Name – Miharu Kuroba
Age - 15
Starter Pokemon - Shinx (Klaus)

Miharu is from the Kuroba family of breeders hailing from Esper who breed pokemon mainly for contests. Her mother is Molly and her father is Makoto. She's had somewhat loft expectations placed upon her due to her parents success. Growing up she always thought there was more to the pokemon rather than their features or contest abilities. When she was finally old enough she told her parents she wanted to go on an "Adventure" collecting new pokemon and meeting new people. She would like to challenge Gyms for badges but her confidence in pokemon battles is lacking (quite low on priority list). Miharu would also like to put her family learned skills as a breeder to work to make a bit of money on the side from Pokemon eggs in the future.

Miharu likes to cut corners and save money where possible. She highly enjoys gambling and making money in general. This being the case she has somewhat... looser morals when it comes to money. Being surrounded by such things growing up is a likely influence. Being on this adventure with a much stricter budget appeals to her somewhat... thrifty spending habits.

In her family tradition dictates that when each member of the family reaches age 12 they are allowed to pick a pokemon from a "litter" of previous winning show pokemon to raise for competitions. The choice Miharu was drawn to a young Shinx that stood out from the rest. Klaus as she decided to name him was neither graceful nor were his features exacting to contest standards. Her parents weren't exactly happy with her choice but allowed it in the end as she was so adamant about her choice. Klaus has become her best friend and partner over the few years she's had him. Klaus can usually be found riding around on Miharu's shoulder always on the look out for interesting things.

Also of note is her complete lack of sense of direction. One reason she is aiming for the cruise. Her parents convinced her to go for this option because they were concerned she would fall down a cave system and die if left to adventure on alone with her Klaus as her only companion. She was quite relieved when Yuusuke and Ken offered to accompany her to the next town after leaving Kindle Town.

Her real dream in the end is to own her own business (also part of the reason she's a bit obsessed with money) raising happy, healthy pokemon and sell them to people who will love them and be good partners. Part of this is her desire to get out from under her parent's looming influence and shadow and part is desire to do something she loves.

As seen with the engagement rings and overall fiance fiasco with Yuusuke, Miharu has no problems trying to give as good as she gets. Whether she is successful varies often.

She's pretty laid back overall, but has a hint of temper hiding under the surface as seen with the pichu incident. She's also intrigued by both Ken and Yuusuke's approaches to dealing with wild pokemon.

Quick Recap for personal recollections. Feel free to PM with corrections for proper order of events lol. I ought to jot down notes next time lol.

After battle with The Murder of Murkrow met a girl named Emma who is desiring to get revenge for her sister's pokemon against a pack of Growlithe.

On the the way back to Kindletown we ran into a pair of Pichu. Ended awkwardly.

After getting back to town everyone healed up and bought supplies.

(Slightly fuzzy recollection at this point, all the backtracking we did kind of scrambled the exact order of events at certain points for me.)

Getting ready to leave town when we run into a boy of about 12 named Luc. Were thoroughly trounced and drudged back to the pokecenter where an overly pleased looking Nurse made snide comments. Resisted urge to flip her off.

Group decision to train up a bit on the way to ultimate goal of Esper was agreed upon.

As we were setting up camp rodents showed up and provided a bit of dinner and a show before steps were taken to prevent the situation from reaching critical.

Eventually reached Amanacer. Healed up again. Scouted out information on gym and surrounding area. Decided to press on. Ventured off the path at one point and battled Sentret. Found an egg that turned out to be a HootHoot egg.

After leaving Amanacer for the first time we get a bit of a ways out before hearing a strange noise. Deciding to press on it later becomes apparent there is trouble where we walked by. Backtracking again we go to investigate and come upon a scene where two Shinx and Vulpix were working to get a reptile pokemon out of a tree for a snack. The fight was dangerous and touch and go briefly before Ralph and Ryu pounded everything into unconsciousness.

Caught a vulpix who was then named Rosa bringing number of pokemon on the team up to 3 + 1 egg. Headed back to Amancer for further healing and bonding with pokemon. Later that night after leaving the city and camping down for the night the egg hatches and Watson was born.

The next day was uneventful and we reached my hometown of Esper where we made our way to the Professor's place and each picked up a pokedex. Then we swing by my home as I wanted to pick up a fishing rod. ...Ran into mother. The boys added fuel to the firey situation. Managed to get money from mother to bolster the current amount for the journey to properly take care of my suddenly larger team. Yuusuke and Mother got into a battle. It was over fast.

From the Journal of Miharu Kuroba
[Date Goes Here]
Day 9

Wow. That's all I can pretty much think after all that has happened these last nine days. Right now I'm sitting down in the Pokemon Center in Amanacer after having challenged the gym leaders there. But I guess that's jumping ahead a bit. I haven't written here since a really brief account after leaving my house back in Esper. After picking up a fishing pole and running into mum. When Yuusuke decided to be funny and tell my mother that he was my fiance. I'm somewhat worried my mother believes him even though I tried to tell her that he's not.

After Yuusuke and I made a hasty exit we pretty much headed straight for the pokemon center. Again. This seems to be reoccurring quite a lot doesn't it? Before following Yuusuke to the pokemon center I made sure to make a quick detour to the closest capsule toy dispenser. Yuusuke thought it would be funny to pretend to be my fiance huh? Well, let's see how he likes a set of "engagement rings"!

After picking those up I met up with him at the Center where poor Ralph had been completely healed up. This is where the trouble began. How our day could have gone so differently had we just walked away from this encounter! This is where we met Megan. A breeder with a piplup named Pippy. At first glance this girl was normal. Things quickly went from odd to get the hell out of here.

Again jumping ahead a bit... We seemed to have lost track of Ken for the time being. I remember him leaving my house before us, I'm not too worried though. I'm sure we'll meet back up with him in the near future. We're all headed for the same goal in the end anyways.

But back to Megan... Somehow she ended up traveling with us. For a brief period of time. By that I mean stalking. Apparently a fan of my parents? I'm trying to block as much of this out as possible... Both Yuusuke and I took on a trainer named Joey. Who, if I recall correctly had a patrat and a bidoof. Yuusuke quickly downed the first pokemon and then I battled the bidoof and managed to pull off a win.

At this time Creepy Megan and her Piplup appeared once again. We headed back into Esper once again to the Pokemon center with Joey following along as he had no more useable pokemon and it felt wrong to leave him out in "wild" where he would be vulnerable. At this point in time we make an attempt to escape from Creepy Megan. We failed and barely reached the outskirts of town. This is where things started getting dicey and I started wondering if my parents would post bail should I be arrested at some point during my journey.

Upon reaching the Pokemon center the Nurse there indicated that someone was looking for myself. When asked why she answered that it was on an errand for my mother. With some trepidation and comment from Yuusuke that making my mother annoyed or angry in any sense would (indeed) be a bad idea we left in search of this messenger.

It didn't take us long to find the person. It was the young lab assistant Masaki Ichimaru from Manzanita labs. After brief introductions where my attempts to annoy Yuusuke by calling him my fiance seem to have failed, Masaki produced two pokeballs and told us they were gifts from my mother. As always I was hesistant to accept anything from my mother without knowing what sorts of strings were attached. He told us they were “Super Eevee”. Decided to phone mum. She failed to answer when I called but sent rather... cheeky texts back about interest. Why I have to pay eventual interest on Yuusuke's Eevee I'll never know!
Masaki just grinned and showed us his reward for running this errand. Another super eevee... Is the contest season so slow? Not long after Masaki took off back to Esper and we were left with one other thing. Problem rather. Megan.

In hopes of dealing with The Problem Yuusuke called upon newly caught Blair and set her upon Megan. Rather... Megan tried to give 8ft long, very large and very angry Blair a hug. If we had been any further out into the wilderness... there would have been a body. Sadly Blair's attempts at strangulation where cut short and after Blair downed the Piplup we got the hell outta Esper.

While making our getaway we almost ran straight into Emma. The girl from earlier who is seeking revenge on the Growlithe who killed her sister's Skitty. Not long after we get some distance between us and the city Emma asks if we'd like to battle her. Yuusuke being the chivalrous (most of the time) guy offered me the chance to take up this particular challenge. I accepted and decided to try out my new Eevee whom I decided to name Yuuko. Emma cooed over the little fluffball briefly before our battle got underway. I was slightly concerned after Yuuko fell asleep from one of the water pokemon's attacks. Yuuko quickly shook off the sleep and proceeded to tackle the water type. From Emma's reactions during the battle my opinion of her is a bit lowered. But just going by these brief encounters it's hard to form any real opinion. Apparently she managed to lose her other pokemon. I believe she said it was a Psyduck with a bow. At the time of writing this I question if that poor pokemon is even alive after having been left to fend for itself in that savanna... At the time however we offered to escort Emma back to somewhere safe but she declined and we offered to call her if we came across her missing pokemon.

Not too long after getting back on the road again it seems like, we ran into a rather... peculiar individual. I was a bit impressed at the four murkrow laid out cold at his feet. He seemed rather cocky and challenged us to a duel. We started to decline but the mareep made a sound which seemed to have spurred Yuusuke into battling the oddly dressed man. His two pokemon which we identified as a mareep and magnemite were quickly taken out by Blair. The man thrust some money at Yuusuke and then stalked off in a bit of a huff.

After traveling a bit more we set up camp and settled in for the night. That night was one of the scariest nights I have ever experienced. Yuusuke and I were woken up in the middle of the night by some sort of pokemon. We never did find out what they were. There was lots of howling... and fire. We very carefully packed up and retreated to the road. Yuusuke tried to have Ralph put out the fire we had going. ...But the wild pokemon restarted it. We traveled all through the rest of the night and after the sun had risen we made camp again. Yuusuke offered to stand guard while I took a nap. I wanted to protest and come up with a solution that would allow him to rest as well but I eventually just gave in. Some time later I was awoken by the sounds of conversation.

It appeared that three lovely young ladies had been walking along talking about bug pokemon and Yuusuke being himself had to interject and state his opinion. Now I suppose to be fair he wasn't really flirting with them... but he wasn't exactly against their attentions. This proved to be too good of a chance to take advantage of the rings I bought. Quickly putting one on and heading outside the tent right after they began to offer him their phone numbers I quickly interjected and introduced myself as -his- fiance and quickly spun a somewhat cheesy tale about the ring and Yuusuke's denial.

The young ladies quickly took off leaving Yuusuke visibly annoyed. He asked me about the ring and I told him and added that I bought him one as well. (I bought spares too, just in case something happens to these as they're just plastic, though pretty decent for a capsule machine!) I was quite amused and surprised as he took the ring and carefully looked at it before slipping it on and saying he accept this challenge before making some comment about us being married and that he was going to go sleep in my tent. I wasn't really bothered by that honestly. Well by either of those things. Should I have been? I can't tell. I didn't see anything wrong with letting him sleep there.

It certainly is very different traveling with Yuusuke without Ken too.

After letting Yuusuke rest up for awhile we start back down the road towards Amanacer once more. Once again the wilderness proves how frightening it can be. We came across two mareep eating grass, and as Yuusuke and I discussed the pros and cons of battling the quiet creatures nature struck. One moment there are two mareep, the next there is a frighteningly fast purple blur and a hint of yellow and one less mareep. The purple blur and other mareep crashed into the bushes and sounds of distress are heard. Deciding to see if he can possibly rescue the creature Yuusuke follows after. We notice what looked to be feline paw prints. Not far into the bushes we find the mareep. ...Partially gutted and dying or dead. We didn't get close enough to really find out. We quickly retreated and Yuusuke attempted to get the other mareep to flee the danger lurking in the grass. It didn't make any attempt to really move and we left that scene behind us. We didn't get too far down the road when we heard a sound that left little to the imagination as to the fate of the remaining mareep.

Due to wanting to get more space between us and that particular situation we made pretty good time and distance by the time we decided to once again make camp. After the previous night we both decided that a night watch would probably be for the best. I decided to take first watch since Yuusuke still looked worn down. Watch was really quiet and passed without incident. Switched with Yuusuke and was awoken the next morning.

We decided to let our pokemon forage while getting closer and closer to Amanacer. Not far from the city itself we came across a very put together young kid with a very shiny and new looking badge upon his lapel. Yuusuke took up his challenge and I used both our pokedex to scan the young man's pokemon. It was a meinfoo and Ralph did really well for a good part of the battle before he had to be switched out. In the end Yuusuke won (no surprise there!) and got a sizable amount of money and some information about the gym and it's tactics from the kid. I think we might have confused him a bit when we introduced ourselves, or maybe it was more Yuusuke calling me his wife and us being a bit young to be married?

Regardless we soon made our way into Amanacer proper and headed straight for the pokemon center to get ourselves and our pokemon well fed.

Our priority this time was to challenge the gym leaders. We headed on over to the gym where a sign proclaimed that it was something like “bird day”. We went inside and it was fairly obvious right off that this gym is pretty new. Maybe a little hastily put together? We did some light training with some trainers in a two on two battle. Our first real attempt working together in this type of situation after meeting Luc. I think we did pretty good for a first real two on two battle. We then went to get a bit of early lunch and returned to the gym for the real match.

We decided once again to do a two on two battle and were given two options on how to proceed, (which we were told it is extremely rare for any kind of options in gym battles) we went with option #2. For the first round I called out Irene and Yuusuke called out Ralph. Despite their rocky first encounter with each other, they managed to pull off a win the first round. Then both Yuusuke and I called out our respective Eevee and went into round 2. Midway into the fight Yuusuke switched out Spencer for Ralph once more. It looked to be a bit touch and go but... we won! It was very thrilling and exciting and it makes me really understand why people want to become pokemon trainers!

We were both given 2000 Credits and an Underfoot Badge apiece.

Leaving the gym in high spirits we set out to do some shopping and wandering around the town. While wandering around we came across a peculiar little pokemon foraging through the garbage behind the pokemon center. Our pokedex identified it as a Ralts. It was really quite adorable and Yuusuke being... well Yuusuke wanted to make friends with it and offered it some of his trail rations. It was a little sad and endearing to watch it happily munch on an applecore and proudly hold up a half eaten candy bar. Eventually after a short communication with the Ralts, Yuusuke called out Zoe to help prove his strength.

Needless to say the Ralts (now named Puck) was quickly added to Yuusuke's growing roster of pokemon!

We headed back to the pokemon center again and decided to rest up for awhile, which gave me a good amount of time to reflect on everything that has happened these last 9 days and get a better account of everything written down.

I really have to admit that I... admire Yuusuke. For his skills and abilities as a trainer!! It's becoming common and easy to defer to his knowledge of pokemon battles and tactical actions to take in battles. It's hard not to be impressed as I've so little experience with them myself by comparison. I'm honestly really pleased to have been able to work so well with him for the gym battles.

I suppose that's one benefit of being a Gym Leader's son having so much knowledge about battles? Though I think it's more his own skills showing. I'm not really certain what to think of him at this point, his personality is quite interesting. He can be quite chivalrous, obviously very caring when it comes to pokemon, and then he can be wickedly playful when it seems to suit him, which is something I can appreciate.

I'm really glad he didn't leave and head off on his own when he had the chance in Esper seeing as it was my home town. I hate to think of what might have happened that night with those fire type pokemon had he not been there.

In the end really, as far as fake fiance/husbands go... I could do much, much worse than one Yuusuke Rowazoe. Gah! I hope he never reads this... I must hide my journal somewhere safe...

From the Journal of Miharu Kuroba
Day Unknown
Location: Outside the front gate of Kuroba Household.

It's been one of those days. Or is it weeks? I can't tell. Not long after Yuusuke and I won at the Gym we ran into Luc and Ken and who had returned from his personal training. Luc decided he wanted to give us another chance to battle him. As it was getting late however we all decided to turn in for the night. Plans to escape him early in the morning were foiled. However the battle this time was completely different than the first time. Between Ralph and Yuuko the battle was over fast and victory was ours. Sadly we missed scanning his pokemon once again. Perhaps next time we meet.

Next we traveled to gym to watch Ken fight, it didn't go very well for him and group consensus was that it might be a good idea to help him catch more pokemon. Not too long after heading out into the wild once more we came across some odd pokemon called that turned out to be a trio of Scraggy. However there was also a very large and intimidating looking pokemon that was the evolution of a Scraggy. A Scrafty. Quite luckily for us it's interest in us was none. Right as we were about to leave I noticed something odd near a tree. It was a pokemon called a Larvitar. There was a mad scramble between the three of us to catch him and in the end I won. He's quite adorable really. I decided to name the little guy Gojiran.

On our way back to town we ran into two very friendly rangers who informed us about call boxes. They also let us scan their pokemon and introduced us to Goji's possible mother- a massive Tyranitar called Sarah. I am somewhat inspired to begin training him to reach that stage. It was quite an impressive sight! The rangers then offered us a ride back to town on their Arcanine's which we gratefully accepted.

After a visit to the good old P.C. , Ken and Yuusuke decided to have a sparring match, during which Ken decided to try out the newest addition to his team, Bison. I decided to try and make a wager on the battle, betting 200 Credits on Yuusuke. Sadly he lost. With Ken and his pokemon beating Pandora. Yuusuke then accepted a challenge from a girl in the crowd. I once again decided to bet on him as having seen him battle in the past and having battled with him recently I felt quite confident in his skills. It seems that luck wasn't on either of our sides today. He lost again the girl's Growlithe and I lost another 200 Credits. You'd think I'd know better than to gamble quite so eagerly coming from Esper, but growing up there probably just made it worse.

After everyone healed up at the P.C. again Ken trained at the gym a bit and decided to try the gym leader(s) again, lost once more. He wisely decided to give up on this Gym for the time being and everyone decided to move on to our next destination. Right as we were getting ready to leave town we ran into some thugs from the Malcone family from Esper. They were looking for Yuusuke, which was quite worrisome. They are not pleasant people to deal with at all. After a quick lie on Yuusuke's part the thugs headed off and we got out of the city as quick as possible.

As we made our way towards Esper it was mostly quiet. However one night, filled with lots of annoying rustiling, my tent got shredded to pieces along one side. I should have known that getting a nicer tent was fortune's way of annoying me in the future. It was far too late to worry about the probable cause of my tent having been ruined. Making a makeshift repair I turned in for the night. I'm just glad I wasn't in the tent at the time it got ruined. The next morning Yuusuke caught a very lonely Oddish, which seems to have been the cause of the annoying grass sounds the night before.

The rest of our journey was was quiet until we got to Esper. We did run into a Tochic that both Ken and I tried to capture with Ken managing the capture with ease.

Right outside the gates to the city were more of the thugs from the Malcone family... They shaking everyone down for ID still looking for Yuusuke. Attempts to get my mother to give us a ride into the city failed miserably. Despite her show of "motherly support" at supplying both Yuusuke and I with Yuuko and Spencer... Mother is still mother and vexing is one of the best words I can use to describe her.

Nothing we tried to avoid them and get out of the situation worked. The talkative thug didn't give us much choice and called out his Machamp, and proceeded to carry Yuusuke off. The pleas Ken and I made to be allowed to accompany Yuusuke fell on deaf ears and we were told that he would be returned to my mother's home.

Ken was considering calling the police but that wouldn't do much good... The Malcone family has a grip on almost everything in this entire city. With no other real options left I decided that heading over to my house would probably be the best course of action. I really don't feel like facing either of my parents at this point so I'm just sitting here outside the main gate. Writing in this damn journal, hoping that when they do return Yuusuke he's reasonably okay and that his pokemon are all safe and accounted for.

Day 14 of the journey.
Location: Backyard of the Kuroba Household

Well, the Malcone thugs dropped Yuusuke off as promised, a little worse for wear. His arm seems to be a bit... mangled and apparently Blair was roughed up a bit. We didn't really learn too much from Yuusuke as he was a bit drugged up. Seeing as it was getting late we decided to just crash at my place for the night. As usual mum gave her version of the Saffron Inquisition. I know she cares. It's just hard sometimes. I know growing up they just wanted me to follow in their footsteps and my way of going about it isn't how they would have liked. I still want to be a Breeder and have my own business someday. But I want to do it on my terms. I don't really want all the fame, the fortune maybe... but I just wanna raise happy pokemon and find them good homes. ...If I don't get buried in debt to my own parents I might be able to afford it some day.

I wouldn't even mind doing Contests... but I don't know. It's all a bit confusing sometimes with all these expectations. Oh well. Back to what's happened the last two days.

After we got up the next morning Yuusuke and I headed over to one of the closer casinos to blow off a bit of steam and try to get some money. ...Well, they say fortune favors the bold. It certainly seems to apply at times. I was up to a decent amount after some slots and roulette. After being there for awhile Ken showed up, and he looked a little dazed by all the lights and noises. I can't say I blame him. It does get to be a bit much. Though this was one of the smaller casinos. It doesn't seem like Yuusuke did quite as well as I did by the time we left. I think everyone was itching for some trainer battles after we left the casino, but it was getting late so we headed back to my place and got up early the next morning to head over to the local trainer's association to get some practice in. There was a pretty good sized group of trainers there and we all started taking turns battling and betting on our companions.

Night of Day 14
Graveyard adventure.
Gojiran got stolen by a ghost.
Yuusuke caught a Duskull and he very kindly gave it to me.
Murphy got himself a decidedly creepy mask.
Yuusuke and I rescued Gojiran from a very large spirit after Irene took it down in one blow after it attacked me.
Gojiran was found behind a throne of bones eating very old candy.
As we were leaving I caught a Yamask and Murphy got to keep his mask.

Day 15

Apparently it was Yuusuke's birthday today!

We all headed back to the Trainer's Asso. around noon where I took on the girl with the Skitty and won getting a nifty amulet.

Everyone lost once against an Elekid which was a bit of a blow against Gojiran in his first battle being taken down in one hit resulting in both Yuusuke and I losing 500 credits. I feel kinda bad I lost him so much money. Who knew that an electric type knew fighting moves? Oh well.

There were a few more battles after that before we were informed that we'd reached the leader of the association.

As we were heading back to my house Yuusuke and Ken took off after some bugs while I went to buy some pokeballs. Upon returning to them I found that they had managed to catch both! Ken caught one with his bare hands apparently, which sounds like I missed something impressive. Yuusuke seemed very pleased and he gave me one of the bugs which turned out to be a Yanma. I have to think of a good name for him.

After that we eventually got back to my house where my mother (being scarily pleasant) introduced us to the Move Tutor she goes to when she wants a pokemon to pick up a move. It was a little tough, but I decided parting with the 1000 credits was worth the cost of Yuuko learning a new move and paid him. I explained to Yuuko what was going on and left her pokeball in his care. I promptly went to bed wanting time to pass as quickly as possible so that I could get Yuuko back.

The next morning we went on a wild pokemon hunting training field trip. The first pokemon we encountered was a Deerling. It was very quickly taken out. Not long after that a pokemon appeared to be digging around near where the deerling was. It turned out to be a nincada. Seeing it was a bug and that both Ken and Yuusuke seemed a bit interested in it I decided to let the boys have at it. Yuusuke seemed particularly devastated at missing this catch. It wasn't long before something stumbled out of a bush a little ways away. Yuusuke, who seems to possess a very uncanny ability to sense bugs was diving towards this creature with a pokeball leaving his hand quick as lightning! Not long after he was in the possession of a Venonat. After that we all decided to head back home and heal up and call it a day.

Tomorrow I get Yuuko back! I can't believe how much I missed her. I still need to take her and Irene shopping for some little rewards to show them that they're doing very well.

From The Journal of Miharu Kuroba
Day 15/16 of the journey.
Location: Kuroba Household - Miharu's Room

We parted ways with Ken, which might have been for the best? It's hard to say.
On our way back to town we ran into some trainers who looked like the might have wanted to start a fight. One was dressed like a punk and asked what Yuusuke's favorite pokemon was. I replied straight faced that it was Jigglypuff and he believed me and proceeded to ask if I was Yuusuke's beard. The guys girlfriend was highly amused. The guy ended up leaving without a fight.

As we were getting closer to town Yuusuke's Bugdar went off. He'd spotted a Joltik. It was quite cute watching them interact together. At first it seemed like Yuusuke was going to be successful in befriending and convincing yet another pokemon to join him without too much of a fight. Then the little bug startled and began to take off trying to drag Yuusuke's ration bar. Too cute.

At this point he started chucking pokeballs and I tried throwing one to help him but it didn't work. Eventually he knocked it out and decided to take it with him. While working on getting back to the pokemon center with the newest possible member of our family we were set upon by some very odd looking bird pokemon which turned out to be Vullaby. Ugly little things.

Klaus and Irene helped take them town along with Yuusuke's pokemon.

Pandora ended up evolving!! It was pretty interesting to watch!

It was a bit of a race back to the pokemon center after that. The nurse there kindly healed up the voltik. I gave Yuusuke another pokeball (he tossed money at me in repayment which was amusing) and he managed to capture the voltik this time. It didn't take him very long to sprint over to the PC and retrieve his new friend and begin bonding. I got my pokmeon all healed up and Yuusuke declared he wanted to start training his pokemon, which was fine by me.

He found a guy around our age named Richie who had a pokemon he wanted to work on training that seemed to be a good challenge for Zoe (his Shinx). It ended up being a good match between then. Richie mentioned he was a breeder which caught my interest. I asked if he had any pokemon that he'd be interested in breeding with any of mine. It ended up he had a Teddiursa which he was willing to pair with Klaus. We came to an agreement after Yuusuke had wandered off wanting no part in this. After the details were settled upon I sent Klaus off with him and returned to Yuusuke.

At some point I decided to go and try to get my broken pokeballs repaired at the shop we had visited prior. At first I had wanted to try and haggle a better price... but the guy there ended up being a major creep causing me to hide behind Yuusuke. We left quite quickly. Later that night we left to find someone calling himself The Masked Man. Yuusuke made quick work of his pokemon. A scraggy, a creature that made “Whooo” noises and an Onix. It was quite scary watching Blair take out the onix! However seeing that masked man's onix I decided I really would like to add one to my party. Yuusuke was awarded a pretty good amount of prize money for his victory. As it was getting late we decided to head back to my house.

The next morning was quite busy. Yuuko was returned from her tutoring session and Richie called to report that the breeding had been successful and that he would be returning Klaus and giving me one of 5 eggs along with a bit of money since there were so many eggs. I decided to go pick up my pokeballs which I had repaired at a NORMAL store while waiting for Richie to arrive. I was pretty glad to get Klaus back, along with the egg. I quite happily shared my good results with om. Mum was... mum. She was probably happy for me in her own way I'm sure.

My plans for the day were to work on training Klaus up and selling the teddiursa egg since I really had no desire for one at that time and I could use money from selling it in the meantime. Two somewhat disappointing battles later, I decided to take Klaus off and train him against some wild pokemon. Yuusuke went off and did some training on his own. I'm not entirely sure what he ended up doing with all of his day. Eventually I was contacted by someone who wanted to buy the egg I was selling and I made my way to the pokemon center to complete the transaction. I used the money I got from the egg on a Dusktstone which I used to evolve Irene. If I'd thought she was impressive before she's really quite intimidating now! Later on that day Klaus ended up evolving into a Luxio! He's a bit too big to ride around on my shoulder now, which is a bit sad. However he looks pretty cool now and I can tell he's much stronger!

Day 17 of the Journey to 18.
Location: Grasslands and Outside a cave entrance

Today I decided I wanted to head into the mountains and find myself an Onix! Yuusuke and I made our way to the pokemon center early in the morning to complete all our preparations. Rosa now has a place riding around on my shoulder as Klaus is far too big, plus I'd like to spend more time training Rosa. While discussing our plans for the day with Yuusuke a strange little vulpix ran up to me and seemed intent on inspecting Rosa. Not knowing who this belonged to and being slightly wary of lifted Rosa up and away from the unknown vulpix. Which sparked some bickering (nothing new) between Yuusuke and myself over my protectiveness of Rosa. I wouldn't be against letting Rosa breed with another vulpix, however I would like to know more about the trainer and pokemon before hand!

The owner of the Vulpix, Vladimir, turned up not too long after. It was a girl about our age named Ayumu Fujiwara. Ayu seemed quite pleasant and we got into a discussion about our vulpix, which caused Yuusuke to depart outside of earshot from possible breeding chatter. I informed Ayu that the guy who'd just left was Yuusuke and that he was my fiance. Is it good or bad that telling people this is becoming second nature? Ayu commented that it was romantic that we'd met on our journey to joining the cruise competition. I suppose it is? Now that I think about it I think that Mum and Dad met under somewhat similar circumstances when they were both entering the same Contest. Maybe that's one reason Mom acts the way she does around Yuusuke? Anyways...

Ayu told me she was aiming to enter the cruise competition herself, which wasn't too surprising. It seemed like she was traveling all by herself. After explaining what our plans for the day were (Onix hunting) I invited her to join Yuusuke and myself on our journey. It wouldn't hurt to have more people in our party. Much unlike the last girl we meet in a pokemon center, this one seemed quite... Sane. I introduced Yuusuke to Ayu and... well he was typical Yuusuke. Though he acts a bit... outrageously sometimes he's really not a bad guy. I know he's got my back and I can count on him. As long as no outrageously pretty girls are walking by haha.

While heading back towards the mountains we passed some trainers but only one who Yuusuke managed to provoke into a battle. My fiance seems to have a talent for attracting fights. Ayu was almost instantly excited by the sight of the enemy trainer's pokemon which she identified as a Bagon. It seems as though she likes dragon type pokemon? Yuusuke sent out Pandora and victory was his. Ayu was fairly determined on finding out where the guy had gotten his pokemon. I finally got a chance to test out my medic skills! We haven't needed them lately since we've always been pretty close to a pokemon center recently. It looks like these will be great skills to have in the future.

The rest of the day passed pretty quietly and as we got closer to the mountain it was time to set up camp once more. I volunteered for first watch, Ayu took second and Yuusuke took 3rd. At first it semed like the night was going to pass quite peacefully. Rosa and I were on lookout together, Rosa helping keep the fire going well. After some time we became aware of an odd noise and upon investigation it was a feline type pokemon ripping it's way into Yuusuke's tent! Rosa managed to startle it away with a well timed Roar which also woke up everyone else.

After informing Yuusuke that it looked like the creature we had very briefly encountered during the Mareep Incident, I proceeded to explain to Ayu some of the things we had run into at night while out in the Sunbleached Stretch. After hearing this Ayu seemed very determined to help me keep watch for a bit, which while I tried to turn down was really quite grateful for the company. I recalled Rosa and sent out Irene, Ayu called out her Charmeleon, Cinder. Not too long after we'd settled in by the fire 4 figures made their way into our line of sight. Quick dex scans revealed them to be Purrloin and a Liepard. Cinder and Irene took them all out with ease...Sadly one of the purrloin died from it's injuries and it was carefully buried. Not sure what to do with to with the knocked out liepard, we tied it up with some rope. I eventually went to sleep leaving Ayu on watch.

It seems like we were destined to not get much rest that night. After some time on Ayu's watch the pillars of flame and some howling occurred. It seemed a bit too eerily familiar. After recounting our previous run in with this phenomenon with Ayu I woke Yuusuke up and related what was going on. Ayu decided to try and get the mysterious pokemon to back off. Having a bit of a bad feeling I decided to begin carefully backing up my belongings and prepare for departure. After having her Lapras send off some warning shots Yuusuke and Ayu followed suit and packed up their gear. It seems like the pokemon in the grass were not pleased by being attacked by water at all. Several larger than before gouts of flame shot into the night. None of us were willing to leave behind the two unconscious feline pokemon to be at the mercy of these unknown fire types so we brought them along with us as we made a somewhat hasty retreat from our camp.

Not a moment to soon it seemed. Our entire campsite went up in a blazing inferno. Nature can be quite terrifying. We traveled on quite a good distance before settling down for sleep again. I caught the liepard in a pokeball as no one was quite sure what to do with it. Yuusuke captured the purrloin he'd rescued from becoming barbecue. Seeing as it was getting light out once more I sent out Klaus to keep watch on things and teased him a bit before getting some solid rest finally.

Day 18 Begins

After everyone was up and ready to get moving again we finally reached the mountain and caves. I was probably a bit overeager to get looking for an onix, but it's been awhile since I've really wanted to catch a certain type of pokemon. Ayu and Cinder took the lead while I walked behind her, Yuusuke and Puck followed behind us. As we walked along they noticed a pink colored pokemon, but I wasn't overly interested as I had my sights set on larger prey. It ended up being a Nidoran M. Both Ayu and Yuusuke went after it and Yuusuke ended up catching it.

As we continued on down the tunnel Yuusuke heard a familiar sounding pokemon call and we picked up our speed. Which in hindsight, in a dark cave wasn't a good idea. Ayu was able to stop from falling down a pit, I however wasn't quite so lucky. Tumbling down a very long shaft, I made a very vigorous effort to stall my falling speed and was thankfully successful, with only minor injuries from the fall. The light from up above me where Ayu and Yuusuke were was very far away. I called out to the pair of them that I was okay and waved my flashlight up towards them. After a quick scan of a very large cavern I called out Yuuko and informed my traveling companions that I was going to look for the onix and a way to meet back up with them.

It looked like I was going in the correct direction when three pokemon blocked my way. They were Roggenrolas. They were quite annoying and it took the combined efforts of Yuuko and Rosa to get rid of them. I caught one and managed to defeat the other two. Moving quickly to catch up to the onix with Gojiran in the lead we ran into the onix. Quite literally. It seems that it was laying in wait for my approach.

Gojiran put up a valiant fight, but he was no match for the large creature. Fearing for my larvitar I sent out Yuuko and had her chip away at the onix's defenses. Eventually it looked like it was quite weakened and I threw a pokeball at it, the first one failing to capture it completely. I then threw my last pokeball with a wish to whatever gods out there there were that it would work. After some very tense moments the ball eventually snicked signaling the successful capture!!

About this time Yuusuke came into sight and I launched myself at him hugging him happily and informing him that I had caught my desired onix! I learned that he and Ayu had been delayed in reaching me because of a pokemon crossing their path. I'm not sure exactly what kind of pokemon it was but apparently it was a bug and that Ayu captured it.

The general group consensus seemed to be to head back to town and begin training in earnest for the upcoming gym battle. Personally I can't wait to hit the nearest pokemon center and begin making friends with Maus the onix!
