings in turn, declaring that "if you find my information before they do, then I'll send them right back to Baghdad." Westings throws himself into the investigation, using a combination of illegal and legal sources to find information about the burglars. He beats several Young Boys, Inc. gang members, as part of his search, and directly threatens Prince. Westings keeps Bernhardt from discovering his illicit activities, but she quickly puts together that he's investigating something off the books. The young officer demands to know what, but Westings refuses to tell her. The mercenaries set out at the same time as Westings and, within hours, have already traded fire with several Young Boys gang members. Westings finds himself preventing Prince, et al, from ambushing the mercenaries, even as he stops the mercenaries from ambushing prince. Recognizing something is very wrong, Bernhardt tells Marrow and Fleming everything she knows. The two Detectives set out to find the burglars while Westings tries to keep Prince's and Mackey's subordinates from causing serious bloodshed. Thanks to help from an increasingly concerned Dockman, Marrow and Fleming are able to track down the perpetrators of the B&E, and then to arrest them. The detectives recover Mackey's portable hard drive, and send it to be de-encrypted. Mackey fires the mercenaries once he learns the police captured the burglars, and Westings is able to focus on retrieving the hard drive as a result. The Sergeant breaks into the police technology unit, replacing the hard drive with one containing only legitimate business information from Mackey's corporation. The tech lab discovers evidence of the break-in, however, and Dockman launches an investigation that puts Westings in danger. Worse yet, Westings makes a copy of the hard drive before returning it to Mackey, and discovers on the hard-drive that Mackey is importing stolen military-grade weaponry. To add to it all, Bernhardt confronts Mackey in the last minute of the season finale, revealing she knows he stole the hard drive, and demanding an explanation. Guest Star(s): Christopher Walken, 69 (5/5/5/4/5) as James Mackey |
