Main Cast
Chris Pine, 31 (0/2/2/0/4) as Captain James T. Kirk, Commanding Officer of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. The youngest captain in the fleet, Kirk won command of the Enterprise by saving Earth from Nero, the Romulan time traveller that destroyed Vulcan. A brilliant officer, Kirk is loved by his crew, though Starfleet views him as somewhat insubordinate, impulsive, and childish.

Zachary Quinto, 35 (2/2/3/2/2) as Commander Spock, PhD, Executive Officer and Chief Science Officer of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. Spock is amongst the few thousand surviving Vulcans, but he commits his efforts to Starfleet instead of Vulcan civilization because he believes Starfleet to hold the key to the future of the Vulcan people. Spock is highly intelligent, and his commitment to logic is only surpassed by his commitment to the Enterprise, but his suppression of emotions sometimes puts him at a deficit in decision-making, and at odds with McCoy.

Simon Pegg, 42 (3/3/2/2/2) as Lieutenant Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, PhD, Chief Engineer of the United Space Ship Enterprise. Though amongst the best engineers in the fleet, Scotty constantly finds himself in trouble because of his impulsiveness, though that trait did win him reassignment to the Enterprise. "Scotty," is the ship's Second Officer.

Karl Urban, 40 (2/2/3/3/3) as Lieutenant Commander Leonard "Bones" McCoy, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. McCoy enrolled in Starfleet right out of medical school, but quickly became frustrated with its practices, and transferred to the reserves before he was thirty. Ten years later, McCoy's wife divorced him, taking everything but his "bones," and so he returned to active service. McCoy is an incredible physician, though emotional decision-making often puts him at odds with Spock.

John Cho, 39 (3/2/2/2/2) as Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu, Chief Helmsman of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. Sulu is best known for his possession and infrequent use of a Japanese-style Saber, but he is also a highly capable pilot.

Zoe Saldana, 34 (4/3/4/2/4) as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, Chief Communications Officer of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. Uhura is amongst the best linguists in Starfleet, possessing the unusual capacity of differentiating between the Vulcan and Romulan language, but she also a generally brilliant Starfleet officer. Uhura respects Kirk greatly, but she is often highly skeptical of his impulsiveness. Spock and Uhura were in a relationship while she was at the academy but, while the two remain close, Starfleet regulations prohibit further dating.

Anton Yelchin, 23 (2/2/2/2/2) as Ensign Pavel Chekov, Chief Navigator and Chief Weapons Officer of the United Space Ship (USS) Enterprise. Chekov is a child prodigy, who graduated from the academy at age 17, four or five years before most others. Though technically of too junior rank to be a department head, Kirk ensured Chekov's assignment as such due to his incredible intelligence.

Last Resort (Season Premiere)
The crew of the Enterprise defeated Nera in the Star Trek film but not before he destroyed Vulcan, severely weakening the Federation. The Romulan Empire took advantage of that weakness to invade. The Federation is losing the war, slowly but surely, when the season finale kicks off.

Starfleet orders the Enterprise to leave the front lines, so as to transport a diplomatic envoy to Qo'nos, to request Klingon assistance. A Romulan fleet ambushes the Enterprise en route to Qo'nos, however, capturing the ship after a vicious battle. The entire crew is captured except for Scotty, McCoy, "Cupcake," and the envoy, who escape into hiding in the bowels of the ship.

Kirk, Spock, and Dehner are taken to the Romulan flagship for questioning. The three escape, however, then sabotage the ship severely. Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura lead an uprising on the Enterprise, meanwhile, retaking the ship just in time to save Scotty, McCoy, "Cupcake," and the envoy from death. A recaptured Enterprise rescues Kirk, Spock, and Dehner, who destroy the Romulan fleet thanks to Spock, who stole the shield information of the Romulan ships from the Romulan flagship.

A group of Klingon Warbirds appears just as the battle ends, however, leaving the Enterprise clearly outmatched. The commander demands the Enterprise accompany the Klingon fleet back to the nearest Klingon base.

Guest Star(s):
Tyler Perry, 43 (4/3/2/2/5) as Admiral Richard Barnett
Jamil Walker Smith, 30 (2/2/2/3/2) as Klingon Captain

Challenges
The Enterprise arrives at a Klingon outpost, where the Klingons threaten war for endangering Klingon neutrality. Kirk avoids war, and death for his crew, by challenging the commander to a duel. Kirk wins the duel but avoids killing the commander by stating that "allies fight together, not each other." The impressed Klingon commander agrees to allow Kirk a meeting with a higher ranking officer.

While Klingon fights the duel, Spock and McCoy battle a deadly virus on the Enterprise, referencing Star Trek: Enterprise. Scotty, Sulu, and "Cupcake," are simultaneously forced to take on a Romulan prisoner uprising. McCoy develops a cure to the plague with Spock's help, just in time to prevent several deaths, and Scotty successfully ends the uprising by threatening to transfer the prisoners to Klingon custody.

Kirk meets with a Klingon Brigadier at the end of the episode, who demands that Kirk capture a "Federation pirate," before any talks commence. Kirk agrees.

Guest Star(s):

"Bounty Hunter"
The Enterprise sets off after Arne Darvin, an alleged "pirate," operating in the no-man's-land between Federation, Klingon, and Romulan space. There is no law in no-man's-land and the Enterprise attracts significant attention amongst the many criminals there. The Federation flagship soon happens across a smuggler base, occupied by some of the worst types in the known universe.

The occupants of the smuggler base scramble to battle stations and order the outmatched Enterprise to "leave here or die." Kirk orders the ship away but returns later in a disguised shuttle with Spock, McCoy, and "Cupcake." The four pretend to be a merciless crew of mercenaries and are quickly accepted by the locals.

The "away team" searches high and low for Darvin. The four face violence repeatedly during the search, simply due to the nature of the place, but they finally locate then capture Darvin after a vicious firefight. The four rush back to the shuttle, heading back towards the Enterprise with a fleet of pirates in hot pursuit.

Kirk returns to the Enterprise just ahead of the pirates. The Enterprise then jumps to warp, leaving the smaller pirate ships in its dust. the episode ends with Darvin proclaiming his innocence, however, and providing evidence proving he is not a pirate.

Guest Star(s):
Will Wheaton, 38 (4/3/3/1/3) as Arne Darvin

Tribbles
The Enterprise returns to the nearest Federation Base with Darvin as Kirk desires to investigate further before turning over Darvin. The Klingon Brigadier arrives with a fleet in tow and demands that Kirk turn over Darvin. Kirk stalls to buy time but knows the Base, which is crewed by only a few people because of the war, cannot defeat this fleet, even with the Enterprise's help.

Scotty realizes during the episode that the Klingons are suffering severe technical malfunctions. Kirk talks to Darvin, who admits he deals in critters called "tribbles," and that the Klingons hate these lovable creatures. Kirk talks to the Klingons, who admit that their ships are infested with tribbles, which are causing severe problems. Scotty develops a way to target the tribbles with the transporter and the Klingons agree to pardon Darvin if Scotty "gets these damned creatures off our ship."

Scotty beams the tribbles off the Klingon ship and onto the starbase. The grateful Klingon Brigadier offers to escort the Enterprise to Qo'nos, where "our government would be honored to hear any proposal from the Federation." The Enterprise cannot leave yet, though, as the Starbase is now suffering severe technical difficulties as the tribbles eat the equipment.

McCoy finds a way to stop the tribbles from reproducing, and to reduce their appetite, and successfully addresses the problem. Kirk orders Darvin to clean the starbase of all of the tribbles, a task Spock estimates will take approximately ten years, and threatens to arrest Darvin if he refuses. Darving agrees and the Enterprise sets off towards Qo'nos.

Guest Star(s):
Will Wheaton, 38 (4/3/3/1/3) as Arne Darvin
Victor Garber, 63 (0/3/3/0/2) as the Klingon Brigadier
Paul McGillion, 43 (2/2/2/2/3) as the Starbase Commander

Insurrection
The Enterprise arrives on Qo'nos just as a civil war breaks out. Kirk, Uhura, McCoy, "Cupcake," and the diplomat find themselves trapped with the Klingon Chancellor, whose headquarters is besieged by rebel forces. The Starfleet personnel agree to help defend the Chancellor, mostly because the attackers clearly intend to kill everyone in the headquarters.

Spock, Scotty, and the Enterprise must join with the Brigadier to fight rebel forces in space, meanwhile, leading to a massive battle. The Enterprise is nearly destroyed during this engagement, though the Brigadier's sacrifice saves the ship. The Enterprise ultimately wins the space battle for the Klingon loyalists, destroying the rebel fleet.

Kirk, Uhura, McCoy, and "Cupcake," are still trapped on Qo'nos, however, and the headquarters is slowly falling to rebel forces as the episode ends.

Guest Star(s):
Richard Dean Anderson, 62 (4/4/4/1/2) as Klingon Chancellor

Espionage (Season Finale)
Kirk, Uhura, McCoy, "Cupcake," the Federation Diplomat, and the Klingon Chancellor are captured at the episode outset. The Klingon rebellion starts a show trial, alleging that the Federation bought out the Chancellor.

Spock, Scotty, and the Enterprise crew find evidence that the Romulans are sponsoring the rebellion, though, and set off to prove that fact. Scotty locates a cloaked Romulan ship on the planet and Spock, Sulu, and Chekov beam down to attack the vessel. The three Federation crewmembers successfully destroy the ship's cloaking device, revealing its presence, right in the middle of rebel territory.

News spreads quickly that the Romulans sponsored the Klingon rebellion. The show trial is interrupted as a number of Klingon citizens, angry about the espionage, break in then murder the rebel leaders. The Chancellor declares that he is in command again and declares war on the Romulan Empire in response to its meddling in Klingon affairs.

Kirk and the Enterprise crew celebrate the success of their mission. With the Klingons as allies, the Federation actually stands a chance against the Romulan Empire, the Federation envoy notes. But then, the Klingons deliver terrible news: Earth has been attacked by the Romulans and they seem to be winning the battle.

Guest Star(s):
Richard Dean Anderson, 62 (4/4/4/1/2) as Klingon Chancellor
