Premise: Confronted with the relentless advance of Azurr Kul's horde, the characters must undertake vital missions to influence the outcome of the war. Can they shatter the armies of the enemy, or will Azarr Kul's dreams rain destruction upon the human lands? PCs: Were going to start at 5th level. Im planning on returning to an XP system for this one, just to balance the level advancement. This mini campaign will advance the party to about 10-12th at its conclusion. Core races, but any class/feat is available. I think its going to be important to synergies the party - this adventure looks hard to me. Dont bother with craft-based characters, or any specialilty builds that rely on time to get things. Craft item feats will be useless. Ideally I will place the correct treasure to fit the parties needs. (Craft skills may still have application...though) A secondary PC will be mandatory, as I said, the adventure is going to be a challenge and PC death is likely. -- Phil and Toast. My plan was to have Hub, Kev, and Bob make characters, and then collectively make a fighter/tank that would fill in the party to 4. This tank would be played by whoever and if one of you guys showed up you would play it. I chose the tank for this role because its easy to play, level-up, and everyone loves tankin!! So a good fit for a non-regular player. Of course you are both welcome to make PCs in the event you are around and ill be pretty flexible getting you in the game. Its just that if your only there for an hour each week it makes it harder to work out (not impossible), but it might be best to play any PC you make on a day you have off, while taking over the groups "fighter" when you just make it for the end of the session... |

we had initially kicked around being all clerics. not enough offense. what about dragon shaman? toast, do you remember if the auras stack from different dragon shamans? if so, a party of dragon shaman would be tough to kill. so we are looking at cleric wizard rogue? How about druid warmage scout? cleric paladin ranger? that last one sounds good. lots of healing. nick how important is arcane boom-boom going to be? how about cleric paladin warlock? |

The adventure is apparently balanced for the classic 4. But Id say with your experience, you guys could beat the adventure with many combinations. I dont like the idea of an "all" party for this one. Although a theme could work good...two rangers, a druid, and the bonus fighter for instance... Cleric - pali - ranger would be good too. Cleric, Mage, Ranger + bonus Fighter? So many possibilities! Rouge seems like the weekest link so far. Regarding arcane magic..I think arcane power will greatly benefit the party, allot of opportunity for AoE spells and/or tech spells could prove key. But the party must be prepared to protect the mage. Enemies will try to kill your casters (clerics too)! I would try to limit your "plane of glass" builds to one in the party for that reason. Many of the encounters will be wave after wave, testing your endurance! |

Cleric warmage ranger, or cleric warlock ranger. the warmage or the warlock have better HD than sor/wiz, and better AC. If its an endurance thing, the warlock will shine. I would totally play the warlock or the warmage. would love to. with the ranger we get sneakiness and front line combat, and survival checks for tracking. Warmage sounds like it would excel in this scenario as well. a reserve feat or two could really make the warmage a bottomless font of arcane damage, and a bit more versatile than the warlock. I would play any of the roles. what do you guys think? |
