My Friday: 1.) Wave -- Sinatra -- he tries for some low notes with unhappy results, but the Jobim song's a charmer 2.) Move, Baby Move -- Billy "The Kid" Emerson -- not a great side, but a great sax break 3.) Would You Mind? -- Hank Snow -- energetic foolery from the King of Cornball 4.) Lone Prairie -- Wade Ward -- Appalachian fiddle tune, mysterious and compelling 5.) That's What You're Doing to Me -- Billy Ward and the Dominoes -- rock & roll three years before Elvis and Chuck Berry "invented" it...amazing! Who knew? 6.) Running Away -- Roy Ayers -- masterful funk cut 7.) Get Down On It -- Kool and the Gang -- could cheer up a dead man; these guys were the real thing. The next song was "Jailhouse Rock" by Jerry Lee Lewis, and I refrain from making the obvious comment in deference to the Webmaster's belief system. |
