My last four until Xmas time:

Angels and Demons.
Bundy.
Crank 2.
The Butterfly Effect 3.
When is X-mas at your house? October? I say you'll be postin' on this here thread before Halloween!
I mean't to say that I have a lot to get through, as well as some repeat viewings I hope of things like Da Vinci Code and Reign of Fire.

When I get more, it will be a big spend!

Picked up Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death. Especially liked the nod to the '60s Batman movie.

I found Regarding Henry, one of my fave feel good movies, for 4 bucks at a second hand store, but my real find there was 2 brand new, still in the box, 5.25 inch floppy disk storage cases, which I use to store the DVDs I make from DVR'd movies.
Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog. It's just little ol' me...

I just bought a 2 disc edition of Vertigo, it's a 50th anniversary edition. I've only seen this film once, and that was at the Civic Theater in Akron, Ohio, around 1975. I wasn't impressed with it then, but it gets so many rave reviews I just thought I'd buy the puppy.

Today's purchase was Hancock. I'm not sure I would say it is good. But I enjoyed it. And since it is my money that's what counts.

Yesterday at Big Lots. I picked up all of the Bond movies with Sean Connery, except From Russia With Love, for 3 bucks each.

I pawed at the 20 dollar and 50 dollar Wizard Of Oz releases. Does that count?

My local record shop, bless 'em, are in the midst of a sale on new DVDs, including those Janus/Criterion "Essential Films" DVDs for $12 each. I picked up "Pygmalion" (1938) with Leslie Howard.

Pygmalion is a terrific film. If you haven't seen it, you should make it a priority.

Well, Pygmalion is a terrific script. For the few who care, the movie is poorly directed and the acting stagy, but what would you expect? Shaw wanted what he was accustomed to, and he was at the wheel. There's nobody I admire more than him, so what the hell?

I don't remember a movie that disappointed me more, but then, I never expect much from English classics that don't have Michael Powell's name attached. Of course there have been some wonderful surprises, especially lately; IMO the Brits have finally gotten the hang of it and are making movies as good as any other country -- but it sure as hell took a while for them to catch on.

I mean, where's the Brit Robert Aldrich? Sam Fuller? Chuck Jones? They don't make good trash, and trash is what I like. Those Jimmy Sangster quota quickies, well, all the quota quickies really, damn near wrecked the British film industry. We didn't enjoy those movies, we endured them, waiting for the main feature, which could and sometimes did turn out to be an unspeakably dull Bryan Forbes flick like Seance on a Wet Afternoon, which further decreased our love for Merrie England. But even the dreaded Forbes made The Wrong Box, one of my favorites ever.

Fortuntately, that's all in the past. These days the Brits run with the big dogs, and that's fine because they are, after all, the funniest people around. Plus they make great beer, and if you can afford it, some restaurants serve grouse -- food of the Gods.
Life is just a bowl of cherries, it's too mysterious, don't take it serious...

I bought Vol. 1 of Criterion's Essentials, and I said I wouldn't buy any more because there aren't any extras. And I won't. Its like eating cake without icing!
