Hey, gang! Miss us?

It was very frustrating, to say the least, not being able to access this board... but whatcha gonna do? At least we all got to spend some quality time with our families, or watching movies or football or something.

You'll find some new reviews and stuff at www.inthebalcony.com, including a DVD release calendar for January. Holy cow, some great stuff coming!

Thanks for being here, and for missing us!

Lotsa new stuff up at www.inthebalcony.com today, including a massive tribute to the great Edgar "Slow Burn" Kennedy, a review of the all-but-forgotten 1933 Chesterfield mystery Murder on the Campus, and all the news about the upcoming MGM musicals collection from Warners, loaded with bonus shorts (do ya'll like Tex Avery cartoons?).

Not for nothing, but as I mention elsewhere I've been getting a plethora of emails regarding Monogram Week, and many of them mention how much they enjoy inthebalcony.com and these message boards and the knowledgeable film fans to be found therein. So thanks to everybody who contributes, and to those out there who just like to stop by and read, well, thank YOU too. The whole idea of this website was to create an online forum for friendly people to hang out and talk about movies 'n' things, and I'm very gratified that it's been a success.

I have been getting a few suggestions (and no, "go $#&% yourself" hasn't been one of them) and I'll be incorporating some of them. One thing a few people have mentioned is that the info about new and upcoming DVDs has been very helpful to them, so we'll see what we can do to expand that section (such as listing several months, not just the current one). On Jan. 31, Warner Bros. released 7 Oscar-winning films, including such beloved titles as The Good Earth, Captains Courageous, and The Champ, but you'd never know it by reading our local newspaper, which didn't even mention them in its "new DVDs" listing. That kind of ignorance about our cinema treasures makes me mad.

So anyway, if you have any suggestions, email 'em to me or post 'em here and we'll see what we can do. Remember to check our LINKS section, because you'll find some interesting stuff there, and take advantage of the deals offered by our friends who sell DVDs.

Other than that, thanks for stopping by and enjoying the insanity, and for making this place fun for me to do and fun for me to visit.
