The first episode of the series dealt with West and Gordon escorting Abraham Lincoln's body back to Washington. D.C.

That'll Be The Day.

Before Driving Miss Daisy in 1989, what was the only Oscar-winning Best Picture for which the director hadn't even been nominated for Best Director?

There's actually two:

1927/28: Wings from un-nominated director William Wellman won Best Picture, while the Best Director award went to Frank Borzage for Seventh Heaven

1931/32: Grand Hotel the Best Picture winner was directed by unnominated Edmund Goulding - Frank Borzage won Best Director for Bad Girl

Wings didn't technically win Best Picture. There was no such name for an award until the second Academy Award ceremonies. We deal in technicalities. What's your question?

Well, every source I can find, including Robert Osborne's "85 Years of the Oscar: The Official History of the Academy Awards" (which I've read, great book), cites all three movies, including WINGS.

Technically, I will go with the official Oscar source.

What actor received two Oscars in the same year, for the same role?

It was retroactively given "Best Picture", an award that didn't exist in 1929. Mr. Diego, what's YOUR question?

Sorry forgot to give one

Andre De Toth directed several 3D films - why is this so odd?

He was blind in one eye and couldn't see in 3 dimensions.

Name at least two film actors who changed their names mid-career and went on to work in a number of films.

Well, we serial fans can name two quite easily - Herman Brix and Lorna Gray.

About whom was a member of Congress speaking when he said, "His loathsome pictures must be kept from before the eyes of American youth"?
