If I recall correctly, that is from one of VCI's Forgotten Noir volumes. A solid flick, Chandy, you should enjoy. |

Dropped by Big Lots and picked up the 1977 Henry Winkler film Heroes and the remake of Bionic Woman. |

From Amazon France I got Quai de Orfeuvres, Le Corbeau, The Wages of Fear, Pickpocket and A Man Escaped. I've been saving Wages of Fear all my life, and now it's time. |

Add Diabolique to those 3 Clouzot films, and you have 4 of my favorite films. I'll go out on a limb and say a movie fan would be hard pressed to pick 4 films from any one director that are better than those 4 Clouzots! |

No time like the present, Mr P. One of the most exciting, suspenseful films that I have ever seen. Enjoy. |

You will have no regrets, CL. A great series and an awesome DVD release. The picture/sound quality is amazing. My only complaint with TZ is the hour-long eps in the fourth season. That experiment didn't work too well, as many episodes feel padded. |

Thanks Batman. It's been years since I've watched the show, and then in sliced and diced syndicate cuts. But there are still many episodes that I can recall from seeing them as a child during their original broadcast. Powerful stuff that for me stands the test of time much better than similar fare like The Outer Limits. |

I agree, CL. I have the complete original OUTER LIMITS series and while I found it enjoyable enough, I believe it suffered from the hour-long running time; much in the same way as the fourth season of THE TWILIGHT ZONE. |

Picked up Public Enemies. It's no Bonnie and Clyde but is a fairly decent film. |

Wages Of Fear is good but talky too often. The remake is Sorcerer, 1977. It's one of those rare remakes (like The Thing in '82 and The Fly in '86) that is better than the original. And to be fair and respectful to the originals - remakes do have the advantage of newer technology and effects for slicker faster films. And that's always going to be the case. But . . . most of the time remakes are NOT better with Planet Of The Apes and Peter Jackson's over blown King Kong perfect examples. One more note about Sorcerer - the music by Tangerine Dream is truly haunting. |

THE THING (1982) is NOT a remake of the earlier film. It is a different (and superior) adaptation of the original source novel. An honest mistake that many make. This also would apply to PLANET OF THE APES, which is also (more closely) based on the original novel. But the original movie is still much better, a classic in a class all by itself. |
