I've picked up 2 titles this month...both westerns... Gunsmoke: Season 3, Volume 2 Comanche Moon Comanche Moon was the last-published novel by Larry McMurtry in his Lonesome Dove saga...though I think chronologically it occurs second (between Dead Man's Walk and Lonesome Dove). I never got to see this when it was originally on TV so now Imay pick a week (or two) and watch all of my LD mini-series in order. The big question is...what do I do with Return To Lonesome Dove which shouldn't be an official sequel because McMurtry had nothing to do with that one. |

Throw it in the trash would be my advice. |

So, what are your feelings on the reports the film was re-colored, to look brighter and sound was re-recorded, including a whole guitar performance by Carlos Santana? |

I think life should be recolored to look brighter. Except for the parts in black & white. |

A decidedly non-answer, LG. You didn't give your feelings on them re-recording music. So some of the music on the set you bought was made in 2008/2009, not back at Woodstock. Seems similar to colorization for me, which if I recall, you hate. |

I just picked up the fourth season of Doctor Who and The Beverly Hillbillies Ultimate Collection volume 1 (the first 26 episodes, minus the Christmas episode). I haven't watched the BHs in ages and am looking forward to refreshing my memory of them. This is the set made from creator Paul Henning's personal prints and includes the cast promos for Winston cigs and Kelloggs. Nice combo of sponsors! |

Well, first of all, this is a "Director's Cut" so we already know it's not as shown in theatres. Second, boosting color is something that is done on a lot of catalog titles these days. Third, concert albums have been re-recording music in the studio forever. So my answers are as follows: it doesn't bother me, but I haven't seen the film yet, and if it bothers me when I watch it, I'll let you know. A lot of it sounds like the typical DVD review whining bullshit, though ("they used noise reduction and if you freeze the cartoon and go frame by frame you can see the bottom of Daffy Duck's foot disappears in one frame, so don't buy this set!"). None of this has anything to do with colorization. And the DVD Savant - who loves this film and has seen it more times than I've seen Invasion of the Saucermen - wasn't bothered by it, and I trust is judgment. |

That's cool, LG. I was interested in picking it up, but started to hear they had done some mucking around. Glad to hear it doesn't sound that serious. Please report back when you have watched it. If you happen to have the link to the DVD Savant review that would be appreciated, too. |

Our local Big Lots had a nice selection of Warner Bros. titles... I had most of the stuff, but did find something called "Dance, Girl, Dance" with Maureen O'Hara and Maria Ouspenskaya, two of my fave movie babes, for three whole bucks. |
