Things have been moving along nicely. It appears that there is a solid sense of cohesion within the party. Well done! I think you are playing well. I can definitely distinguish your characters - and I look forward to seeing this unfold. I apologize for the rapid leveling right now, it will balance out here soon.

Once we have a few more victories and successes, we should be thinking about a name for our crew. Too early yet, and characters are still taking shape, but maybe two or three levels from now, once people are into prestige classes... Don't let Saubon stick a Cormyran name on us (not that you Sembians would let him). Its gotta be good, though a better moniker than the Dark Six may be tough to top.

What are our hopes and aspirations for the Isle of Ches? I think trouble will find us, but is there a few projects we want to get going in the background while we adventure? Lindrom already started some stuff with the apple widow. Maybe we should follow his lead.

Well, sense we have found ourselves with a base of operation in a port town. I like the idea of starting a trading company. It would be good for our image to be seen as members of the community who help contribute to the growth of the local economy, and not the new resident trouble makers (adventures). I think a cider distillery is a good place to start. We already have a good contact, Shamus to help us move the cider.

Ches Island Traders. I'd like to put in a lab, so I can make alchemical things and we can sell them. We can also rent out time in the lab while we are on the warpath. We can set up the barracks as an island getaway bed and breakfast. Or the barracks could be the shop/manufacturing area. Does anyone have any craft skills that can produce quality items? Honestly though, we should plan on things being run in our absence. Maybe there is some natural resource on the island that can be harvested? Bird shit for fertilizer for our orchard? What kind of ore is in the mountain on the island? Does our island have any fishing rights? Could we run the barracks as an island tavern, since we have a dock? If you can't tell, I'm excited about the myriad ideas. But still, we should plan on it working without us being there.

The dungeon would be the easy part, because I'm sure there is already 1 here. That we will need to clear out before we can truly claim this island as our own.

Nick, do we have any fishing rights? Obviously, the orchard is ours. But fishing rights would help us even if we are not there. Toast, can Lindrom research shipbuilding? We've got that barracks we could convert into a work area, and a protected port. Then, we could just pay the workers. 5 sp a day. 5 gold a week. ~250 gp a month? I don't know what the building times are, but 3 skilled craftsman would run us about 750 gp a month, plus a bit more for unskilled labor and supplies. We could trade apple brandy for timber in wheloon. I like the idea of having our own ship built for us. A Galleon? for all the treasure we will get? hahaha? no, more likely a sailing ship of some sort.

Im guessing it wont be an issue of fishing "rights", more of the issue of haveing a boat and a crew that know how to fish the area.

Soooo, that's a yes...? Fish scrap and bird shit for fertilizer... Perhaps Alice can track down in a forest somewhere the elusive 'orcweed'... Anyway, Truesilver doesn't worry about the details, like having an experienced boat and crew. He is more of an idea guy, a concept guy. Being the lawful sort, he would find out if we can legally fish the waters before finding fisherman. If there are bats in the dungeon, then we have another great fertilizer, guano. Yessss! So, what kind of ship are we building? Sailing ship for 10,000? Nick, would it be less than full market value if we are employing the guys who make it? hmmm. Probably not. I imagine the building materials are a large percentage of the price. If we have room on the island, we can eventually (with the help of Lindrom's access to druid spells like plant growth) be a profitable exporter of exotic hardwoods. And make masterwork ships with exotic materials! Nick, do you know if there are rules for making Masterwork ships? I'll take a look. I wonder if the Craft rules will carry over. 1/2 or 1 mph boost? more hp/higher hardness of hull sections? less crew required to man? bonus to checks for handling? That last one seems like a good choice. I'm thinking if we have a ship made, we should get the best. After all, as a Truesilver, I like to travel in style!

there are probably rules in stormwrack. I think we should look into darkwood, at least for the hull. +10 gp per pound, but the hull isn't the entire weight of the boat. The darkwood will be half as heavy and way stronger. Another option, depending on the level of the spell, is ironwood. Toast, this means you. was it 4th or 5th? A dorkwwod hull would be awesome.

I don't think we could cut down on a ships cost unless we were actually building it with our own hands since I'm pretty sure a ship of any size would be made to order.

What the hell. Screw those stupid shields. Lets turn this whole campaign into a d20 fishing game. Deadliest Catch: The Rollplaying Game.

Don't get the wrong idea: Truesilver is unlikely to do any actual fishing himself. But we should have our own sailing vessel.

On the other hand, there is enough aquatic monster options that we could could easily go 'fishing' for sea monsters. And with all the x's on the map, I'm sure we will do just that.
