Got The Lone Ranger from The Serial Squadron yesterday. I'll start on chapter 1 later today.
I'll be anxious to hear how it compares with the Mill Creek release. I've held off on it myself, until I heard whether it was enough of an improvement to warrant buying.

Today, I got The Point (a friend's fave movie; it's the animated early '70s TV-movie that used to be narrated by Dustin Hoffman that's now narrated by Ringo Starr; music remains by Nilsson).

Received the 70th anniversary edition of Buck Rogers from VCI today. It was a pleasant surprise since last time I checked they didn't have it listed as being shipped. Also picked up Valkyrie from Wal-Mart.

Since My Balcony prize VCI assortment is apparently not forthcoming, I took matters into my own hands and during a recent 40% off catalog sale, ordered both the Fleischer cartoon sets of Popeye and Superman, along with DVD upgrades of Jungle Queen, Captain Midnight, The Phantom, Mandrake, Scouts To The Rescue and The Last Frontier. All arrived yesterday.

I took advantage of their Black Friday sale to order upgrades of Riders Of Ghost City and Overland Mail, along with their 3 disc Forever 50's set.

They're also having a 45% off sale on Monday.

Bunch of stuff came this week: Star Trek movie Blu-Ray, some noirs via the UK (films not available in the U.S.), the Golden Age of TV Criterion set, four Suchet Hercule Poirot movies also from the UK, and Paris Blues via the UK also. The last was purchased more for the Duke Ellington score and the appearance of some jazz musicians than for the movie.

Last night I took advantage of an Amazon sale to pick up the complete series of a couple of shows that I really enjoy. Amazon temporarily has the complete series of Red Dwarf (18 DVD) on sale for an astoundingly low $49.99, so I ordered it just to make sure I wasn't imagining the price. I've never seen this set anywhere at this low of a price point. Almost as good was the recently released Farscape complete series (25 DVD) for a paltry $57.99.

If these are series that you enjoy now may be the time to give yourselves an early Christmas present.

I received my Balcony Prize Package VCI Assortment today, consisting of:

Bad Blonde
Man Bait
Stolen Face
Blackout
Portland Expose
They Were So Young
Loan Shark
Arson, Inc.
Shadow Man
Shoot To Kill
The Lonesome Trail
The Silver Star
King Dinosaur
The Jungle

I'm particularly anxious to watch Portland Expose, as it purports to be filmed on location in Portland, OR, in 1957 and the story's supposedly taken from a real expose which actually appeared in Life magazine. Since I was attending high school in Portland during that time, it ought to bring back some interesting memories and locations that may or may not still exist there!
