So much has happened, I can barely remember it all. What I do remember is thinking I should suggest to the crown that Cormyr just put up a big wall around the swamp and seal it in. I hate swamps.

The last thing I recall is facing a terrifying undead dragon turtle. Scalding steam breath and a wicked bite nearly killed all of us. I vividly recall Sebastian leaping atop the thing and stabbiing it before it reared back and bit him, and he fell lifelessly to the muddy bog. I thought he was done for, and us as well, but by the Balls of Torm, he pulled through. One tough customer, that Sebastian. Eventually we destroy the thing. We entered this crumbly monestary, fought some gargoyle things, and faced a terrible opponent: a Gloom golem. Crimson Fate was the only blade capable of harming it, so my commrades aided me, distracting it and fouling its defenses to give me a clear attack. Its maddening screeching grew and grew until I could barely tell what was going on. But finally it fell. <shivers>. The priestess of Shar and her minions were almost a welcome sight after that. Though they still were quite deadly. She had Three Hell Hounds, who had powerful bites. I finally got my rhythm back, casting true strike, getting a good wind up on the back swing, and dealt a few mighty blows. Happily, Ike took her down, preventing her from using her terrible death touch we all know clerics possess. What of the black rift they spoke of? Of course we will have to go through it. The things I will do for good, right, and Cormyr.... I've got a bad feeling about this....

As we healed up and rested, a Howler ambushed us and bit Lindrom to death. It happened just that quick. Curse my slow reaction time!!! The very next second, Crimson Fate dealt a fatal blow, and Lindrom's spirit had only a fleeting moment to desire vengeance before receiving it. Luckily, Ike had a scroll of Raise Dead. Helm forgive me, but praise the magic of Mystra. By her grace Lindrom lives again. By the Balls of Torm, that librarian attracks trouble!

Well, we crossed into the black, vast rift on bridges. We avoided a terrible, bloody, morningstar-armed golem, only to have Lindrom fall immediately into a giant pile of bones and rouse terrible skeletons. We persevered, and eventually came to a cave, where a Gorgon made its lair. I immediately succumbed to its power and was turned to stone. A very painless peaceful way to go, and one I highly reccomend to anyone. I also recommend having friends that find scrolls of Break Enchantment, as I do. Being petrified is much more enjoyable if you live to tell about it. Apparently, while I was a statue (and a very good looking statue, I might add) they fought and killed a Blackguard.

Eventually we came to a pit surrounded by a fifty foot cliff. A dark ritual was being performed. In a move don't recommend to anyone, even myself, I leapt off cliff on to one of the evil clerics. I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe I just hate evil clerics and had had enough. The result is I killed the poor woman by falling on her. By the way, it really hurt falling fifty feet onto someone wearing full plate. Don't do it. Pure luck that I didn't miss and break my legs.

One of the clerics died and burst into this crazy shadow thing, and we chased it around for a while, but there were simply too many of us.

Oh yeah, and we fought a black dragon with terrible strange markings on it. WE were hurt bad, but it retreated. Weird. Maybe it was close to death as well. We will meet again, I am sure of it...

Farther into the dark chasm and dark towers and on precarious bridges we went. That dirty Despyr harries us at every turn. The evil cloud of breath is powerful. Several of us nearly succumbed, but Mystra's and Ohgma's power put us back on our feet. Again he fled. Still, if it can bleed, it can die. And so far, the blasted creature has been sticking and moving. Eventually, it will have to stand firm if it wants to finish us off. Then it will find out going to-to-toe with Truesilver is a crappy bet. All I need is a few good swings at it.

We were surprised upon entering a chamber, seventy feet above the floor, by a stinking cloud that sapped our Constitution. At door level there were the tops of pillars, acting as a very dangerous path of stepping stones. Two of us, Sebastian and Alice, I think, fought on the small space next to the awful Mezzoloth. The creature had four arms, was bug-like, and wielded a nasty Trident. Lindrom was yelling stuff like "Hit it in the Squiggly-squooch! The SQUIGGLY-SQUOOCH!!!!" but honestly, sometimes I can't hear a damn word he's saying. Especially, it turns out, when I'm concentrating on doing something really stupid. Like jumping across ten feet of open air at an evil outsider trying to kill you with a trident. Somehow, probably by a whole committee of Gods, I was lucky enough to knock the mezzoloth off his pillar. I swear, I really didn't think I had enough power in my jump to do the job. Perhaps he didn't expect someone to do something that stupid and was caught off guard. Anyway, the tough bastard survived the fall, and came running up the pillar ramp to get some payback, no doubt. All he got was two good looks at the Truesilver ancestral relic, Crimson Fate. A lot closer look than he wanted.

Again we fought those Ephemeral Hangmen. Deceptively dangerous foes. Wily. I'm investing in a few gross of continual light torches when we get back. And also developing Glowburst, something that will even work on the plane of Shadow. Having one's light and fire spells snuffed before they even start is terribly annoying.

Soon, the final reckoning with Despyr. We should kill him for his stupid name alone.

During our rest, we were assaulted by more dark warriors and a terrible Shadow Mastiff, whose gloom resisted even our magical lights. An intense fight. Right at the start, as Braddock is pretending to sleepily wake up, I see, out of the corner of my eye, the feigned clumsy lurch of our rogue disappear suddenly like the blanket covering him, revealing a nocked and ready bow. The arrow flies into the dark, where I see the form of a dark preistess take the shaft in the throat. She runs away, Braddock shoots her off the cliff. And a second later, up her corpse rises---- on the ascending elevator!!

We make it to the lair of Despyr. A despyrate battle ensues. Guess who comes out on top? Yeah, not the big wyrm. Thirteen Mages and Clerics of Mystra we saved. The rest of them, may their souls find peace. During the fight, Despyr's evil breath weapon killed many of them, healing everyone else in the process. Finally, the burning hatred Alice bears Despyr's kind gave her the strength to strike the final blow.

More on our return to the Material Plane...

Strange blights afflicted many crops in the fields we passed on our return journey. Apparently war is coming to Cormyr soon. We were greeted in Wheloon with much fanfare. The cleric of Mystra that set us on this dangerous path was overjoyed at our success, and has promised to reward us with half price magical accouterments. The crown also recognized our contibution to the welfare of Cormyr: 10,000 gold. As a noble, I've seen money, but my companions were ecstatic.

Darker welcome was in store for us in Dawngleam. A full, mad riot raged. In the middle of it all, an ancient Cormyran evil lurked. A traitorous ageless evil, the gasneth haunt Cormyr. We felled it once, but back it came. Only Sebastian seemed able to hurt it. It called out "O'baskyr" when he hit it, but that can't be right. Could it be that Sebastian is actually of royal blood? Well, better he be before me in line to the throne. Not a resposibility I desire. Anyway, Sebastian slew the creature, a feat not easily accomplished. I had been looking forward to a rest, but it appears war calls...

War. The Red Dragon and its well-disciplined goblinoid army put Cormyr to the test. In a noble and selfless act, King Azoun gave his life to slay the foul creature. Cormyr survives, but is now kingless. The royal heir is only an infant, yet the Queen lives, so there is still rulershipover the land. The Steel Princess lives also. Cormyr is not without leadership, though we mourn the loss of our beloved King.

Well, in other more local news, our crew reunited, and set off after Thorik's shield. I convinced everyone to make a stop halfway at the possible site of an ancient giant ruin, a civilization of astronomers, and a possible location of Starmetal.

I had a bad feeling I would run into Horus again. And sure enough, there he was, with a crew of hirelings. We made it up into the observatory, sustained by powerful magics high above the mountains. We had an understanding that everything would be split down the middle. So of course Horus finds a giant tablet made of Starmetal, and teleports away with it. I don't know how they do things where he comes from, but breaking your oath and leaving everyone to die at the hands of an Eldritch Giant is bad. When I catch up with Horus ---and I will--- it will be Crimson Fate doing the talking. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and he betrayed all of us. Death awaits him now.

On the bright side, the Eldritch Giant's armor was infused with Starmetal. Oh yeah, we killed him. Too bad. There was much I would have liked to talk to him about. Secrets about Starmetal his people probably knew. Alas, there was no time for words, only swords.

It took some negotiating, but we agreed with the other adventuring group on a fair split of the profits. They got half of the bag of gems. There was much hemming and hawing, but I think only from the rogues. They hem and haw as a mater of principle. I have the Starmetal scavenged from the Eldritch giant's armor. A fair amount. It will take some work smelting it down. I think after this trip, I will return to the observatory. There may be secrets there regarding starmetal. I'd like to take Lindrom along. His keen mind may observe some clue I might miss.

Finally parting ways with Shamus, Persys, and Slag, we set out on the trail of the Blue Shield of Thorik. All through the Troll mountains we travelled (not a troll in sight, I might add.) Alice's flying carpet was invaluable. The trip would have been imesureably harder without. Eventually, after waterfalls and ravines and a dwarf-sized gazebo carved from one massive pieces of stone, we found a small blue shield token, which acted as a key to a magic door. In we went. After some exploring and some traps, I shouldered past a door and fell down a flight of stairs, and was promptly hacked up by a helmed horror, a terrible construct thing. There was a second one, and it stuck me with a crossbow bolt as I lay bleeding on the stone floor. My commrades quickly followed, however, and we made short work of those terrrible things. But to be totally honest, without the hardening of my flesh from the infusions of Starmetal, I would have been slain. A very sobering thought.

On we trekked, until we found the Shield. Of course, it was trapped. Ah, Braddock... We were all hammered by falling stone as the ceiling struck us. We made it out safely, only to run into... a Fang dragon? I know nothing about this type of dragon, though, of course Lindrom did, as well as Alice who hates dragons. (lets hope not purple dragons or Blue dragons of cormyr, eh?) It was alice who laughed when it asked for whatever we found in the ruins. It was prickly (ecscuse my pun) about the lack of respect, and was only distracted by Sebastians fast talking. He said we found nothing in the ruins, but he could tell the dragon where there was an Eldritch giant and treasure. The dragon grabbed Sebastian, and flew off. A harrowing chase ensued, and Lindrom was able to barter Sebastian's life for the remaining gems, much to the consternation of braddock. Everyone except Alice started for home on foot. She returned by air to retrieve her elven hound.

I can't wait to find out what the Shield can do! We all agreed to chase after some treasure from our map, to better finance the search for the other Shields.

What was it I said, Toast? "'Soul of halfling' my ass. More like soul of a teifling..." She likes her Elven Hound more than us. As weird and xenophobic as those ranger elves can be, they are useful to have around...

On the way back to dawngleam, we decided to take advantage of our secret pirate map. We chartered a boat to take us to the Fang, an island landmark in the dragonmere. From there we easily found the cave entrance, and from there we easily found the guardians of the treasure. Most of us had fallen into the water after some rough rapids, and were climbing back into the boat. I noticed Lindrom was unnaccounted for, and saw a glow beneath the surface. I dove in to aid him. below I discovered him engaging two zombies. Or were they?!!! I found out later they were drowned, horrible undead that drown their prey. I wrestled it underwater for a few rounds to no effect. Well, I couldn't hurt it, but it struck me several painful blows. I managed to heave it into the boat for my companions to deal with, which they did. After that, we found seven chests of treasure!!! Split six ways, not a fortune, but still a great haul. There was also a portrait of the previous Queen of Cormyr, which was unanimously agreed upon to send back to the crown to gain favor.

Calling on the spirits of my ancestors, I made a sacrifice and they transmuted Crimson Fate from steel to Adamantine!!! Incredible!!!

Off to Procamtur, where after one day, assassins of Shar shot Lindrom with crossbows. We dispatched them quickly, then moved on without delay to Raven Rock.

There we discovered the mysterious address. In it, what we assume (possibly incorrectly?) is Math Manniman's assistant let us in. Eventually, I realized I had the run of the place, and started the mysterious formula. I surprised even myself by creating it perfectly the first time. We all drank, and.....

...were all shifted to the Astral plane! Or a little subsection of it. I couldn't really follow Lindrom's and Mardoc's conversation. We ended up at the castle of Mathmaniman. We had to navigate a dungeon to get the shield. Sadly, Sebastian was struck down. We made it through, and earned the shield. As Math's Koi led us out, a horrible Astral Juggernaut came crashing towards us. While searching for the color pool to the material plane, we ran into some githyanki riding red dragons. Our crew tore into them with savage glee, especially Alice. The highlight was Braddock unmounting one rider with his grapple hook. We eventually made it back. Koi gave us a ring. A Ring of Wishes. Lindrom figured out how to use it and brought Sebastion back from the dark beyond.

We looked more closely at the floating tower as a sidetrack on our way home. There is an engine at the top which I am sure has astronomical significance. I tried to tow the tower back to Ches Isle without success.

After a short stay in Dawngleam and the Leaves of Learning, we travelled to Sembia, the homeland of both Braddock and Sebastian. Here, we search for passage into the Pirate Isles, but no Sembian is willing. they are all superstitious. I think we will have to travel to Procamptur.

On a different note, seeing Purple Dragons at the floating tower gave me a great idea. What If I were to start another order of Cormyran military, a smaller elite force? Green Dragons, I could call them... This whole business with Horus has spoiled my taste for competition. What if many Green Star Adepts worked together? They could be a powerful, stabilizing force for the crown. Being ageless could lead to a great wealth of experience.

We eventually made it into the fabled Pirate Isles. Not too impressive so far. We hired an experienced captain, Raider McLaren, of the ship The Osprey. Well, it got painted, and now its The Orphan.
Had to be renamed because our dear captain is a pirate killer, to the tune of sinking capturing or otherwise defeating over 20 vessels. Six in one go in the bay of Red Rock, no less. I like this guy. So our search for the blue shield of Jalor inevitably leads us to the baddest mutherfucker in the sea, Vogrom the mighty. He looks tough, but I bet that leather clad ball-buster that was whispering in his ear is the real threat. And that crazy looking druid, or cleric of the Storm Goddess, I bet they are dangerous. Big Chunky, I bet I could take him down to goblin town, no sweat. Listern to me! A few months on the sea and I'm talking like a common sailor! How disturbing...

So we finally caught up with Weslin (sp?). We had made a deal with Mograv the Mighty to trade the Coral Crown that this Weslin has for the Blue Shield of Jalor. We figured this Weslin is probably another pirate, and we'd have no qualms about bringing back his head as well, for more coin. Turns out he's a paladin. On a mission to destroy the Cult of the Dragon. So naturally we can't just take it from him. We say we should just team up and together destroy Morgov. He says he doesn't trust us, and that we should raid a known base of the Cult of the Dragon to prove our good intentions. Though really, I thought, since he could just peer into our souls and see whether or not they are good, he just wanted our help but was too proud to ask. Fine by me. I am always ready to put evil to the sword.

We get to the base, kill everything, (giant dragon skeleton, bearded devils (nasty)), and capture an evil cleric. he says I'll tell you everything I know, and gives us some useful information. Then he tries to run away. After he tried to kill us? No way. And then he had the nerve to be upset about being disarmed! What we did learn is that the base was a repository for all the loot being collected by their pirate activities, for the purpose of tribute to the sleeping doom after they wake it up. And they left a week ago. Needless to say, Truesilver does not abide.

Somehow we catch up. There is a longship. They fly the Thavian flag, either because they are from Thay, or to try to scare us. We decide that either way, we are taking their boat. These aweful giant vulture things attack us. After being slain, they revived, or un-vived, or started moving again because they are undead. I leave the technical explanation to Lindrom. However it worked, they were mean bastards, and nearly did for Braddock in the crows nest. he had damaged it greatly, and as I fell to the deck after my Swift Fly spell had worn off, I cast a Scorching Ray at it, incinerating it! Hitting the deck hurt, but the satisfaction of destroying that foul creature softened the blow, as did my hardened flesh form Starmetal infusions. What I wouldn't give for more starmetal!

But I didn't have any time to recover. The evil sorceror on the longboat right next to us had come on deck, and conjured a swarm of elemental fire spiders on our ship! And right on top of me, incidently... With no time to think, and on the wings of a Swift Fly spell, I sped towards him across the crashing waters between our ships and dealt him one blow with Crimson Fate. "Scorching Fate!" I cried out as the fiery magic locked within the blade burned him from the inside out. After that, things quieted down quickly. several dozen slaves are in our charge now, We must see them to safety. Perhaps the paladin would be better equipped to deal with them. As for our own forces, they were decimated. I fear our dear captain will hate us after this... The longship full of tens of thousands of gold worth of treasure seems little comfort next to the deaths of so many good men. As Sebastians smartly uses the Lyre of Building to put out the fire, (he finally got it working after trying to play it like a Lute...) Alice spots another ship on the horizon. The evil cleric (who disappeared on Lindroms watch...) had said there were two ships... I wiped the bloody remains of the evil sorceror (who wasn't Thayvian at all) off Crimson Fate, and started organizing our forces.

Like an overbearing host, the Pirate Isles made our escape difficult. As we sailed north, a group of sirines called out to us. Not with their supernatural power, but with their super natural bodies. I went with them. They seemed a thousand times more interested in Sebastian though. And Three-Sheets as well. I believe he has a tale to tell us. Anyway, what use is going to exotic locales if not to experience the culture of the natives? If I am to hold any position of power in the House of Truesilver, I must gain as much experience and knowledge of the world as possible.

Back on our way, trouble in the form of Vogrom's fleet turns us towards the Death Race, a treacherous path of danger through reef and stone. With the skill of three-sheets (the guy really knows how to sail) we make it, but only barely, and after a rival pirate queen engages and slows down Vogrom's fleet. too close. Some wanted to turn and fight, but there were just too many.

Later, we were assaulted by large force of sahaguin. They had a huge shark ramming the keel of our ship, rocking the boat back and forth. they boarded, they threw nets and spears, they fired crossbows. A giant four armed monstrosity of a sahaguin boarded, and pushed lindrom intot he ocean!

After dealing with the sahaguin attacking me, I leapt into the water. I should not have been so worried about Mr. Hawkins. There he was smiling, breathing water as easy as you please, holding his Holy Sword. He incinerated the sahaguin attacking him with a bolt of glory. It left dancing lights clouding my eyes. But I had other things to focus on, like sharks. Lots of sharks. My hardened flesh served me well. Sebastian jumped in as well, and fared better with his rapier and main-gauche than I with Crimson Fate. Only Bonecrusher worked for me. Together, we ended the threat of the sharks. Sahaguin! Foul creatures! By the Balls of Torm, I hate them!

Finally we make it back to Ches Isle and Dawngleam! The town is doing quite well. But our island was dark and silent. And we soon found out why! Agents of Shar had slain all and waited for our return. Shadows and a golem attacked once we stepped inside. These shadows were tough! And the golem! What a powerful creation. Lindrom told us later that it was a shadesteel golem, crafted form steel mined on the plane of shadow. I unleashed a mighty strike against it, both with sword and spell in one attack, as i have been trained by the elves to do. The crackling shock and smoking fiery blast affected it not! Only the keen edge of Crimson Fate hewed it. Few could have endured such a blow, but it endured many. I was nearly spent when it was finally brought down, by Sebastian, I think. A cold welcome for our return. Let us hope things go better now. At least Alice is happy to walk the forest and orchards again.
